Hi, thank you for this demonstration of this problem. It's quite possible that the problem could be caused by a dead battery. I installed a new LCD cable. Everything was working fine on AC power only (without battery). Yesterday, I wanted to do a battery report on my dead battery to make 100% sure it was dead before recycling it. Everything ran fine with the dead battery present. I removed the battery and plugged in the laptop back on AC power and I was greeted by a white screen. Now I have to replace the LCD cable for a 2nd time :(. This is on an Asus X501A.
I would clean the pins on the data cable and the motherboard, soft wire brush to clean oxidization from the connectors of the cable and the motherboard, then some rubbing alcohol. The connector was tight but you could influence it by touching it so that tells me it did not have a great connection. often, connections such as this can be oxidized by the air with humidity, dust etc, this can effect the electricity going to the other end, in this case to the monitor.
