Excellent playing. But I would like to point out something about the pianist. She is excellent as well and please have a look to what she does when Matthew is playing the Candenza. She is LISTENING. That's what an excellent musician does and, unfortunately, you won't find this seriousness of work and behavior as often as needed.
    Bravo both players!

Did he actually do the ending up the D string? That's incredible! I haven't seen anyone else doing that. This version is amazing. Both the piano and the bass have outstanding articulation and the sound is very light and careless. Truly amazing playing!

It’s actually easier on the d string, since after the high D almost every note is a harmonic on the D

Bravo! Your performance brightened and warmed an otherwise cold, rainy Monday morning. Please post more. Thank you! Your instrument speaks so clearly across the entire range (and then some). Please, who is the maker, date of construction (string manufacturer/gage and tuning too if you don't mind)?

very, very good and beautiful tecnicque and sound. Perhaps a little bit too much fast, Bottesini want a very melodic approach and consequent tempo, more a MAESTOSO caracter. Anyway, great bassist!

I mean, I have to disagree. I feel like the only possible way you could think this is if you played some other instrument then the bass, or just dislike the bass in general. 7:53 might be one of my favorite parts of any solo music that I have listened to.
