The best Nike reps are better than factory in most cases. The high grade/LW Yeezy slide reps are 95-100%/identical multiple people I know are pissed they paid retail lmao. OG batch 700 v3 yeezys are as good or better than the originals. You'll find this with other reps too. Not always though!
Thing is most idiots buy from resellers and dont even get good rep batches then show them off as 'good' when often they aren't. You gotta learn bit about reps and sourcing to get the good stuff, use an agent, even for 1 shoe you'll have better control over batch and similar or less price. What's really hilarious is that there are still people outraged at how brands make money, like get over it we've been knowing this forever. Would be interesting to see how the New Balace foam compares to the others. I have some Ultraboost, but that shoe is different. The sole is pretty wide and compared to a lot of Adidas with soft fabric, you don?t tent to slib of the sole inside the shoe. And the feeling of cushion is almost strangely soft whilst still giving more support then the Ultraboost. Feels like walking on moss. Maybe because the foot is more encapsuled because of the wider sole. It also has a very stiff toe rim, which most of the Adidas are lacking. Anyways. I think itˋs pretty sophisticated and well thought construction.

The steel ball drop test which analyzes coefficient of restitution and comparison to other models, durometer hardness test on the outsole and midsole, flame test to identify materials, material thickness measurement, eyelet pull force to rupture test, the smoke breath ability test, and of course the dissections combined with the knowledge of all things shoes really set these videos apart. The low bounce height suggests whats called a low restitution coefficient in collisions
Basically how much energy is imparted back into the collsion and how much is lost as heat, sound, etc
A harder plastic having a lower coefficient of restitution makes sense, if you measure the volume and mass of a piece of it to find the density too, it’d likely be enough to identify what the material is
Also the reason for the unwinding is likely different material, the tighter wind in the balenciaga after a shear failure suggests its more plastic than elastic (as strain hardening doesn’t happen in purely elastic materials, hence why it retains a shape after being cut) - it’s likely for that reason a polymer; couldn’t tell you which one
Measuring tensile strength and melting point might work though

-Any Adidas 4d shoe (they have a really interesting futuristic look and the tech behind it is really cool too)
-any Nike shoe with full air units (vapormax for eg.)
    - any Space Hippie shoe (the whole recycling thing behind them is probably 90% marketing but the high top one has an interesting lacing system, and the whole line looks super interesting)
-Balenciaga Oversized Sneaker (i'm genuinely interested how high the leather quality on those)
-any Adidas Blade shoe just for the memes
-any Yeezy slide type shoe with the full foam upper (im curious whether they are any good or just a Crocs for the price of two Crocs)
-any "cheaper" self lacing shoes (i belive the Nike Adapt's current iteration is the cheapest rn but don't quote me on that one)
-any WeAreUnderdog sneaker (bonus points, you could make a collab with the designer of said shoes a lot easier cuz they are sometimes youtubers too)
i hope any of these catches your eye i would be really pleased to see any of these on this channel (tbh i'm already happy with the lot of sneakerhead content on the channel lately so keep it up man )

I’m curious. Maybe running shoes are different but I love all the bounce tests and all that but I’ve been selling skate shoes for 20+ years and have heard a million foam sales pitches. I do remember when adidas “boost” and “bounce” came out but it caught me off guard because up until that point I had always been taught that a foam should absorb shock and not bounce. Ive always been told that if the foam has a bounce that means that energy would be returning into your foot and joints. So a foam should absorb impact so that the energy is not returned to your joints. If you drop a steel bearing on a bed of poron it will literally thud and almost not bounce at all which means the energy is captured and your body is protected from impact. I think footprint insoles famously shows this in all their marketing for skateboarding insoles. I understand running is different than skateboarding but the science behind absorbing impact seems like it should be the same and in that case the balenciaga shoes performed the best for high level impact resistance. I’m just curious if anyone out there knows more about this.

In my understanding, there's a big difference in desired function. If you land on your board, you want your feet to stay on the board rock solid. Unlike in skateboarding, the returned energy has a purpose in running by helping you push off for the next step.

At least with brands like Dior and Chanel, the founder's aesthetic continues in the brand's modern iteration (questions of quality aside), but Balenciaga's aesthetics today are an insult to its founder's legacy. When he closed his fashion house, it should have been left that way.

As someone with a pair of these, they’re actually really comfortable. The foam soles are no memory foam.

Hi, Loved the vid, had a question: About that ball bearing drop test, why is bouncier better? isn't shoe soles supposed to suppress and absorb shocks rather than spring them right back at your feet?

As always, great job demystifying overpriced shoes. If I could humbly request the following to be next to get the knife:
    Balenciaga SSS
    Reebok zigtech
Anything with APL "load and launch" tech

@Marc Carran yes, because the shoes I listed are either hiding behind a brand or potential buzzwords in order to generate a sale. I requested "humbly" because I acknowledged I'm not in a position to make an outright demand. If he does it, awesome if not, he still makes great content that I'm a fan of. What's the problem?

@Marc Carran I don't think you understand how his channel works. While he doesn't explicitly take requests, and I'm sure they have a long list of shoes already waiting to be cut, I'm also sure that they're looking and listening for potential suggestions. I've been collecting shoes for more than 20 years, and I know enough to have some in mind that might add a little more in terms of just shows with foam and leather.
But yeah, sure, people shouldn't interact with content creators. Just shut up and watch. I gotcha. I'm sure he appreciates you white knighting him.

    • @RetroKid
      @RetroKid Před rokem +1

@Marc Carran so then how would you suggest going about making a suggestion? Would, "can I make a suggestion" have been better than "can I humbly request"? Because I think it's less about semantics with you and more about you just having a problem with people asking in general.

Just an FYI regarding the wallet sponsor with the RFID claim. The only time you need to worry about rfid is if your card has the wifi-looking logo on it. RFID uses a hidden passive sircuit and operates via tapping the card, the same way transit cards work, and is mostly phased out in credit/debit cards (as i understand it at least). The metallic exposed chip is a different system called EMV, which is used in the modern insert type readers and requires direct contact.
As a result, if your cards have the EMV chip but no wifi logo on them, you do not have to worry about rfid blocking. Hence in the sponsor secgmet the circle should be around the logo, not the emv chip

These shoes are just a copy of nike free run 1.0s i had some like 10 years ago. They were pretty good for running but they were not comfortable. The split bottom means its rubber basically and it's hard.

You are paying for the price but even so I would expect ultraboost levels of comfort in this shoe just because I would expect better craftsmanship from a status symbol product.
