Right after watching this I just happened to run across Wanderback at Total Wine in Seattle. Not only that, it was on SALE for $48 - score! At first I wasn't sure about it, seemed kind of woody, but really opened up in the glass and it's like drinking rich, fruity, iced coffee. I could just nose this stuff all day. Anybody who likes Westland should definitely seek out Wanderback. May need to go back and nab a second bottle. Thanks for the tip!
OMG, love your Stranahans pick. I recently had the regular expression which I quite liked. The following week I stumbled upon a single barrel cask strength for 42 bones! I quickly bought it before they figured out the price. And it’s absolutely delicious!!! Cheers to you both!

Great video. The future of American single malts is exciting. I agree with another earlier commenter who noted Virginia Dustilling Co/Courage and Conviction as a great one to try. Their cask strength Cuvee finish is one if my favorite whiskies. Another interesting distillery outbhere in VA is Copper Fox. They have a single malt smoked with applewood and cherrywood that is pretty tasty. Guess you're gonna have to make that east coast trip!

Currently the San Andrés wrapper is my go to. Nice bold espresso, chocolate, black pepper taste…. Oops wrong channel. A great lineup of ASM all those companies put out hit after hit. I hear Wanderbacks next lineup is coming from Virginia Distillery. That’ll be exciting.
You should try Old Line single malt, specifically the cast strength, from Maryland. I believe it won Fred Minnick's best American single malt last year.
Nice ! May I suggest something from Boulder spirits in Colorado..they make awesome whisky..bourbon and American single malts..both peated and unpeated...so good ! and its all over Alberta, Canada !
In some ways, they're very much like Scotch. The flavors vary widely from location to location, and they don't generally need to be high proof to be extremely flavorful and satisfying. On the other hand, very few of them are peated or smoked, and even fewer of them are aged for a great deal of time. It truly is a new expression that deserves a pour or two at a bar to discover. Cheers!
I find it hard to pay more than $100 for American Single Malts, when there are some many Scotch Single Malts for well under $100. $60 is a better price point for me.
Keep in mind several of the bottles mentioned are single barrels or special releases from craft distilleries. Core expressions can be had for much less. Standard Westland (excellent) and Stranahan's usually go for around $50, Total Wine has Wanderback for $68 (worth it!) and Westward for $75.
I guessed three. I'll take it. Have you tried Balcones Mirador yet? I haven't had good luck with Balcones's Texas funk, but someone suggested I might like that one.

My current favorite single malt is Westward cask strength. Yummy

I'm in NC but was able to order a 6 year McCarty's store pick based off this video... And I'm not disappointed! It's wonderful.

Here in NC , Rua single malt is a really nice sweet/fruity/malty single malt. I rank it right up there with many Scottish SMs I have had.
Clermont Steep is my fav 😋🥃

100% agree on this. Great distillery and second the recommendation. Enjoyed everything I've had from them.

We've only ever tried a cask strength sample and we loved it. We can't wait to get to explore a lot more of what they have to offer!

Haven't seen/tried Mirador yet, but the base 108 proof Single Malt is delicious. The funk suits it.
The Balcones Cask Strength we have is over 130 proof and we only sip it with a big ice cube in it. Even with the cube, it's a flavor bomb!
