5:49 I really like the bone conduction feature, as these probably could be used for orientation and mobility as follows. The person who is blind, originally impaired as pair these headphones with their Wii WALK smart cane. Wow, they are walking down the street, of course, using their own M skills as taught by their Owen M instructor. They can still hear their environment around them, well at the same time, hearing your directions given by we WALK‘s GPS system. it is very, very important, extremely important that is, to have your ear canals, open, whenever doing any orientation and mobility training. This is why I like these headphones, and will recommend them to an orientation and mobility specialist that I know. Of course, these are only to be used for private listening of weed. WALK or Orcam, Mayeye pro, if you’re on the bus and reading the schedule for the next stop with the Orcam.
2:31 check with the charging port is magnetic can be a great help for those of us who are blind, or visually impaired, and who don’t want to mess with the smaller end of a USB cord all the time. Plus, it can be better for those individuals who don’t quite take care of their technology as good as they should, bending the pins in the small end of the USB port, just by being too rough with the unit.
Agreed! I am visually impaired (blind in my right eye/no depth perception), and this is very helpful
2:54 in keeping with the current theme of my comments, the quoteplus “button is the bottom one on the right hand side. It has two tactile bumps on it, which means they are raised those of us who are visually impaired or blind. Can’t tell the difference between it and the upper “minus “button, only having a single dot on top.

Thank you for the detailed guide. I have an Openrun Pro that my wife is currently using. As you know, the lady's hands-on skills are relatively poor, and this guide is just right for her. I am currently using Wissonly Hi Runner, which is much cheaper. My family status determines that I can only use cheaper products :). However, I think Hi Runner is also good.

Well mines not the same. For a start it has a C type connection for charging. Also apparently there are THREE settings on in the EQ Standard, Vocal and EAR PLUGS setting which mine doesn't have! I have found that getting the sound pads in the right position is critical otherwise the sound and come mainly from the right side( i have reset) and I have also moved the sound balance to the left on my device.. Which I shouldn't have to do. Apart from that I'm satisfied with the sound even if not much bass.
Can I connect my I pad and phone together with my shokz open run headphones I have air shokz and was able to watch Netflix and it would let me answer my phone
Worth noting on the charge side, Shokz tell you not to use USB sources capable of >1A (so basically any modern USB adapter) and not to leave them connected once it's turned blue. This doesn't appear to be a normal safe USB charging system which self terminates and self limits current. Which is odd given that they don't provide a charger...
James thanks for pointing this out. I've left mine on a charger longer than needed likely and haven't had any issues, but sounds like people shouldn't follow my footsteps!!!
James I just got these and the charger is in the box in the other box under where the headphones are as well as a nice case to store them in with the instructions sheet.
@@MoistMage69 they do not include a charger, only a charge cable. From their own website and box "You can charge your headphones with the included charging cable. Please ensure the adapter (not included) does not exceed 1 amp or 5 volts."
The cable isn't a charger, just a cable, you can destroy your headphones if you plug it into the wrong type of USB source like any mobile phone charger.
@@GearRules unfortunately, if it is unprotected as they suggest with their marketing, then it will cause battery damage over a medium term duration (overcharge damage isn't usually catastrophic if the charge current and voltage are close to ideal and you're not talking hours of overcharge). But to not include a 1$ 3x3x1mm charge control chip seems very odd.
I know I sound like I'm ranting--not sure I should keep mine. Like I would know what "1A" means or how many amps or volts any of that stuff is! I feel pretty sure the average person would not know any of this. Also, for someone with "average" eyesight and touch sensitivity, I cannot feel any of the touch stuff or even find the buttons and such without a good light and magnification.

‼️‼️‼️ help ! I past the 30 day return because I got these as a gift . They’re really too big. I need the mini smaller size. Any suggestions on how I can approach this.? I love them but they keep slipping off the proper place beside my ear to stay in place ‼️
Can someone else pair the device too in your household? Ours has a red and blue light, but it won’t stay on ,ie. blue light. If we connect to charge the light goes red even if it was always charged. I think we have a dud.
I would assume these could charge for using the USB port on a PC, correct? Of course, using a regular adapter would also work, correct?
Those comments with timestamps should be read and commented to that once, as they deal with Blindness specific applications of these headphones. Another one, but it’s just for you. The orientation of the headphones is very good, such that whenever the person who is blind or visually impaired, puts that your pieces against their face, moving towards the back of their head, they can very easily know how to put these headphones on as they slide them down, and they just fit… Sort of like glasses for the eyes, but “your glasses. they are also very comfortable, at least for me. However, for those with Pechtel sensitivities, they could, of course, use other types of your phones if these do not work, or physically hurt. Thank you for the video, and I will definitely share it around the community of special education, if that is OK with you.
My iPad is not pairing to headset. What to do?
I have a new set of Shokz openrun pro and I'm slightly on the fence with them right now. I too have an old pair of Aftershokz Trekz Air and I loved the tone beep when you did talk to text, Openrun pro doesn't have that and it's annoy af! because I don't know when the new pair is ready to start taking my dictation for texting. I was hoping that this video had a section where it would mention how to set the setting where the tone beep was an option.

Where can I buy these
It doesn’t pair automatically. The buttons are too small and often a pain. You can’t feel the left button. Other than that it’s a good device. You just have to remember, it’s for Ambient Sound. You crank up the volume too much and the headphones will be very uncomfortable.
I paired it with my phone but cannot pair it with my laptop
Can you use this headphone, run around your neighborhood while your phone is left in the house?
I got the Shokz headset as a gift for my sister. We paired it on her iPhone, but the pairing doesn't last!!! The Shokz show up on the list, but as being not connected. Every time she wants to use them, she has to pair again to make them connect. Have you heard of this problem and how do I fix it? She has at least 2 other devices paired to Bluetooth (car and also something separate that says, "Hands Free").
I have to make sure ALL other paired devices are disconnected and Bluetooth OFF to connect to the device I want to connect to.

Great question. I’m not with them right now, typically there is an LED but not sure it’s always on.
I typically put them on and hit the volume buttons, if a hear noises indicating the volume changing, I know they are on. Otherwise I go through the power on sequence
How do you wear the headband that comes with the mini?
Great question, Phil! I never got around with wearing that. I typically use a BUFF or a hat when running ... I haven't tried out the headband, but it looks like it could help a good amount for diverting the sweat!

Great questions. My phone indicates percentage of battery and when you power it on it will audible say “battery high “ or “battery low”. You can definitely listen to movies with this. If you are hard at hearing or it’s really loud and you want to hear every word, 50 cent ear plugs clean up the audio. The original ones I got came with them. Hope this helps
@@GearRules you’re correct, it does announce battery level. Have never noticed before. As for watching movies on airplanes, I think it has to be a wired headset unless watching movie on phone, not seat back. Thanks for the reply!

Hey Vivian. That’s not correct! You can use them to watch those things. But with these headphones you will still have a lot of ambient noise coming through as you listen. That’s why I suggest using ear plugs if watching something where you must listen to every single word. But it’s not mandatory

Mt buletooth not picking it up at all..
I am looking into those headphones, and I am interested, in the past I have purchased some cheaper headphones which were also marketed as bone conduction, and you could hear the sound coming of them even if you weren't wearing them, it was like they essentially were very small speakers hanging near your ears. Are those the same? Should they be like that? Maybe it is a stupid question but laws in my country say that electronic products can't be returned after being turned on, and I can't efford to "test" my question with 150-200$
Hey. I'm sorry for the late response. These are essentially micro speakers (but seem more vibration based). When you are wearing them, it is not easy for other people to hear what you are listening to.
My experience is these are the most durable headphones I've had, especially for exercise. I think they are worth the price point. I understand your concerns. The only reason I maybe wouldn't get these is if you are making a lot of calls in a dynamic environment. But they are great for listening, hearing around you, and lasting a long time!

Great question! The talking on the phone does work much better with this generation of headphone. I was mainly referring to two warnings:
1. For safety: Just be careful trying to have a conversation while moving!
2. Air feedback. The person on the call may hear a lot of air, as with any other headphone (but these do pretty well, I did a convo while on a bike at 15 mph and it worked fine!).

not really, they do have a few different styles if you are looking for something smaller? They are kind of one size fits all.
How long does it take to fully charge? Does the light change from red when it is fully charged? How do you use it on Zoom?
I need to gather more metrics on charging for you. For what it's worth, I RARELY have to charge them. When they are being charge the light is RED and turns to solid BLUE when they are full. I haven't used them on Zoom, but I have made phone calls with them. They seem ok when you are stationary, but if you are moving around or there's a lot of wind, they (understandably) are not great as the microphone is far form you mouth. I hope this helps.

1:54 I like the fact that there’s not many buttons on these headphones. The reason why I like that fact is because I would love to try using these in special education. I am a CZcams watcher who is blind, but I really think these could be used for part of the special education curriculum (orientation and mobility). my comments, well, of course, I have timestamps where available. For this one, people who might be a little slow… Have cognitive delays… Will probably also like the fact that only three buttons exist on these headphones. They are very easy to use, and other words.
Does the Shokz OpenRun connect to a Garmin Forerunner 745 watch?
My measly Forerunner 935 doesn't allow downloading music, but if you can connect other headphones to your watch (which I presume you can), then I assume this would be no different! Seems like a pretty awesome setup.

yes they do! you just need to pair the headphones with the device you are listening on CZcams on.
For some reason it aint popping up for me to connect to it on Bluetooth
Hey MrShockyo. Couple things,
1. Confirm the headphones are able to power on (while wearing them press and briefly hold power button) , if you here "welcome to shokz" or button press beeps you should be good. IF not try charging them.
2. Confirm your device bluetooth is searching (maybe toggle bluetooth on and off?)
3. Be sure the shokz are in pairing mode. Press and hold that power button until you hear "pairing".
There's a chance it's connecting to another device first (?), if you have another device its connected to, turn that bluetooth off while trying to pair.

Hey. You definitely can use it sitting in a bar. I know a lot of people use it at factory I frequent. It can get loud enough to hear and understand voice!

that's odd, it's possible you are paired to the wrong device or not paired at all. Did you have any luck?

The Shokz OpenRun headphones have a battery life of eight hours when fully charged, and a 10-minute quick charge gives you 1.5 hours of battery life. The OpenRun Pro headphones have a battery life of 10 hours, and a 5-minute charge gives you 1.5 hours of battery life.
How long does it take to charge my headphones? OpenRun also features a 10-minute Quick Charge for up to 1.5 hours of battery life. Charging from 0 to 100 percent will take 1-1.5 hours.

I tested out a pair for of the Shokz Pros today, these things are straight TRASH! The audio output was horrible!! I’ll stick with my Gen 2 Apple Air Pods.
I would generally agree with you. This does not live up to apple air pods, but I think they have entirely different use cases if you can afford to have them both.
These are great for exercise, dynamic and intense environments where your safety or the safety of the product is at risk. I don't like wearing airpods when I need to hear or in the rain etc. Just food for thought

Hey man on mines one side is working which is the right side. The leff side works becuase the button on is still functioning however no audio any reasons why?
sorry for the late response. I would say the headphones are "broken", would reach out to the supplier and see if it's still under warranty, I had a malfunction early on and they replaced it immediately. Hope this helps.
