  • How to grow California and Iceland Poppy from seeds? Though Poppies don't thrive in very hot climates, we can still grow them considering daytime temperature doesn't cross 34°C [93.2°F]. Here in this video, I have shown everything from sowing seeds to flowering and I hope you would enjoy the blooms.

    It was challenging to find a video that said anything about care of the adult plant, thank you for including it in your video. Everyone is talking about seeds, but I got a whole plant from my garden center and just needed to know how to care for it.

    Thanks for the video. I have grown up seeing the most beautiful and varied colours of nature, a full garden of poppies, season after season. Bumble bees, butter flies and dragon flies added more colours to the garden. But now when I started gardening for last few couple of years, I could not collect the seeds yet. Can someone provide me the seeds ? As I understand, due to Govt restrictions, it is not available openly. Pl share.

      Almost all plants can be transplanted though few prefer not to be transplanted...

      @@marianbinny3529 lol nobody gets high on poppy during holi, cannabis is used. Even that is not prevalent these days tho, only few people who are already into that stuff consume it during holi.

      Thank you very much :-) Based on my knowledge, the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) variety is illegal to cultivate. But still, I would say, it would be better to research more.

    Sir I grew them 15 day ago few seeds GERMINATING but not growing fast

      15 days is bit early...no worry, very soon they would start growing well. In case, you are able to see true leaves, please transplant them. Sir is not required :-)

      Sure, we can! But, please be bit careful as the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) variety is is forbidden from cultivation in most areas.

      The ones shown in the video are Iceland and California poppies. The one you are talking about is opium poppy.
