- After researching trimmers for a while and deciding on the Echo SRM 225, I figured I would make a few quick videos to share my thoughts with you in case you are in the same place I was trying to decide. I hope you enjoy!
I also made an unboxing and first look video....if you haven't seen that click here to jump over there:

It's been two years and I still love it! Watch my two year review here: czcams.com/video/hprZm_MiebI/video.html
Bro half choke it and it will start first time 👍
How about now bro?
Halloilike.ekkomoar.ihave.moar.andhegitorrimar.
Alex Jones reviewing string trimmers now?
😂
😅😅damn sure looks like him, doesn't he..a sane version of Alex Jones..
😂😂😂😂
That's just cruel lol
4 seconds in and I thought the same thing
I have one of these and I use for my lawn care business and I service around 15-20 residential properties a day and it’s is 4 years old and faded from the sun but still runs and operates like new. And, no valves to adjust like Stihl
I bought this and just found your video--it's great. I love mine. Thank you!
Thanks Doug for the great reviews of the Echo SRM 225. I'm probably going to buy one tomorrow.
Thanks! Enjoy your new trimmer!
My husband just spent several hundred dollars on one of these Echo's today. I had to see what they were all about. Thanks.
It was $200 not several hundred lol but even if he did why would you go look on you tube .. are you gonna use it ?? Would you wanna use junk ??
@@chriswebb383 we spent $300 nearly a year ago but maybe it was junk because I don't see it anywhere! 🤣
@@cindysmith9507 lol
It's actually pretty cheap $ 219.00 at home depot
Leave that man alone 😂😂
Just got one today. Thank you for this. Gonna start it up now.
I’m buying one right now. Thanks for the video.
I love this guy he’s pretty honest
Thanks again! Still coming back as a refresher 😁
I got one like that 3 years ago now it still good ,just one choke it run ,that is bester for any yards.
Definitely going to invest this as my main trimmer. I currently have a battery trimmer but it gets hot after doing four properties.
Have one for 7 years, no problems.
Just bought one today. Thanks for the video.
3/21/21 and just got mine today. Put mix in and started it right up and went to work. Love it and pretty badass for $215.00 from home depot 💪🏽💪🏽
Sweet! I can’t wait for Maine to wake up so I can get out and start using mine again!
I bought this exact trimmer last month...BEST TRIMMER I'VE EVER USED....
I've used Stihl,Troybilt,Husqvarna and several cheap brands.
It's balanced real well...and the auto load trim line head is the best thing ever created on a trimmer...I cut string about 6ft and slide it thru and twist the head until it is loaded up...ITS THAT SIMPLE...I LOVE THIS weed trimmer.
Plus a 5 year warranty..cant beat that!!!!!!
Agreed! Just had to reload my line the other day and was once again impressed with how easy it was!
I always break in new 2 stroke equipment. When I got mine brand new, the gear head was a little tight at first, but as you slowly trim with it, it will break in. Same with the motor, the rings need to break in
I've had an Echo 225 trimmer for (10) years , always starts, never had it in for service !
Great trimmer ! ... Just Buy It !
The BEST starters are ECHO equipment, and HONDA engines, the rest can be temperamental at times !
100% agreed! I have owned my Echo 225 for 8 years and it is still running strong!
Did you ever change Spark plug?
@@luisponce1472 Changed it once ... it's on it's 2nd. plug.
Thank you for the great video! Very informative and I feel I can use it with confidence!
This is a good review, showing what it does in thicker grass. Thanks
It still works great, even in thicker grass. Great trimmer!
After countless carburetor problems with higher end trimmers I have found that Echo trimmers from Home Depot are a better value for my lawn care company. Since making the switch, I haven't had to deal with the many issues the other brands were giving us.
What brands were you using? I’m just curious cause I’m going trimmer shopping tomorrow.
@@whatfreedom7 go echo, bro
Zach McD I ended up trying Husqvarna do to accessories not fitting the echo but it gets a rpm drop when I snap the throttle like it’s not tuned right. I’m tempted to take it back and going with the echo.
Yes especially with the homelite!! Please stay away
Nice trimmer. (I own the curved shaft version, and it's reach limited. Straight shaft's best: learned the hard way). Thank you for making & posting this video. You should think about wearing a dust mask when trimming such amounts of grass & weeds (pollen & dust: no no for the lungs).
I got 2 with most attachments. They are great and worth every dollar
I got mine today and I can't wait to use it
How was it? Got mine 3 years ago and still holding up like a champ!
@@nathanelliott6770 it still fires up and runs like new
@@Datsun7705 same here
this was very helpful, i need something like this, i have some head height weeds i need to cut and my Hyper Tech 25cc weed eater isnt doing the job!
That seals the deal. I'm want one of those!!!!
My property has weeds like in your video and I bought the ECHO SRM-225 at the end of summer, its way better than the Troy Bilt I was using. I still have the MTD because of the brush cutter attachment, the only reason to keep a POS trimmer.
What would be your choice of edger, echo or ...i like it to be light weight and easy to use.
I appreciate your input
After watching this, I think it's safe to say that I will be upgrading to this over Stihl, plus I can still use my Husqvarna 128LD for an edger I have been using as a weed eater for the last 7 years. I currently use Stihl with my second job and they're just not as lightweight like I want.
One of the companies I own is a lawn service. We do commercial and residential. We have 6 golf courses etc. Echo is the best bang for your buck by far!
So just when from sthl 131 to the echo just as powerful and wayyy lighter love it
Where is the choke and the turn dial supposed to be set during use? Mine is cutting out and I am wondering if I have the settings wrong.
I bought one a few weeks ago off of Craigslist in like new condition for $100. and it's the best trimmer I've owned.Gotta use better than Echo trimmer line though. I use Copper Head trimmer line and it last longer and stays level when turning full RPM's.
This made my purchase well worth it thank you
i just got one of these from mowers direct and the head isnt spinning, it starts and run but no head spin..... anyone have a clue?
Do you have to cold start the trimmer every time you use it? (Every 2 weeks)
What is a good commercial exho edgers. What numbers does it start
I have one and the first time I used it about 3 weeks ago it started right up got it out today and it won’t start I’ve tried just about everything except new plug.
Cześć 🙂🖐 czy ten trymer poradzi sobie z jeszcze większą i grubsza trawa? Pozdrawiam
This helped a lot thank you brother 🙌💯
Are those supposed to have bump heads to advance the line?
thanks dude!! really help me!! :) muchas gracias amigo! me sirvio mucho, saludos desde Mexico, you're cool
What size trimmer? How's the string, does it go through the string easy?
Nice review.. Thanks!
We also have another one that is somehow lasting a little bit longer, but we haven’t really used it much
Great video really helped me out
Found one on the side of the road, hopefully I'll get it going gonna try and clean the carb up maybe that'll do the trick, handle is missing only $20 on Amazon
If you start it when its cold and move the choke lever back-and-forth a few times while holding at full throttle it will reach operating temperatures much faster...I do it every time I use any 2 cycle equipment, it works every time..
Thanks for the tip! I tried that today as it was the first time starting the trimmer up this year. Worked well!
Is that good for the engine going full throttle on a cold start? Seems better to let it warm up a bit at lower RPMs
Would help if you show what you do with your left hand when pulling the cord.
Quick tip. Always Always Always use hi test gas with the highest octane mix in your lawn care equipment. Mix with the oil and you will never have any starting issues.
Thanks for the tip!
Is that the speed feed 400 on it
Mine does not start anymore. Used it a month. Brand new. What gives?
I think you just save me some money. I was going to get the PAS 2620 with a 25cc engine as I thought the SRM225 with the 21cc Would be under powered. But it looks just. Has there ever been a situation where you wish you had a larger engine? Thank you for your time.
Thanks homie!👍🏾✌🏾
I think it’s cute when dads wear their kids shirts.
Lmfao, backhanded compliment level 99.
Lol
Baby gap
Don't you wish you were as full figured tho
Thanks for sharing great video
You can mix the echo oil and the gas together.
Thanks
Great Video
What direction does the head spin if you are looking down the shaft? I have looked for over a month at this and the Stihl FS 56 Rc-e. Got the Stihl today and it’s counter clockwise. 15+ years of clockwise spinning trimmers so counter clock wise is really messing me up. Caught a rock in the lip today.
in order to spin clockwise you'll have to get a curve shaft trimmer .
Echo SRM-225 Straight Shaft Trimmer?
cant get mine to start. first use.
So I don’t just put gasoline in it?
When you start the trimmer, do you have down the gas / trigger ?
Good Bones I usually hold it down...might not have to, but that’s what I’m in the habit of doing.
I woulda let it get warm then let it completely cool till cold so rings can seat a little better...before goin full into it.
SWEET review 💙🙂👍🏽
Great video new sub
Probably a dumb question but I'm a newbie! Just bought this trimmer and on the first trim the string broke on me. How do you get more to feed? My previous one automatically fed out and it doesn't seem like this one has that feature?
All you need to do is with the trimmer on, give the trimmer some throttle and bump the trimmer head on the ground. It has a spring loaded mechanism that will feed out more string! 😎
@@LowkeyLawnCare Thank you!!
I've been using Stihl for 5 years. I recently bought a 94r which is lightweight and has just enough power for everyday trimming. I'm considering this trimmer but can't find any specs on the horsepower rating. Do you know what it is? If not, what do you think of the power? It may seem insignificant, but 2 or 3 tenths of a horsepower rating makes a big difference with small engines. Also, solid drive shaft or flex?
Its 21.2cc its super light weight. Not 94r powerful. If you want 94r powerful get the 25.4cc comercial echo. Its a little over 300
just bought one
If you buy one online do you have to put oil in it
You always need to use a 50:1 oil and gas mix. There’s no separate oil. 🙂
I have echo trimmers at my landscaping job
Is this strong enough to cut monkey grass? Thats all I’ll need it for.
Gracias compadre:,
Can I turn my echo weed eater into a straight shaft rather the curved shaft .
No
Literally just bought tbis put in fhe 50:1 gas, primed it pump button, put it on cold start, moved rhte switch to the on position, and pulled it 5 to 6 times and....IT WON'T START 😡
Why waste your money on a stihl when you could get the echo srm 225
Heard nothing but bad things about Echo at work, but we use Stihl. The first time I started this echo I realized my work buddies didnt know what they're talking about lol
pshh nah you’re gonna meet some naysayers, but I made the switch and am standing strong 💪
I've had this for almost 2 years now and it still works like a charm!
It’s the exact same thing lol Stihl/echo
@@pshhnah4199 then you hear bad things about Stihl, no way around bad apples regardless of brand.
The levers on the handle , no instructions on what to do on start up
Lol "actually theres a little dry grass" Nice
Whats your go to brand on mixes?
I'm learning how to use this weed eater. How do I get the string out?
Here’s a video I made that explains!
czcams.com/video/rdGMQ0Fdna4/video.html
Bump the head on the grass while it's running, and it'll release the spool ratchet mechanism one notch, and feed out a small length. You'll hear the sound change from the longer length.
Don't bump it too many times or it'll just waste string, because the guard cuts off any excess.
Just got one. Was suggested to go with canned fuel. Thoughts?
My brother uses canned and I've had it recommended by people, but I've always mixed mine and never had a problem. I think it comes down to personal preference.
@@LowkeyLawnCare thanks for the feedback. Was curious👍
No mention how to install string???
Here you go my friend! I finally ran out and had to throw some new line in there! czcams.com/video/M4m2iOZnvn0/video.html
Please any lawn professionals can you tell me what you use? I saved enough money from jobs to finally get a weed eater but I need experience from you guys.
Maruyama b27L turbo. Japanese made, Lexus of string trimmers.
good video. Gave you a sub.
hey good vid. do u use a strap or harness with it ? jw
I haven't actually used the strap yet...although it did come with one!
remove that plastic handle and install a Darwin's grip- stand tall bro!

I have scared to use it.
Who runs a trimmer with a tank top? Is this a Californian thing?
@Bo Hunter lol
I been trying to turn this shit on for an hour now still no luck
Did you prime and choke it then turn the choke off while the on switch is in the on position?
Rick James of the Trim yo!
ALEX JONES!!!!
I thought the same thing!
I can’t unsee it now.
Lizard people!! Ahhhh!
Pretty sure it’s one and zero on the starter, not I and O
Actually as a lawn care pro, the shaft doesn't create nor take away power. That's all in the motor guy!
You're absolutely right, if so they'd take away all emissions bullshit that kills the power🤔🇺🇸
@@chevyguy98silverado89 Agreed. These things work for me. No carb issues but we have to ocvasionally scrape the exhaust port for carbon buildup.
Bought me a brand new one last night.
Robert Clark how much?
lola kay 200
How do you like it.
dr-nocka. Like it a lot. After working for a Still dealer for several years I would never own a crappy Stihl.
Robert Clark I'm headed to home depot right now.
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
At 3:30 he got no feet! Where'd they go?!!! HA!
Mines took 30 pulls
do you have lots of gas??? are those shaded safety glasses ??? come no do you really need to tell us all that ???
You do know that has the ez pull starter. You're not supposed to drop pull these types of starters or you'll destroy the coil inside.
