  • In this video, I’m using an easy prompt and creating vibrant mixed-media abstract art inspired from a mess. This mixed media painting demo is more than just splashing paint on a canvas; it's about finding beauty in the unexpected and transforming the mundane into something extraordinary.

The challenge was simple yet thought-provoking: abstract something typically seen as a mess and turn it into a stunning piece of art. My muse? A cluster of trash caught in the nook of a building, whipped up by the wind. It might sound odd, but this sight sparked a burst of creativity in me. You could take a similar approach, using anything from a pile of unwashed clothes, a sink full of dirty dishes, a muddy puddle, or even the mental clutter in your head. It's all about perspective and interpretation.
This painting demo isn't just an abstract art; it's about creating a beautiful mess. I used a mix of materials, including recycled cardboard, acrylic paint skins, and old paper towels from previous painting sessions. This approach not only adds a unique texture to the piece but also integrates materials from past painting sessions into the collage artwork.
For me, mixed media painting is all about experimentation and play. I included various textures, colors, and compositions, injecting a sense of energy and life into the canvas. It was like using the energy of chaos into something visually appealing, a beautiful mess that captures the eye and the imagination.
Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner, this video is a fantastic opportunity to explore the realms of colorful painting and abstract expression. And remember, you don't need to stick to mixed media art; the same concept can be brilliantly executed with just acrylic paints. So, grab your brushes (or whatever tools you fancy), and create some chaotic yet captivating abstract art!
    And remember, keep on painting!

Hi Chris, I don't know why but I cracked up when you said mental clutter in your head. I guess I'm guilty. My room mate laughs at what I bring home I'm a garbage picker. Since doing art so many things jump out at me. Thx so much for your art you keep me going. Even what I don't like I enjoy myself and I say hooray to that.

Ďakujem vám, že ste nám ukázali ukážkovú koláž. Máte talent spåjať rôzne tvary a farby. Takto je výsledok kultivovaný, príjemný a harmonický. 😊

Great idea. I keep some of my used paper towels because the colors are prettier than my paintings many times. This image makes me think of a map…the land overflowing with garbage and the sea being relatively clean.

I love the idea of decluttering both by using up scraps ( I have sooo much) and decluttering mentally as I create. I also love how this turned out. 🙂

  • @emmanuelpower2439

It was relaxing to watch the process and maybe I will be redirected to some of the stuff i keep lying around, but i know i am not a manic upcycler on canvas... yet. The composition seems to work, and i was just imagining aerial views of a coastline. Thank you, Chris.😊
