    I want to use a butcher block counter top and finish with epoxy. Just to clarify, you're torching the finish just after you've used the chop brush, right? So it's bumpy, and self levels, then you torch it... In the video it just shows it all choppy and the next thing I see is a really smooth surface... just want to be sure I know how it got smooth. Thanks.

     @Stone Coat Countertops has anyone done a comparison of wet sanding then buffing really, ridiculously well vs a new top coat? I would be really interested because there's always the likelihood of dust or something ending up in the top coat and leaving tiny imperfections. I'd like to truly know if it could be possible to fix JUST that spot. I want to know if a part of the project can be buffed to match the glossy finish.
    I feel like with all the sanding needed for epoxy projects and the sheer size of many countertop jobs this HAS to be a relatively common issue and everyone's response to dust in the final layer can't just be sand it down, pour again and cross your fingers there's no dust lol.
    I had a similar thing happen on a big dining table I just epoxied and I want to fix it properly, but I don't want to have to put a clear coat on only to have it be messed up again by dust (or dog hair)

    Hi, Thanks for your great instructional videos.
    I am a bit confused, in this video and many other of your videos you mix a few gallons of epoxy at the same time. I have bought the same Art Coat epoxy from you that you use in the video, but on the bottles it says that I shouldn’t mix more than one gallon maximum at the time. I need to mix more, and since I will be doing my project by my self I prefer to mix more at once to give my self more working time. So my question is can I mix more than one gallon at the time?

    Question after using the brush does it smooth out by itself or does it smooth out using the torch?

    • @mikeelek9713
      @mikeelek9713 Před 3 lety

      The epoxy is self-leveling - much like water is self-leveling. As you get closer to the end of the working time (about 45 minutes), the epoxy begins to harden and thicken. By that time, it should have self-leveled.
      The torch removes the air bubbles, but doesn't help it level.
      It's crucial that your working surface is level. Like water, if one side is higher than the other, the epoxy will pool at that end.
