it's genuinely so crazy to me how Eugene goes for the most insane shit and somehow makes something surprisingly good almost every single time, it's like that thing where some people have just perpetually bad dice rolls, there's some mystical force in the universe that allows for this to occur
and then there's the time he put bread in icecream and was surprised that rather than be soft and tasty it was frozen because its fucking BREAD that got put IN THE FREEZER
Because Eugene is one of those people who just... osmose skills and apply them in creative ways.
I think it's because he understands the basics of cooking a lot more than some of the other participants, so even the fuck ups are mostly reasonable

Where I live there is pretty much a churro stall in every fair you'll find, across the whole country, but yet I would have never guessed "cook it" meant to make a choux lol

Keith and Eugene put MEAT in their Churros and theirs Churro-ified while the others did not. Wild. How.
meat pastes can hold their shape well and fry up nicely, so it didn't matter as much for the batter to be right (which it wasn't, of course)

Protein, when cooked, turns firmer. So even when they didn't turn the flour into paté, the meat in the dough give it similar-ish texture

Keith is truly a brilliant showman. Keeping up a stream of conversation whilst cooking, singing with a lovely baritone, and establishing an awesome persona throughout the whole series. He belongs in front of the camera/on a stage, no doubt!

Spring rolls might be too simple, but it did get me thinking about some of the really complex Asian dishes which could turn out to be disastrously fun.

@@gracehowell. they’re a fresh rice paper roll with vermicelli noodles and typically basil, shrimp and/or tofu, crunchy veggies and served with a peanut sauce. In the states they’re called fresh spring rolls, but when I went to the UK I saw that they were called Summer rolls at the Vietnamese restaurants I went to.
I just want to say something: I think almost every video - Mama Rachel is without a doubt one of the most amazing people I've seen. How she was commanding everything was so incredible to watch. Honestly, she is a hero.

Zach was truly vexed that the audience agreed with the judges, but I agreed with them too. Keith and Eugene were the only ones to make a pipe-able dough so theirs looked like churros and cooked like churros. I think it is so cute that Keith turned so red from happiness when the audience chose him. He turned almost as red as he does when he's angry.😂

To be fair, there are supposed to be eggs in the dough 😂
The audience was also wrong, tho? They may not have needed to add eggs at that particular point in the process, but considering all the guys skipped past the step of cooking their choux and went straight to mixing their dough, they actually added eggs at the correct time. Taking the audience's word and not adding eggs would have ruined their dough.
They should have a show where the professional chef recreates the recipes. It’ll be fun to know if some of these wild recipes are possible.
I want Jonny to do this so bad. They lowkey started it with the videos where he redoes the soup macarons, but I get annoyed because they never give Jonny enough time to accomplish the task well.

On Keith's behalf, I would have been upset if Zach had won... I love all of you, this series is SO funny because I know I would be just as chaotic in this kind of scenario, but Keith did SO well on the churros! They were so pretty and I really wanted to taste one.

Pozole, tamales, Pad Thai, butter chicken, saag paneer, French onion soup in bread bowl, clam chowder, latkes, pho, chow mein, banana cream pie, sushi rolls, gyros, chicken piccata, granola, beef Wellington
So.. I zoned back in and Eugene is making a crab stir-fry..

recipe suggestion for next season: pound cake. in theory the recipe is easy enough with a pound of butter, sugar, eggs, flour but it’d be fun to see their takes on it & if they’ve learned any technique from the series

The fact that Zach looks like a hot chef and Eugene always looks like a college student who sleeps through his morning class is such a mood.
I feel like Eugene didn't get enough props for making an absolutely insane churro flavor that somehow worked
1 cup plain flour
1 cup boiled water
1 small pinch of salt
Mix in bowl using wooden spoon, combining ingredients slow/medium speed for just a minute. The batter should be warm, and sticky to the touch but should not stick to your fingers when you press into the mixture.
Spoon the mixture into a churrera/churro maker (available on Amazon $19 AUD), compress mixture whilst slowly loading hand held churerra making sure there are no air bubbles. Using churrera and medium star shaped attachment, slowly coil mixture out onto deep hot vegetable or canola oil in frying pan until golden brown. Remove onto paper towel to absorb oil. Coat in caster sugar, shaking off excess sugar. Cut churro coil into decent sized pieces with scissors. Serve plain or with chocolate or dulce de leche dipping sauce ❤

I have always wanted to enjoy a without a recipe live but money is tight for me, and this was the coolest treat to wake up to today! This is so picky of me to say, but as someone who's spanish and has seen my grandma making churros my whole life: Churros is "poor people" food. It's literally just water, flour, and salt, deep fried and then tossed in sugar. No vanilla, no butter, no cinammon. No nothing. You can do variations and I'm sure they're delicious with fillings and cinammon and what not but the charm of a churro is just the fact that it was what poor people made when no other ingredients were around and they wanted to make a super cheap, easy to make, delicious treat. And I like them better just like that.
Not picky at all, to appreciate food as it is now we should know where it comes from. It helps stop the gentrification of "poor people" food and brings light and appreciation to the communities where foods like this started. Always gotta look at the roots

That is really dependent on where in the world you are, because they are widespread through Latam and Iberia and they are done with slight variation, churros are coated in sugar with cinnamon and are filled with sauce where I am, nobody would do it in the way you said, that's the origin in your part of the world, here it is not a poor people dish, it is a dish you buy when you go play in the square playground, go for a walk or are leaving church, things like that, also, birthday parties.
Yeah, I understand changing the recipe for a restaurant menu, but I do wish they had included the traditional one in the video since it's supposed to teach the audience what it is that the guys are working around.
@@bluester7177 to explain spain pov w/o anyone asking, it's like hearing sushi with idk, pinnaple and bbq sauce, is more authentic than the one made in japan!! Ok, there's been some variation and development in other places, but if they're doing something completly different we don't want to hear its typical spanish. I'm sure it tastes great, but the first reaction from any spaniard is going to be at minimal disgust 😂😂
