If you post this 2 days ago, then why did this poste 1 minute?
Disturbing kids shows characters terrifying 🤨🔥☠️
Another character would be Ratafak Plachca from Slineko in what was Czechoslovakia in the 1980s. He to the naked eye looks like the stuff of nightmares and makes you wonder why Ratafak was around children.
All of them, 1000% and they're disturbing
Bozo the Clown gave me nightmares as a kid
Disturbing kids' show characters have left a legacy throughout the decades. Somehow they amplify the experience for most audiences all around the world.
They are also very cringeworthy, it’s so bad it’s good
Why are all the creepy live-action kids shows from England...
Cause they are british
Check the British history of the past 2000 years
We are pretty fucked up i guess 💀
@@typicalghost6930what makes British scary ?
Because British is scarier. Just look at their teeth.
Noseybonk! Am 42 now, but I vividly remember hearing his theme tune when I was young, and literally running out of the room!
Here in Brazil we had a character called Fofão, a furry alien with big cheeks (which look like a scrotum) who hosted a kids show, released music and a lot of toys, including a doll. In the 90s, a rumor started that there was a black knife inside the Fofão doll (it was actually a structure to hold the head), and this became an urban legend, with some churches burning the doll to remove the "demon" inside lol
Oh yeah, Fofão was mentioned in another similar countdown
And now you guys have Garibaldo
@@ChizuruAotsuki Blameitonjorge
@A Suicune On The OBX no, I just edited
@@hannahmartin9705 Yes! I actually looked that video up after commenting and am gonna rewatch it soon!
I normally don't comment but I had to this time. I am shocked that "The Letter People" did not make it in this countdown. That show traumatized me for many years as a kid. They were like demon puppets from the depths of hell haunting my nightmares. There was just something completely horrifying and demonic about them and I felt like death was just around the corner. The only thing I liked about that show was the intro song. But when I saw those puppets, I got so terrified. They still creep me out to this day. What were those puppet builders thinking?
It didn't help that I mostly saw that show when I was home from school sick. Watching when you are feverish and half asleep really creates nightmares!
@@teresadixon2899 Yikes, that must've been horrifying for you! I totally empathize.
I agree
I remember “The Letter People”! Loved watching it when I was little!
I know I'll be in the great minority but the Sun on the Teletubbies used to scare the hell out of me! Along with that creepy animated Spider-Man at the end of the Muppet Babies closing credits.
Limbo is ironically the most underrated Muppet in my opinion. Yes, he may be unsettling to our modern society, but it was also aired during a psychedelica heavy time. Just listen to the old synthesizer.
As a child at that time, it never bothered me at all.
I mean, it’s just a face made out of noodly circles
What Watchmojo forgot to mention is that Limbo was in a short called “The Organized Mind” that aired prior to the creation of Sesame Street. He’s one interesting fella!
7:50 If Annabelle saw the puppets from Peppermint Park, she would speed dial the cops in a heartbeat.
That can work as a short sketch.
Fun Fact: The character Mr. Chuckle Teeth from the TV show "The X-Files" was based on Mr. Noseybonk. A creepy character from a kids show inspired the creation of another creepy character from a kids show inside a creepy TV show.
I remember that!
One of the very last episodes in the series, in fact.
Who thinks The X-Files is for kids?
@@knightofarkronia8652 The X-Files isn't for kids. But in one of the last episodes in the whole series ("Familiar" s11e8), Mulder and Scully were investigating a series of kidnappings/murders connected with a satanic cult brought on by a creepy preschool show whose mascot disturbingly resembled Mr. Nosybonk.
(and I think it or another show also ripped off the Teletubbies, but I could be remembering wrong; I haven't watched that episode in years).
In the Netherlands we had in the 90's a education series called "Ik Mik Lorreland". In that series the villain was a puppet character called "Karbonkel". He had a scary voice and looked terrible scary and ugly. He even said and did mean things. A lot of children were (and still are) afraid of him. When a TV was rolled into a classroom to watch that series (it's educational after all) a lot of kids started crying even before the VHS tape started rolling because they knew who they would see...
I heard of him.
I saw an episode of that. It was interesting
When I saw limbo on your countdown, it brought back memories of being afraid of that thing they call a puppet. I haven’t thought of limbo in 40 years but when I saw it on your show, it flooded back like a nightmare.
Limbo scared me too. He wasn't even supposed to be on Sesame Street. He was made for a short film Jim Henson created called Limbo the organized mind. I was so happy when they got rid of limbo because I would cry and cry until he was gone. His voice and the way he looked scared me when I was a little girl.
Two words: Rataphak Plachta. He is the true stuff of nightmares. Mr. Nosybonk runs and hides in terror when he shows up, especially when he dances.
I heard of him!
Rataphak is pretty wholesome character after you hear his backtory
@@UnknownPerson-wc7wf He helped ended communism.
More like WhatTheFuck 😂😂
Y’all misspelled his name it’s „Raťafák Plachta“
I remember LImbo too well -- it scared the shit out of me as a kid.
I'm kinda shocked that none of the "good guys" from Sid & Marty Kroft made this list. Lidsville alone was enough for nightmares.
ngl most of the numberjacks villains are just something else, especially the man in the white suit
Yeah, the numbertaker. It's even creepier since he never spoke
Great Video! *these characters scare me...*
Noo-noo (from the teletubbies) always scared me as a kid. He’s so creepy looking as well with those big dead eyes that stare into your soul 😂😂
I knew I couldn't be the only one!
I've Been Waiting For This List From WatchMojo!
I think this video needs a part 2 or a part 3 because there are many more creepy looking characters besides those freaks like the Groke from the moomins, dirt girl, or Ratafak Plachta.
I actually had one of those zippy dolls as a kid. Traumatising stuff I tell you. I'm good I never saw the show. The zippy doll was my mum's when she was a kid
That telechat phone is so HORRIFYING!! Why did the creators think it would be a good idea to have a face on a phone speaker!?! Would it be less terrifying if that face was on the smokebox of a steam train like Thomas and Friends?
I think Barney should have been on this list, I always felt unsettled by his presence and mannerisms even as a kid.
The British are really good at making creepy characters.
Yup... Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan. The tradition continues 🙂
Wizadora, wow i used to love that show. Brought back lovely memories thank you.
Interesting that most of these characters are from British kids shows.
What about Barney as a doll from Season 1?
Anyone else think the telephone from the wizard show looks like the baby from Dinosaurs?
Some of these would make for great Halloween costumes to scare people with.
Limbo is actually someone who wants to be loved...
Bob the train creeps me out with those souless, unblinking eyes.
Not his appearance, but the mannequin in "Everyday's Special", who comes to life at night, but cannot leave the department store, always filled me with existential dread.
I don't think that was the name of the show. I always thought it was "Special Delivery," but that's not it either. I do know what show you're talking about, though.
I had to Google it, but the show was called "Today's Special." We were both close, since we knew "Special" was in the title. lol
Mr. Blobby is a child of Pennywise in my view
Mr Blooby also had a number hit single over Xmas 1993!
"obviously this excludes shows that are meant to be terrifying"
Watchmojo: Adds Flapjack...
The goofy hatrack who sang "My Hat, It Has 3 Corners" (a song made popular by Mr. Rogers 2 years later) in the 1992 children's video Wee Sing in The Marvelous Musical Mansion.
Speaking of Mr. Rogers; Old Goat was the only MRN character I remember creeping me out as a kid. His beady eyes, goofy smile, weird "BAA-ing" sounds and light gray fur were kind of an odd mixture of uncanny on a level of Mr. Rogers puppets.
Also, thanks to penguinz0 aka Moist Cr1tikal, I have an "appreciation" for Peppermint Park and Noseybonk, lol.
I remember Limbo. He scared me so much when I was little. It worked because I learned how to count to ten in fear of him appearing one day. At the age of 19, I'm not as afraid; in fact, his voice is low-key soothing now and he looks like rubberbands...however he does sound like a detonation countdown which makes him a bit unnerving still.
Freddy the Frog, New Zoo Review from the early 70s
So what did we learn today kids? Never let Britain design your kiddy show mascots.
I'm surprised Dan Schnieder is not on this list
Haha good one
Right using kids as fetish material
I saw some of these characters from one of blameitonjorge’s videos from his CZcams channel.
What about nosy blanket from Slinecko? The puppet is a blanket that can move at demonic speed with a long neck, with a face that can make a mad scientist want to change their looks.
AAAH! Mr. Noseybonk! One of the most frightening kids’ show characters ever spawned!
About time WatchMojo acknowledges him!
6:49 The way the voice-over sounded in this segment fits right in to how creepy the show is.
8:16 YOU'RE NOT ERNIE (whoever you are, Emo Philips) AND THIS IS NOT SESAME STREET!
8:36 That pig sounds like Kermit the Frog. GET ME OUTTA PEPPERMINT PARK!
Those martians from Sesame Street creeped me out as a kid
Wiz bit looks like Bill cipher on steroids
Priceless!
Some of these are so UK specific. I grew up with a lot of these. I don't think Zig and Zag are that bad. However, I did find the puppets from Dizzy Heights/House of Gristle a bit creepy. Still watched them, though...
I'm surprised the Yip Yips weren't on this list. Those things scared the crap out of me!
I'd like to know how Elaine Fairchilde from Mister Roger's neighborhood didn't make the list. That puppet always creeped me out.
Another one id like to add is the house from Step inside (This is basically what you would get if you took one of the faces from Thomas the Tank Engine and placed it on the front of a house).
Like”The Misadventures Of Flapjack” wasn’t already disturbing enough as it was.
From all the times I watched Sesame Street before outgrowing it once starting middle school, I've never heard of Limbo.
These shows are tame compared to the 80s show called "TerraHawks"
I still have nightmares about the character named Zelda.
I never saw Wizbit, but I'd be scared of the rabbit, too. Looks like something out of Cabin Fever.
in Australia we had E.C, a eyeless doll in the show Lift off, with many crazy puppets. There was Dicky Knee on hey hey it;s saturday, not disturbing, but funny. The most disturbing, the face in Muligrubs (some clips are on youtube) I was always disturbed by THE CLOCK in the Magic Library.. freaky thing.
'Of course I can talk, except now I'm singing!'
Zippy looks like that evil Muppet from the Willkins Coffee ads.
Bird Big use to creep me out. Thinking about it he still does.
Watching this list is like watching the Nazis open the ark in the first Indiana Jones movie.
“It’s beautiful!”
Eye Guy and Terror Toad from Power Rangers scared me a little bit once
I could only think about blameitonjorge and the video he made on this same topic but with alot more characters lol
They all seem to be the same show !
9:52 this bit genuinely jumpscared me 😅
That thumbnail would be nightmare fuel in the Saw movies
The puppet from the Teletubbies gave me nightmares for years… even now it’s still unsettling.
Live action Garbage Pail Kids still give me cold sweats 😳
Peppermint Park is legit distressing.
Rataflak plachta will always be my number source of nightmares no matter what this list says
I love it
This is one of many reasons I love the DHMIS series.
Zippy was orange because his creator was a fan of Dundee United who play in orange. I think his voice was, for a while, Peter Hawkins who also voiced the Daleks in Dr Who. I'm sure his persona was deliberately that of an annoying child so he could be threatened with the zip.
I once met Paul Daniels who was keen to do his Wizbit voices but the show was after our time really.
Mr Blobby was only for a fake kids show to prank celebs so he was meant to look as silly as possible.
'Jigsaw' was on when I was a kid, but I didn't find anything sinister about Mr Noseybonk. Maybe it was the happy tune ('A Hippo Called Hubert') or the fact that I suspected he was just presenter Adrian Hedley in a costume.
0:09 That looks like one of the puppets from Jim Henson’s Wilkins Coffee commercials.
Beaker from Muppets creeped me out. For one, his eyes never blinked!
He was my favorite, but I admit that he was a little bit creepy
WatchMojo, I just wanted to let you that the good news is that the disturbing TV kid shows have ended, the bad news is that some of the voice actors were of the characters in kids shows have sadly died, because of their cause of deaths. For Wizbit, Wilf Lunn was the self presenter of this show and was also a British inventor, he was born in March 20, 1942 and sadly he died in December 13, 2023, he was 81 years old.
Goodbye forever Wilf Lunn :(
(March 20, 1924 - December 13, 2023)
Ugh. All of these. Totally disturbing.
Disturbing adults on acid behind these 🤦♀️
Haven't even watched all of these yet, but if you haven't, add Bananas in Pajamas.
I never found anything much wrong with Zippy in Rainbow. I loved it growing up.
Bear in the Big blue house scared me. The sun, luna and shadow were just plain put freaky
I see all that new drywall, makes me wonder how many times you will replace drywall cause the kid went though it.
Witchy Poo on HR Puffinstuff, probably wasn’t meant to be spooky but she scared the crap outta me!!!
I find her hilarious!
Puff and stuff was very creepy to me in the 70s
I’m surprised that the puppets from The Wiggles weren’t included. Those things literally gave children freaking nightmares THROUGHOUT the 1990s!
I was wondering about them, as well.
Ebenezer from Pinwheel
Mr. Noseybok is basically “The Babadook and Pinocchio having a child”
😆 Good one!
Jigsaw from SAW was a puppet named "Mr. Noseybonk?" ...and the kids' show looks 100x creepier than the movies!
Him from the power puff girls should’ve been on this list
What is the party hat called? Whizbit? Was it a reject from "Lidsville"?
How come these types of lists never seem to include characters from the nightmare fuel shows I watched as a child, like "Gigglesnort Hotel" and "Outerscope"? I loved them and feared them at the same time!
Limbo just now scared the crap out of me
I wouldn’t be surprised if Noseybonk was the inspiration for that terrifying X-files character
I got admit I thought Barney and Boo'bahs was disturbing but blobby is right up there with them
Puppets use to creep me out mad and no one around me cared
Zippy is literally my favorite character from Rainbow.
Most of those were from live action british tv shows, why you gotta do us like that mate?
Phoebe got mixed up with a rough crowd and is now known as The Evil Bong.
Rabbit had me even more freaked out
8:19 he sounds like the Squeaky-voiced Teen from The Simpsons...
Lol yes
I feel like Mr Noseybonk should be a horror movie character instead of a children’s show character
Lady Elaine Fairchild from mr rogers neighborhood
I always hated that character!
I remember Snuffaluffagus scared me when I was younger 😂😅
Eureka's Castle has one creepy character it was the monster living in next door outside was defintly creepy.the three fishes were very creepy.
You didn't have to do Blobby like that smh
The only one I ever saw before was amazing adventures of flapjack. But, lol, all of this was scary though.
Now we know where gravity falls design came from
