Kenobi is probably one of the saddest characters in star wars he dedicated his life to the Jedi and had to see how friends loved ones and everybody he truly loved die. At least Luke survived.
It's insane how he saw everyone die around him, and he didn't turn to the dark side, this shows the composure and the connection that Obi Wan has with the light side
The simple way Alec was able to show the sadness and ptsd from the clone wars and prequels when they didn’t even exist yet just through that thousand yard stare and long pauses is really amazing…..
Actually je read the script for Revenge of the Sith before filming, so he knew the whole story. There's an unused cut of Alec Guinness saying "And he was a good friend. Could never get the high ground tho. Which reminds me"
In France it was even more confusing after the release of the prequel. We don't know why but it was translated to the "Black War" even though the prequels talk about the Clone War
Saddest part is guiness didn't like the writing of starwars: a new hope and though it was boring and old-fashioned. But he still did his job, and did it well. 😌
You can tell Anakin was trying to fight his inner pain, inner hurt, his anger.. it was only really a matter of time before he wouldn't be able to control it
Well his master's told him to literally forget about his mom when he was right about her obi wan didn't help at all when he said padme needed help they tossed aside all his force visions hell that's why they cast out sipodias he had force visions of order66 andthe emporerbut all the Jedi called him crazy, which I think is the point we getso secure feel safe just because by our own experiences that you didn't even see the darkness coming and ignored all the warnings you were given I mean Anakin just gave up the right way to get results it's why grand moff tarkin liked Anakin/Vader so mu h

They aren't the same💁🏻♀️ Anakin died so that Vader could be born. Hell, even physically they aren't the same person. Vader is well over 50% machine, and 100% badass. I can't think of one single part of Anakin that still lives on anywhere in Vader, he's just not Anakin at all.
The original trilogy was for our grandparents and parents. The prequel trilogy is for us and our children. The sequel trilogy....well...we don't talk about the sequel trilogy...
The way mr Guinness was able to add so much to this speech with nothing there. I mean, there was no clone wars, no obi wan anakin relationship then, nothing. All he knew was that this was a rather melancholy moment for Ben, and added SO MUCH that we are able to look at this moment and see him hurting, and know why he’s hurting, despite Alec not knowing. That’s a special kind of acting.
One of the best tales of betrayal and loss that’s ever been created. Wild to think that one man just dreamt all of this up, and years later it’s formed such a personal connection with so many of us. So many of us see a bit of ourselves in these characters or draw similarities from the strife they’ve endured. It’s a beautiful thing, truly.
Poor Anny… he did what the human spirit was born to do. Sacrifice for the one he loved the most. Just like Van Gogh.. this world wasn’t made for one as beautiful as him
Obi really deserved a better life. He spent his entire life fighting, never had the chance to settle down, even after the Jedi order failed, and watched over the children of his friend, who betrayed him. The guy’s story rivals that of a saint. At this point, his character is literally space Jesus. He was tempted and yet never faltered, and always followed the code.
To say that everything was created after that movie where we Obiwan told everything about him at Luck is really impressing. They truly created such emotive relationships.
George Lucas wrote a masterpiece, that whole video gave me goosebumps, and the video clip of Obi-Wan Kenobi having PTSD definitely tugged on my heart strings
I watched the original trilogy when I was nine years old or so, the some years later I decided to watch all 6 movies in the order, and when I rewatched that scene, it was one of the six times I cried for a film/book
Without a doubt I wish he hadn’t turned bad he was a very good character in Star Wars it just makes me sad on how horrible he turned to the dark side after all he had done for the republic
Agreed but I believe Lucas himself is quoted as saying that Star Wars is a tragedy actually. It follows the troupes of one. And it’s a damn good one too to produce such feelings in people about fictional characters.
Its honestly so wholesome yet sad that even despite everything Anakin had done and the way they parted on Mustafar, Obi Wan still remembers Anakin fondly.
The line “best star pilot in the galaxy” is very accurate. He literally flew a TIE fighter backwards and engaged an entire squadron of A-Wings all by himself.
Poor Aakin, such a tragic character. Listening to Kenobi and remembering all the shit that poor guy went through since he was a kid made me shed a tear. His story is one of the greatest ever told and Hayden did a hell of a job playing him. He will always be the real Anakin Skywalker for me. I think no one would have it done better. Like Mark is the only real Skywalker after him. And Carrie of course. F* them Disney movies and Rey.

This is why it always bugs me when people say George Lucas doesn't understand storytelling, even back then it was always going to branch off into such great character development.. and obi wan is living proof
