  • Hello guys, in this video I show the steps I did to modify the 3000GT rear garnish that comes color matched to the car, in order to make it red like the tail lights.

I saw this video last night went out with a razor blade see if mine had red plastic underneath I have a 1993 3000GT SL and it was painted green so I decided it was time for me to man up got the palm sander out only took 2 hours plus time to spray paint so ended up looking like the VR 4 . So much easier without the raised letters😂 thanks for letting me know brother that things like this exist I've been looking at replacements for a long time now it's perfect 👍

Great idea! tip for the future, or others, the 3000gt script, comes off, they are just decals, you can even get new if you like, then just sand and buff the flat surface.

Came out looking great and I do agree, the red translucent plastic looks so much better.
I'm confused as to why you didn't use s mild paint stripper, would have been much easier and faster without damaging the plastic

I used lacquer thinner but it didn’t take it off, i didn’t want to use something harsh like paint stripper because sometimes it warps the plastic, I didn’t want to run the risk

@@JohnnyGT I see, here in Denmark we have a product called nitro-mors.
It's normally used for removing paint on wood and plastics, that why I'm not too concerned about that product

I had never heard of that product, I wonder if it’s available in the states

Do you have any videos on how to re spray the side mirrors? Mine are scratched, and the paint is coming off showing white spots here and there. How would I go about re painting those?

It’s really no different from how you would repaint any other part of the car. Sand them down, then spray primer, then paint, then clear coat
