I want everyone to know that Jim is 46 years old, 45 when this was filmed, because it's scares the shit out of me. He's like Paul Rudd. Dude doesn't age. I'm 23 and I look older than him.
Well i might argue that not working and being rich definitely helps with keeping your health and looking younger for longer. But that's just my opinion.
Yeah Paul Rudd,Will Smith,Jim Parson these dude never age
krinkov545 excuse me?
normie x not working?
@@rochester212 he's literally talking about his work lmao
"How many straight Rom-Com's do we need? When is it 'too late' for them?" Jim, I love you
I love Jim Parsons and would watch him in a gay rom-com in a heartbeat!
I would LOVE to see him in a gay rom-com!!!
Watch The Boys in the Band. It's not a Rom-Com, but it's gay as hell, and he's absolutely phenomenal in it. It's on Netflix.
@@emmab5424 and he’s got Matt Bomer. Perfect movie
@@emmab5424 his acting in it was SOOOOOO GOOOD
"I've never talked this fast in my life." I watch Big Bang Theory. You've talked much faster.
That was a sinfully short segment. Jim Parsons is a national treasure. I could listen to him for hours. Great entertainer. Great human being.
Alexander Macias you put too many o's. It's just cringy.

@krinkov545 you will be first inthe line
I love how his mind gets ahead of him and he forgets what the question was. He is so eloquent and smart. I wish this interview lasted for hours!
Jim Parsons if one of the very few celebrities I'd like to meet and have a drink with... because I think he'd be friendly and fun to talk with.

*Knock, knock, knock* "BARKEEP!" *Knock, knock, knock* "BARKEEP!" *Knock, knock, knock* "BARKEEP!!" :-P
Isn’t it crazy how far we have come as a culture in 30 years? I mean Ellen DeGeneres was fired for being gay and today we get to see all of these married gays and it brings so much joy to my heart; humans can love and grow, let’s always remember that and always support our LGBTQIA+ community. Everyone deserves love and a family. ❤️❤️❤️ 🌈
krinkov545 hey how about you don’t click on a video that clearly brings up lgbtqia+ issues just to spread your hatefulness. Christianity is supposed to be about loving all. clearly you’re not a Christian. Just because someone doesn’t share your beliefs doesn’t mean they’re “screwed up in the head”. If you believe that then you’re the delusional one. How about keep your opinions to yourself. This person was just being kind and empathetic, and you’re just being a jerk, throwing out random bible verses that aren’t even relevant. If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
@Neil Brown ok Neil
Sandy Faith AMEN
@@sandyfaith9779 You can't cherry-pick the Bible. The Bible is also about accountability and helping others to see the truth. If you truly love someone and care about them as a human being, than we don't ignore their dangerous behavior. We help them by pointing out the terrible decisions they're making, for their best interest. Loving everyone is of utmost importance, but we don't do it by letting them destroy themselves. Accountability is love. Love isn't being willfully ignorant and pretending that sin isn't happening.
This culture?
He's great and I feel like he has more to give talentwise than just being known as Sheldon.
Yeah, its a shame that we don't get to see him in other big roles.
But that happens a lot with actors on big hit shows like Friends, Sex and the City, Seinfeld etc...
People can only see you as that role.
I feel like he is already diversifying his roles.
Otto, exactly! Couldn't have said it better myself!
Michelle Foucault To our family he's Oh from "the Boov movie" (Home). 😝
Sedalia, Mo. didn't get Love, Simon in our theater but we did get God's Not Dead 3. So yes there are parts of the United States where Love, Simon and Boys in the Band are not only not 'too late' but are considered 'too soon'.
Same where I live. Yes, gay representation is still desperately needed in much of the United States, especially rural U.S. And certainly in many parts of the world.
Joshua King Also in some other countries. We didnt get to see Love Simon in theaters at all. Like its ok to show high rating horror, ranchy comedies with hetero characters or whatnot. but cute gay romcom is too much apparently, ugh. So, yes, "we don't need those anymore" not just rude but plain ridiculous.
In school, my friend was bullied for the entire last week for suggesting that our local theatres should show, 'Love, Simon'. (We live in India.)
I live in Kuwait so I’ve only ever seen LGBTQ+ media in private
True 💯💯👏🏽👏🏽
As a straight male I could definitely stand to see more gay rom-coms. I don't even know of any... but hetero rom-coms? Definitely sick to death of them and I do appreciate some of them. When Harry met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, There's something about Mary etc.
ozayevable Oh, how clever and edgy you are. You know, it's about more than ticking political correctness boxes or something like that, I feel like what Jim Parsons and Kilowatt meant is that it's utterly boring and uninspiring to keep seeing just different versions of maybe 4 basic types of romantic comedies, just repeated to death without any innovation. All of these films are essentially the same, just played by different sets of unrealistically attractive actors pretending to be average and relatable. Give me some actual art, something clever and with substance, or at least different than all the copies of the same... Just because it's a feel-good rom-com doesn't mean it has to be completely predictable and vapid...
KiIowatt
If you're interested, When Night Is Falling and Show Me Love (a Swedish film) are great films to watch. Although not technically rom coms, they're both very funny and romantic.
KiIowatt try Latter Days and Trick.
qwertyCandy Well said! Thank you. Completely agree.
KiIowatt the proposal is a great rom com 😂 so funny
Jim should be peace advocate for the UN... his personality is as clean as a baby... so lovely

You watch tbbt!?
@@mancitykshah2737 ,😮. And you have a problem with that?
I love the way Jim Parsons thinks and interacts with people and describes things, he's just amazing
I low key have a slight man crush on Jim Parsons.
The German expressionist joke was so underated.
I don't even think it was a joke, which makes it even funnier ;-) I haf the same sensation when I saw the first hint of the cover: interesting modern theater instead of the classical "predicatable" (visually, textually and contextually) theater. Love to be surprised and overwhelmed by great art. Stephen Colbert simply is a huge nerd. Which is great!
I love that he brought up Love, Simon!
Parsons is so charming, funny, and up for whatever may occur during an interview. He comes across as a great guy, and I hope that he finds some roles really deserving of his nature in the future that outshine The Big Bang Theory. I mean, other than his ass kicking performance in the Muppet Movie from 2012 :)
Jim Parsons is correct. The title is from a line in A Star is Born when James Mason tells a distraught Judy Garland, 'You're singing for yourself and the boys in the band.'"
I love seeing Jim Parsons in interviews. He IS so entertaining.
“How can i keep these questions straight” you can’t
I absolutely adore hearing him talk about his experience on stage, and the genuine smile on Stephen's face saying it makes sense. That's why I think Colbert is the best late night host, he really engages with the guest, and shows that he's listening and that he cares.
Honestly, this guy is 50% of BBT's success. I don't think the show would've carried on if it hadn't been for him.
Yes
Y'all are great together. I LOVE the NY Catholic & the Gay Texan being happy together. Its a hopeful sight to me.

Hello as a gay Texan
I love how he gets off on tangents that and has to circle back to the questions
I love Jim he's just so sweet and kind! And this gives me hope because I'm writing a gay romance novel set in 1660s England & I'm worried that it's taking me so long. Thank you for that, Jim 😃❤
"Bleeep hits the fan...." Is the word "shit" seriously something that need to be bleeped on US TV?!?
Jon, I don't know where you hail from, but up until the early 1970s, you couldn't even say "hell" or "damn" on American television. I don't get it, either - I heard all kinds of "bad language" in my own home, as a kid, so I don't know what the censors thought they were "protecting" us from.
Jon Digene
It has to do with Standards, not everyday life. Something that's gone out the window since Trump entered on the scene.
@Shallex
Only a 4 year old would say something that stupid. Trump is a disaster. Apparently you don't have an issue with pathological lying or criminal behavior.
Of the 12 presidents I've seen in my lifetime, Trump is a miserable failure in office, a despicable libertine and the most inarticulate cretin to ever hold public office.

Jim Parsons is an American Treasure
I want to take the time and comment and what a great interview this is and how well Steven can make a guest feel at home. Really great job and keep it up.
Please, have Jim as soon as possible again! He is the BEST in everything!
Great interview, as always .Thanks Jim, for being you.
Love his passion and his no-nonsense straight talking!
Definitely not to late for a coming out movie. I know people who still can’t come out to this day because of their family and community’s attitude.
Love, Simon was definitely not too late it wasn't even available by me I had to drive 2 hours just to see it.
It is a must see.... especially for teens who fear rejection from family or friends, in cities and in rural areas. The culture of the home does not necessarily reflect the beliefs of the surrounding community.
I love Jim Parsons, what a nice, likeable person! He's great and I love Big Bang Theory! He never ages!
The sagging double chin and wrinkles would disagree.
The dude's 45 but looks like he's 25!
karen taylor Yes, he is a total Class Act... and a pure delight.
Faith Rada: the ellipsis made me read your comment in a sarcastic tone. Not sure if that was intended
M McDonald - ooh...meee-oww!
when you're around like minded people, communication and language changes simply because there's a large amount of language whose only use is to defend.
Good point. That really made me go 'hmmm...'.
Lets Go Flying can you elaborate, this is deep
I didn't think I was saying anything profound. I guess it just relates to the idea that we are all expected to have a couple faces. Who we are, and who we're expected to be. Those worlds collide when you're with people who are faking all the same things as you (we're all faking it) and the need to fake it is slowly replaced by the comfort of knowing there's no need?
I just woke up. Sorry.
Lets Go Flying Exactly what I said,..."Hmmm"
A really enjoyable interview, jim is hilarious
as a queer person i found his annoyance when talking about it being 'too late for coming out stories' so painfully relatable
Too late for _Love Simon?_ Seriously? Does there come a time when it's "too late" for an interracial romance movie set in the pre-Civil War south or in the south during Segregation? What if someone wants to make a movie about women's lib? Does there come a time when _that's_ too late?
"Look at the _Roots_ miniseries. Look at all the cruel ways slaves were mistreated in this country."
"Well, perhaps, but this message is too late."
lazyperfectionist1 Well put. It's never too late to tell stories about any particular human experience.
lazyperfectionist1 Actually, the answer is not a given to me. It's a fair question. However, gay sexuality is about sexual activity and to some extent sexual culture, such as codes, party arrangements and exclusive trends.
Some insist that it's universally fluid, something people can choose with self-determination, while others still claim its genetic or hormonal - that you don't choose.
For millions sexual behavior is in the milieu of morality, like adultery, stealing, incest, lying, etc. The movement seeks to divorce sexuality from from faith-based learning, to pluck it singly from the narrative as though it shouldn't not be there.
They noticeably don't object to the other 'sins' listed, perhaps because those don't disagree with their own code of conduct. So, why should any interloper get to tell believers to omit a doctrine from the scriptures as it inconveniences as prejudices people against them?
The same question can be made regarding incest, adultery, lying and others, but who challenges those? What gives LGBTs the right to undermine the church? It isn't secular, but sacred and separate from the mainstream, which protects the public and the church as well.
In this case, separatism serves a vital purpose - freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Inside of a church you can discuss it from a moral perspective without condemnation.
Apt215 Melissa Brown So basically, you're saying people outside of a church shouldn't be able to criticize that church's stance on sexuality? Or..?
Apt215 Melissa Brown
The bible condones rape, pederasty, slavery and genocide. The moral values of Bronze Age warlords have no place in today's society. Allow me to give you some talking points for your next church meeting:

Good day.
I have been running an LGBT youth group since the mid 90's and the kids today who saw Love, Simon were so happy and showed a big boost in their self-esteem and an improved outlook on their future.
This shows what pleasure it can be to see two intelligent people have a mentally stimulating conversation. So glad I didn't miss this interview. I wish it was longer though.
Love Simon was a HUGE progress on my country. (Honduras) here most people are homophobic, no matter how you talk to they know how bad gay people are treated. but seen this movie on a actually theater! And on premiere, made me so FUCKING HAPPY and made me think that perhaps we are changing for better. I NEVER expected to see this movie on theaters on here. Seeing it here is just stunning.
9:15 I realized that I *hadn't* been watching the video at 1.5x or 2x the normal speed. 😹
I don't watch TBBT, but I really like Jim Parsons, all of the interviews he does are great.
I bet it was quality c"affe"ine..
Jim Parsons seems to just discovers himself and gets to know himself better on every new interview. And for me, I ended up watching 8 seasons now after just watching some TBBT youtube videos two months back.
wish they had been on longer !! great fun interview
Wonderful interview!
I love Jim Parsons... It's impossible NOT to love him!
No offense to Tom Hanks but my husband & I for years thought that Jim would be the perfect person to play Mr Rogers.
yes yes yes
Coleen Parsons I'm so glad you agree!
Jill Niemczynski fuck no.
Jill Niemczynski agreed
agh, yes! I also have been thinking that for years, and I just commented the same thing lol
I love how Stephens just so amused by Parsons. Not in a judgmental way at all. It just seems like he enjoys having Parsons on the show and I love that. It's just so cool to see a host being genuinely happy about a guest.
This interview was so energetic and good that I just watched it 3 times lol ... I just realized it
Jim is so adorable ❤️ i love how real and genuine he is
Wonderful funny interview

The man is just awesome. As a straight man, I'm not afraid to say I love the man. I guess that would be my closet moment. ;)
Totally agree. I loved it when he got passionate about rom-coms.
Warwick Donnelly
I loved watching Stephen enjoy him talking rapid fire about not caring about sports.
Bumder
Man, this felt too short. I think these guys could have bantered and told stories for an hour easy. Two naturally funny guys like this together is such a treat to watch.
Fun interview. And always hilarious as Sheldon! I once saw a terrific production of Boys In the Band years ago with Christopher Sieber (he played the dad of the Olsen twins on Two of a Kind), and I'm sure Jim Parson's production is probably just as great as that one was.
Jim Parsons could totally be a late night host. Up there with Conan, Letterman and Stephen.
I'd watch that! Not just because of our last names, either.
Omg that would be awesome!!
i love him sm but i feel like he'd be a bit too awkward for yhat
Hell yeah. A dude who deserves his millions is also good on interviews? Aight
He is worth north of 70 Million.... where do you get your info??
Adam Bomb the guy earned 27.5 mil in 2017
Adam Bomb he gets paid a million dollars for one episode of big bang theory. Literally every time they record an episode he gets a million, look it up.
+Adam Bomb ~ "Deserve" may be the wrong word, but actors, entertainers, and athletes earn so much because they generate many times that for the organizations that utilize their services. And yes, in that sense, they "deserve" their earnings, it's the deal they made, and not free lunch.
Adam Bomb one million per episode. Over 100 episodes. He must be worth 200k at the most...
jim parsons is adorable and honestly the sweetest person in the world
"They're fine! They're LOVELY!"

@@albertoj.tomates2553 that's your opinion. You don't have to tell someone who likes Big Bang Theory that it's shit because that's just your opinion. I'm myself from India and it's huge here
@@albertoj.tomates2553 its not a reality show dumbass
Always a fun interview when Jim is around.
Colbert gets Jim to open up and truely express himself ....good stuff!!
I've watched Love, Simon with my (now) wife two weeks after coming out to my family, moving away, and getting disowned for it. It was not too late for a movie like that. Though my coming out story didn't have the same kind of happy ending, that movie gave me hope that a happy ending was still possible. My family may come around eventually but I'm not holding my breath. In my experience, we're still far away from tolerance let alone acceptance for gay people.
Love this guy! So smart, sensitive and sweet. Loved him in The Normal Heart: "Ahm a Southern bi-utch!" He's a little eccentric too - reminds me of a young Jeff Goldblum. Also loving the new Big Bang Theory spin-off show, Young Sheldon. Brilliant stuff! A Wonder Years for the digital age.
A genuinly nice human being.
He is eloquent and he is a convincing speaker, and he is absolutely right. All the false equivalence bullshit peddled by the insecure and narrow minded patriarchy must be so frustrating I completely get his outrage which was still smart as a whip, funny and engaging to watch. Not many people can pull that off and you see Stephen bathing in that enlightened yet still lighthearted fury.
Too short a segment and Jim Parsons could fill an hour of great television and still I would feel having come up short. Love to listen to his brain at work, his heart at work and how they collide in his sentences.
Jim Parsons is so cute... I love him. His interviews are funny as well as enlightening.
Jim Parsons is always a delightful interview
Just love him. He is so authentic, speaks his mind. Amazing
Delightful and insightful.
Want to see a great 'gay' movie...Robin Williams in Birdcage....now THATS a Great funny, romcom movie. And I'm straight.

Where did you find it?
Hi Straight, I'm dad!
It’s such a joy listening to Jim, I could do that for hours. And I absolutely agree with Jim on the Love Simon movie: it’s never too late to tell stories like this and Boys in the band. As long as straight people can share their love stories and talk about their issues, gays deserve equal rights doing the same!! Love is love ❤️ 🌈

most important statement made this month ❤️
This guy is probably immune to hatred.
He's like the sweetest thing ever

So happy the world has changed. I watched my cousin live a life where he could never show the truly amazing person he was. Although his family knew he was gay and we loved his magnetic and humorous personality the truth we all knew was still never discussed. How I wish he were still with us so he could have had a happy life and openly had someone to love. Something he deserved as much as anyone. I think part of the reason I enjoy seeing Jim Parsons is because he reminds me of my cousin. a man I cared for very much,
this is an excellent clip
Lovely man!
'Love Simon' is a wonderful film.
I saw the original play in 1969.
It shocked the hell out of me and opened my eyes to a taboo subject at the time.
I loved the play. The witty, sharp sometimes cutting one liners were unforgettable to this day.
Jim is always wonderful guest.
it is never too late for movies like Love, Simon. if anything there needs to be more films like Love, Simon because that way for people who cannot relate to straight romantic comedies
Yes, Jim, bring on the gay rom coms! I love you... ♥
SEARCH for 'This Must Be The Place' by the Talking Heads.......a song from the film 'Stop Making Sense'. I recently saw it for the first time, and it reminded me so much of Sheldon.
Can I see this “The Boys In The Band” now? Did it or will it ever go on tour? Because I would really love to see it.
Nice socks, Jim :D
I loved this! Its great how Jim speaks his mind!

Two such lovely & smart guys
For a certain type of gay representation, he means. Something that ticks all the usual cliched, self-imposed boxes, ignoring that we gays are as diverse and different as the straights.
so you have seen this play ?
goodwiccanwitch So do you have any constructive criticism?
since vera coda was criticising they play I assume he has seen it otherwise it's rather an unconstructive critic from him. also, Jim parsons point is many gay people can identify with the play. but I dont think all the gay people can be represented in one play.
