Great video. One pro that is often overlooked is the fact that the lens and display on the OP3 are very close together and are aligned vertically. This means your eyes will appear to be looking directly into the lens and have a more direct connection with your audience. Bigger cameras with the display to the side tend to lose that eye contact with the audience because even though we can train ourselves to look into the lens, most of us have the habit of looking at ourselves 😂
Never thought about that but such a great point! I can't for the life of me get use to looking at the lens when I Vlog! 😂

Solid review, Mikee! Thanks for sharing. We use multiple devices, but a lot of our vlogs have been shot with the DJI Pocket 2. Glad to see they improved the lowlight capabilities in the Pocket 3 (but not so much the exposure compensation). Nevertheless, it seems the new form factor of the Pocket 3 and suite of incremental updates are worth upgrading for!

I just bought the DJI Action4 and have been loving it for vlogging. It's decent in lowlight and rugged enough to endure 2 months of traveling through SE Asia during monsoon season. But now I want the Pocket 3 because of the low light quality and the external mic. I can add a mic to my Action4 but how the transmitter attaches is awkward. I also shoot with the Sony a6700 but it mainly just sits in my bag because it's so big and intrusive when I'm vlogging in public. Great review, thanks for sharing your experience!
Appreciate the comment! I also have the osmo action 4 and putting it up for sale. Not because I don't like it but I just don't need it. I find I haven't been doing a ton of action related things or in wet conditions plus I have an insta go3. Quality isn't as good as the action 4 though. Sounds like the pocket 3 will be the perfect addition to your kit! Awesome channel btw!
This is such a great review! Haven’t heard many others talk about all the benefits on the creator combo for this camera. You and the creator who pointed out that Sony EV 10 + accessories cost double the DJI have convinced me to make the purchase! Thanks Mike😊

So good! My ZV-E1 is the main camera too, but i've been wanting a ZV-1 M II and have been holding off, but now i think i want this as the b-roll cam! So impressed by it and the low light! Also, I had a Daves on Melrose in LA and it was good but i never had a crunch in my fries :(
Definitely give this a look as your bcam! Highly recommend over the zv1 mkII since you have the e1 already. The tracking is amazing! Damn, I wonder if people are air frying them to get that crunch 🤣

I'm pretty happy with my purchase of the Pocket 3, the creator combo is the way to go for people that want to get into vlogging. If your just shooting footage, family, friends, parties and special events than the standard camera will save you some money, the outer mics are pretty good. Lowlight is really good the 1 inch sensor helps a lot, I would say this is the camera of the year so GoPro and everybody else better step up their game.
I totally agree! So glad I sold my GoPro earlier this year. It’s the first time ever that I’m actually GoPro-less which is shocking. But the potential of this pocket 3 is exciting. Way more use cases then your normal action cam (aside from of course action lol).

The chicken looked SO GOOD! We don’t have a Dave’s anywhere near us😭 I loved the review on the post 3! I have been wanting one but I bought the Sony zv1 mark ii a few weeks before the DJI was announced😭
Ugh I know! New cameras are always coming out! lol. I was thinking I would rerun this but I’m keeping it lol! With that said, I still do prefer holding an actual camera for the style of vlogging I do. It just feels better in my hands but I suppose if I used the pocket 3 more I’d get use to it. I like it as a tabletop device, so don’t have too much buyers remorse 🤣. Plus, the zv1 ii is awesome for photos so that’s a plus for when traveling!

i have a zv e 10 and have been contemplating hard on this! i think i will get it and return my recently bought gimbal for my sony!! this camera feels more personable if that makes sense
I think this would definitely be better than the Sony on a gimbal since it's so easy to just start up and go! And not to mention much smaller! Plus, you'd have two cams vs 1 now!

Interesting how it does a product view when you hold the chicken close. I have the pocket 2 and wondering if its worth the upgrade. Definitely filming in vertical makes worth it. Thank you for your video.
Yes! I didn't see a lot of people showing how product view works even when not on the actual setting (as long as you kinda cover your face). I found it a little unintuitive having to access the menu to turn on product feature (where on my Sony ZV-1 has a quick button for it). So I'm glad it works that way as it saves time having to start and stop just to show something up close.

Hi there! Honestly I don't think so unless you want to add dynamic b-roll shots with the active tracking, otherwise I think the iPhone is perfect for Vlogging. Or at least start with the iPhone and get your content up and add gear as you go.

Hi Katie! I shot in auto and just adjusted the ev as needed and then applied a lut. I tried dlog m for a couple clips just to test and my color grading is too basic to see the potential for it. Maybe one day I’ll stop being lazy and learn to color grade on FCP 🤣

Hi there, I shot in normal color and applied a lut in post (very minimal, like 10% of the lut). I haven't dived into color grading and shot a couple clips in D Log to try editing and gave up lol.

No kidding, never ending cycle of improvements. This is the first time I’ve tried out their osmo pocket line so I’m glad I waited (which is hard for a tech junky like me to do lol). And yes, they are vitsoe shelves, one of my favorite piece in the house!

Hey there! It’s just a visual choice, similar to portrait photos when the subject is isolated from the background. It’s a way to put more emphasis on the person. But totally nothing wrong with having everything in focus!

Hey there. I shot in auto, 4k, 30fps and found I needed to lower the exposure comp during the day as I found it a bit over exposed for my liking. In low light it exposes perfectly.

Hi there. I know there's a case that allows you to attach it to any GoPro style mount so that would be a great option for a bike. It also works great with selfie sticks that have legs for quick and easy (hands free) eye level footage.

Hi, thanks! It doesn't come with an SD card but I believe they have options to bundle. Battery lasts really long actually. Very impressed with battery life!

Hey question in the kitchen shot what settings were you using by the way? Log? Iso?
I was just shooting in auto everything, including iso. I tried a couple clip in d-log m and while the raw footage looks super clean, my color grading is pretty basic so I wasn't able to get it to look great.

Hey! Must have missed this comment. So as far as I know, the mic2 won't work with the iPhone native app unfortunately but can work with 3rd party camera apps. I think I remember someone mentioning it will work with Black Magic Camera via bluetooth connection.

Im not Vlogger thought its a good idea to buy but more intersting on both Vid & Stills photography

Appreciate the feedback! Yea, I wouldn’t recommend this if stills is your priority. I’d probably look at a dedicated camera especially if zoom is important. Even a mobile phone would be a better option. This really is a video first device with the gimbal and active tracking being the highlights in my opinion.

How did you mount the pocket 3 in car
I mounted my insta 360 go3 reusable sticky mount to the bottom of the pocket 3 🤣. I have a small cup holder in that area of my van where the bottom is flat so it worked out.
Do you prefer the Pocket 3 or ZV1 m2? Do you still have the zv1m2? Ha
Hey Scott! I actually returned the ZV1 m2 for two reasons, wasn't wide enough for me though the zoom was great and didn't like the battery life. So I prefer the pocket 3, esp as a b-cam.

Nope, was just shooting auto in standard. And a tiny bit of color grading in FCP.

My con is that you can't do 4k 120 fps in dlog 10 bit.
True, I've seen a few creators talk about that but as a novice filmmaker (and I use filmmaker very very loosely for myself lol), I'm not advanced enough to dive into color grading at the moment. Hoping to dive into that world soon though! I filmed some clips in DLOG M and had no idea how to grade lol.

Are you shooting in dlog or normal color mode?
Shooting in normal mode with a low opacity LUT (like 20%)
Do you have a link to the lut by chance?
For me the biggest problem is that the DJI Pocket 3 doesn't offer the bokeh effect. I think is because they will launch this in a future but now preferred to focus in other features.
At 20mm and with a 1" sensor at f/2, it won't give a ton of separation but if you get close enough, you can get some decent separation and nice out of focus areas.
