    If you ever have a really bad day, tons of stress, blood pressure thru the roof, just put your headphones on and listen to the Nature CD. Then watch the fan made visual video of the Nature portion. Even Tuomas gave it his seal of approval. 31+ minutes of beautiful music and the visual beauty leaves you in awe of this speck of dust we call home.

    25:55 Watch 'Nightwish Making of Endless Forms Most Beautiful'. It is really good. That document tells a lot how they do things. I think this interview is little bit tricky because this same guy have interviewed Tuomas many times. You say Tuomas almost perfectly, no need to say sorry.

      Yes. I loved that documentary. it's an important one that has so much valuable info to get a super good insight on how they work together to create an album. I hope we get a reaction to that one. Pretty sure it's in several parts. It's so worth watching. Up-Vote a reaction video the making of Endless Forms Most Beautiful.

    "Nightwish - Making of New Album 2015" I believe you'll find more interesting to watch.
    20 short, 3 to 7 minutes, episodes altogether. Episodes 1 to 8 concentrate quite a lot on songwriting and rehearsing, except for episode 6 which is about Floor getting used to living in Finland, the language, culture... Floor lived a year in Finland, 2014-15.
    Episode 8 is interesting, Nightwish visiting The Angel Studios in London where the orchestral parts and choirs were recorded.
    In one of the later episodes (13) Kai, (the new drummer, who in the last minute replaced Jukka who's insomnia was too bad for him to continue touring), told he had to learn 78 minutes of music in two days! Jukka could have played the drums on the album, but he wanted Kai to play on the album, so that Nightwish has the same guy on drums on the album and on stage.

    This interview was likely done before the pandemic shut down their 2020 tour of their new Human::Nature album. Eventually in May of 2021 Nightwish played 2 paid Virtual concerts in an amazing virtual world(150,000 people from 108 countries watched live online, including me) with slightly different setlists of a Human::Nature concert which they had not been able to play until then. Marco had just left, so they no longer had his vocals, and they introduced a replacement bass player. The current tour in 2022 is the delayed 2020 tour with the setlist mostly what they played in the 1st of the 2 Virtual concerts. Lots of pretty good non-official concert footage is appearing on YT recently. I saw them in Montreal in May 2022. Wonderful! Currently they are doing festivals in Europe. Pinkpop was just a few days ago, and live streamed. Floor did a solo concert and a Nightwish concert the same day.

    You have not checked out anything from the Human:II:Nature album, the most recent record that they were talking about.
    Music, Noise, Shoemaker, Harvest, Pan, How's the Heart?, Procession, and Endlessness are the 9 songs on disc 1. Disc 2( All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World) is the instrumentals. Noise has the music video, all the others have lyric videos. And How's the Heart? has a Planet Rock acoustic session with Floor and Troy.

  • @ecbftl
    @ecbftl Před 2 lety +10

    Once you see the Noise video you will see what Tuomas meant when he discussed it, although he kind of gave away the "surprise" ending scene. Be sure to watch all the way to the end of the video to get the final message. It is a beautiful moment after all the frenetic activity in the video.

    🤘❤🤘 This was so cool, guys. Not many reactors give Tuomas the spotlight. Which is sad considering he is the band leader. According to the books... Once Upon A Nightwish and Marco's 2017 autobiography, many people wondered if Tuomas could navigate Nightwish without Tarja. He and Tarja founded Nightwish, together, and they were the faces of Nightwish for over 9 years. Since Tarja's dismissal, Tuomas has navigated Nightwish so beautifully, and took the band to even bigger success.

    here is how the Finnish pronounce the names of NW members czcams.com/video/DpapnmXoIZk/video.html
    You be missing the current bass-player, but since his name is also Jukka (like the first drummer) you are covered.
    Please note that Floor is Dutch, Troy is British and Anette is Swedish...so there is a slight Finnish accent in their names.

    Tuomas is pretty darn eloquent in English, his school-learned second language. He's being a good politician in pivoting some of the questions into topics which matter to him, and he's open and welcoming to new ones. Being a songwriter, in the public and the press for some of decades, can mold a Finn (stereotyping here, I'm a Finn too) into an interview delight. Tuomas has the right stuff both in the areas of song composition and and verbal expression.

    • @littleraven28
      @littleraven28 Před 2 lety

      He was an exchange student in the US, during which time his guest family also took him to a Metallica concert. I'm sure talking English for a year straight makes you fluent. And Tuomas is reader, he reads books by Dawkins etc. He's clearly a very intelligent man, with a genius musical insight.

    OH MY ... I won't add anything to end cause I don't believe of that BS. He doesn't tell how he is composing his music because he is so modest. He makes all the lyrics to highlight the singers and he's send all demos to every band members to have there opinions heard. What more can you expect? You all should check the lyrics of all their songs so that you could understand what he's talking about. Last album is truly a legacy for this band. (by the way, Tuomas comes from a talented family, his aunt is a famous actress in Finland)

    Heads up, long comment ahead.
    Concerning inspiration, I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that he just sits around and waits for it to come. No actual artist or writer does that, I believe. What I think he meant (and he elaborates on it in the documentary especially) is that he needs the music to mean something. There needs to be a driving force for him to be able to create something, he needs to have something to say and that needs to come first.
    The art needs meaning and message before it can happen. I think that's what he means.
    Tuomas has said before that he doesn't make songs just for the sake of making a song, ever. There needs to be something bigger in it that he connects with. And personally I understand that so well; it's the artist and perfectionist spirit that needs to impute everything you do with deeper meaning. Work can never be JUST work.
    So it's not about waiting around for inspiration to strike you. I think for him it's feeling and thinking a lot pretty much all the time but having to find the right channel to express them with your talent. And THAT takes a lot of work. I'm not a musician but I feel very similarly about my own artistic process as Tuomas. What takes the most work is the preparation and finding the vision, and once you nail it and find the right thing, the process starts to flow and finally comes out in a rush. But it takes time and a lot of work. And after that a lot of editing, for sure :)

    If your not stressed and are in a quite boring surroundings it's easy for things to imagine. If your under stress and very busy it's normally harder to come up with ideas which is probably why you keep writing until something appears in front of you and you go o.k. that looks cool I feel I've come across or discovered something in my writings. But not every time will you come across something really amazing under stress?. Some times you need that quite calm place to find what your looking for. Look at some of the greatest novel writer's, they usually go to a quite place to reflect and think and it just comes to them. So everyone is different and some Excell under stress but if someone ever rushes me... well I would tell them don't expect quality as my craft takes time to perfect.
