It's quiet, it really blows, it's elegant looking, czcams.com/users/postUgkxmj9RYGCX25BElHkuWjHec-2_muyUGyCm remote is handy. Not too difficult to assemble (see below)The assembly instructions left out a few tips, IMHO (see photo for my tips)Oh, and be patient when you attach the cage halves together (last step). You might want to loosen the screw just a little bit before you start. It's awkward (don't drop it!), but you'll get it.
This is the Gold Standard for a DIY build video. Just the info needed, no annoying music, good lighting, good camera angles, explanation of the circuits including SAFETY, software configuration. start to finish. All that on top of an excellent build.
I used to work for a company manufacturing industrial CNC's, the amount of work that went into one was staggering and what they could produce never ceased to amaze me. Well done on your build.

I love the fast editing. No waffle, keeps it interesting and down to the essentials. Packs a lot into 1h without getting a yawn. A real change from a lot of people who seem more interested in being a star than communicating useful info. Great video. Thanks.
Exactly, every moment is edited perfectly, slowing down at the start of something to show what is being done, then speeding it up as he narrates. I'm the type of person that is always looking out for how things could be better, and i have nothing to say for improvements :)
I watch all my vids in 1.5 speed anyways too. I've been way more efficient at content cramming, if I could understand language easily at 2x I would.
You sir ROCK in a pretty serious way. I fell in love with CNC carving a few years ago after and built my first CNC (all metal 16" x 18" x 5") but have been planning a bigger model build for a couple years. As am Emmy award winning video editor for 50 years I want to commend you on a great job in editing. I always say 90% of edits are cuts and dissolves not fancy wipes or special effects. One thing I look for is quality audio as well. Your v/o were clear and background audio was kept low. Your lighting and closeups were on point as well. Setting up cameras and such is a pain when u are trying to accomplish a build, the effort was noticeable. I know this edit took a lot of time as well the actual build itself.
Just wanted to acknowledge the extreme effort on your part. It was an enjoyable view.

You are my new woodworking hero! I have been drooling over CNCs for a while and I could never justify the cost, to my husband. This is impressive and I know it added a ton of time just trying to make the video. Thank you! Halfway through I thought, "I bet I can add a dust collection system to it when it's done". No need, you though of everything! When I am ready to start building and download the plans/cost breakdown, I will buy a weeks worth or t-shirts from your site and a sticker to adorn the CNC.

This video paid for about 16 CNC machines, and he deserves every penny X 10. This is an amazing build and he shows us all what you can do with plywood, a lot of glue and screws and a whole lot of labor. It had to have taken forever.... months, at least to build this.

Just as everyone has already said, if anybody is ever going to make a tutorial video then they should watch and pay very close attention to this one.
I wish I'd seen this a couple of years ago because now I want my own CNC machine. I have the space for a 4x8 footer but really wouldn't use half of it. Now its just a matter of saving my pennies! Although it'll take me several times of rewatching this video for reference to complete. I'm not electronic literate so that may take awhile itself. I'm glad you walked me through that part, the little helper did an awesome job as well! Thanks again!

I study cnc programming at college and was cnc milling machinist with up to 40 to 120 automatic tool magazine once upon a time long ago ....... even involved with airplane body molding project in front of pilot that was on a rail with 3 axis ......... but I couldn't imagine $900 cnc machine home made ! This is most important video to me. Good job .!..!...!.......
I built my own CNC, it took over a year! I would have liked to have seen this before I built that one 6 years ago-great video and very complete. Great Job. Using 4 motors gives it more accuracy- wish mine had that . I have since bought a Maverick CNC, but building my own really helped me understand CNC. Take your time and make it right - you won't regret it.

Detailed, concise and easy to follow in conjunction with the drawings.. Very well done. Looks like a 200 hour project with a basic understanding of woodworking, electrical and CNC programming along with a reasonably well equipped workshop. I must admit it never occurred to me DIN rail could be used for such an application. Very well done.

Impressive... I have used a 2D plotter cutter for making signs for many many years, and every time somebody looks amazed as it cuts a hunk of vinyl film, I tell them a cad machine does the same thing, except it does depth also. Thanks for the evening entertainment. :)

I love your cnc I wanted to build it so much. The actual woodwork I could do without much bother but as soon as you got to the electrics I was totally lost. I'm alright with electrics but this part went way over my head
Now I know where the majority of the cost for this project is, it's in beer! A couple hundred dollars in material, the rest in beer! You did a really good job on this! It's really impressive!!

Hi, I really enjoyed this video, good pics and explanation. As an entrance project into the world of CNC I think the $900 build cost was more than fair. I respect opinons from others and to be fair at this stage of my knowledge and ability I do not as yet understand half of what they said but I know I will learn as I go. I am going to have a crack at it for now and maybe add to it/make mods once I have it up and running and understand it a bit more. I loved you wiring schematic, easy to understand and this is often a part of a build that is overlooked so well done again. Many thanks for you time and effort.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm planning a CNC build, and the electronics and wiring seem to be the most difficult parts. I'm thrilled he included it because I've never seen anyone go into it in a build video. I wish I could give his video a thousand thumbs up.

Hi Brad. Your build gave me the courage to get started building my own CNC router table. I just wanted to post to say thanks.
I didn't hit the $900 water mark but only doubled the overall cost. I figured it's a fair trade off for a mostly steel constructed design with ball screws, linear rails and a 2.2KW Water Cooled Spindle Motor+220V/110V Inverter+80MM Clamp+Water Pump.
Gotta love Aliexpress and Amazon!

i think steel is the only way to go for precision and longevity. A wood construction will not last long i think and would be prone to many issues including humidity.
I wonder why anyone would use a water cooled spindle motor? I've owned 3 CNC machines, one had water cooling. It was a PIA. Our current machine has many 1000s of hours on the 12hp air cooled spindle motor with no problems. It runs all day, everyday.
I am looking at about £1200-£1800 to make a machine, this includes enclosure out of wood, extraction system, vacuum table, filter system, you might think all that stupid on a cnc mill but looking to have it as a 2.2KW spindle and can take that off and put another head on for a CO2 laser, maybe 80 watt+ but might look at higher for one to engrave metal, looking to also get rack and pinion for better precision than belt but haven't yet learnt how someone makes that work yet, looking for 3ft by 2ft area as when in a home can't go too big

A very well-thought-out design. Amazing what you can do with wood! The only change I might make is to add cam mounts to the guide wheels to allow them to be adjusted. Even though they’re bolted down tight they will move over time as the surrounding wood is compressed under load.

At $900, it's dead cheap, but if you were to source used parts and maybe be a little inventive, you could knock one out at half the price!!

I must say I could tell quickly this was above my skill level. That did not stop me from watching to the end. Your tutorial is so clear and concise and easy to follow. I love that you fast forwarded through the assembly. I agree you, are brilliant. And you even watched the baby. How do you keep your hands so soft? Every woman needs a guy like you.
Nothing is above your skill level. I've amazed myself when I've stopped, thought, planned, and executed. It's the planning that's the key to everything. A failure to plan is a plan to fail. This machine is no different to a desktop CNC machine you can order from Ebay. The only difference is the scale...the electronics and Gcode is identical. The difference is this guy has planned it out to a science, and looking at his garage he has all the knowledge of his tools and their capabilities. Anyone who takes their time and researches what needs doing can do this, but don't think that he just spat this out in a day. It took significant planning, tools, thought for future issues, and finally pulling the trigger. You can do this. Certain tools like a table saw would be beneficial and almost necessary for accurate cuts. I'm almost thinking of approaching my employer to let me make and use one where I work after hours as I have no room in my apartment :)))))
Your skill level goes up every time you don’t let your current skill level stop you from trying. Failure is the greatest teacher.
