IMO....most RC has lost touch with modeling , this is dope
Absolutely gorgeous!!! Very nice job on the fit and finish!! I'm a late 80's early 90's kid. I do remember drooling over kits like this and begging my parents for one!! Here I am 30+ years later and I'm still drooling!!
Same here man, two of my neighbors had this and the tamiya grasshopper in 88. I always envied them, and I never got one. I have to get one of these, it would make my childhood complete
I have the 1980's Version, still running, love it. Even after 37 Years...
I built this kit last yr, not difficult, but very time consuming. I went with stock appearance as you did. One thing I will say, once completed and held, you know you're holding something of quality, very beefy and tough, unlike my Hornet kit. I love the 80's RCs, but I have to admit, or atleast with the Hornet...it feels as cheap in the hand as did the Nikko Thunderbolt ect...But I still Love them. The biggest upside to the Scorpion is the lack of a hanging gearbox, I'm sure we've all made that walk to take our foot and nudge the ass end over the branch or mound of grass it got stuck on because of said gearbox getting stuck on any and everything with those 80's classics, but not with this model. This is a true sandrail that's all business, no shelf queening for me. It's made to enjoy. The Optima is my next project.
We beat RC 10s with his baby, BUT, if you bent the chassis rails in a crash, you were done for the day. My local hobby shop did not carry parts. I modified the front chassis for this reason and it was bullet proof. One of the best looking RC buggies ever, and a lot of fun to watch my daughter beat the boys with it.

Beautiful! There is no other word for it! I have a Tamiya Wild Dagger from 90's and I drive a lot, wish they do the same like kyosho and re-release it just to leave on the shelf, but this is just a dream haha! Nice one Rich, keep it beautiful like this aways!
Thanks Lucas, Kyosho did a great job on this one!
Thank you so much..69 year old kid still loving rc cars..1981 Era biulder.. Hornet, frog and still love the style.. Will get a Turbo soon as my social security budget saves a bit each month...My bride keeps tight reign on me when I start watching rc network. lol she knows I am going to get it but we play the game out then she gets it.. But thank you for your wonderful show and site..
James Burrow thanks James for all the nice compliments on the channel. These re-releases effect many people from the nostalgia of the 1980's. I always had my eye on these, just couldn't afford them at the time. Thanks again! And hopefully that Turbo comes soon!
I want one now. The only thing I want to add to it is the vintage 12" antennae tube that showed it was a "real" rc car. You gotta have that!
Just ordered myself one of these ... had to get it from Isreal as couldn't find any RC stores in UK/EU that had them in stock. Also gone a little mad on some tasty Corally sensored engine/ESC bits, Upgraded ceramic bearing kit, high spec servo and also got a SkyRC gyro to keep things on the straight!!
Love my Kyosho models and cant wait for it to arrive.
Nice! It's truly a piece of history and art!
@@TheRCNetwork Thanks, I have so many models that this may become a shelf queen but I can't wait to get building on it but first have to finish a scale rc truck for crawling 6wd
Great job on the build, box art builds are the best.
I'll pick one f these up when the next run comes out later this year.
Hopefully they're still making them...I know they had a limited run back in 2017
Very nice build! Please drive it! Would love to see it in action!
Dion Parchment yes, she will be driven. It's hard after all the work of assembling and paying homage to the heritage of this buggy. Stay tuned!
The RCNetwork drive it for the people!! You do all this for us the people 😉 and we thank you! Cheers!
I love it. There's no cover for the gears??
I had the Tomahawk when I was 15.
Looks great, now its time for some Turbo action!
Don't get it too dirty
that turned out sharp rich very cool man
I wanted one of these in 83 but the hobby shop guy told my parents it was to Advanced as I was only twelve years old at the time and my parents ended up buying me a frog which I look back and I say to myself they made the right choice because I absolutely love my frog but still wish I got a turbo scorpion but a couple years after the Frog I ended up getting one of the original rc10 kits
That thing is sexy af. I love all of these re-releases. To me it's like a retro mod. You take a gorgeous machine on the outside and you use modern parts to make it actually usable. Let's face it old cars are slow as fuck, handled like shit, and had horrible fuel economy. Now we can million dollar man them and get the best of both worlds.
Very nice, although I think I’d want a brushless system.
Just got to be careful with the driveline....this car was designed for brushed/nicd, although it was updated slightly for todays faster systems
Stunning!
jaw dropping beauty!
Just BEAUTIFUL!
shenlonco thanks Shen!
Does this rere kit come with a gear diff or a ball diff
Thank you for your great videos! I have just built this excellent kit, which I got myself a few months ago. What a beauty!!! But I noticed one thing in your video. The placeholders (OT210R2) are missing from the upper mounting of your front shock. Are you aware of this and if so why or did you just forget them? Thanks for your answer and greetings from Bavaria ...
I tried looking up that part, and I couldn't find it. Not exactly sure what that is...I could have missed that
I've been waiting
0:57 im curious, do you not already own a decent transmitter that has model memory with all the rc cars you have?
Yep, I run a Futaba 4PX for all my race vehicles and a 4PV for all my fun vehicles that have converted away from the stock radio
Would u get the
Turbo scorpion or
The re release Ultima coming up..?
I like the Scorpion
wanna see it run! looks really clean though
Been on a "kinda-vacation" will be back and getting this thing going
Take your time Rc Net, have a feeling the scorpion will be smooth and has great stability like most kyosho's reissue kits! enjoy your vacation
Where do you buy a light kit from?
This was just a cheap Yeah Racing 4 LED light kit that goes straight into the receiver for power
6:57 Does anybody know if this O-ring is inside the gear box or the outside? In this video it looks like inside, but the manual does look different!
Did you figure it out. I think the cover pushes on the O ring then onto the pinion to keep in place
Hello, I have a vintage Ultima I would like to update would you recommend a kit like the ep started pack that would work for to update of my Ultima? Thanks I subbed
From what I know, the re-releases are made to take today's power systems including the EP starter pack. In other words brushless and Lipo, potentially. I'm not sure on the fitment of those items in a vintage....but I don;t see why the EP starter kit wouldn't fit.
Wasnt it a COX SCORPION originally ?
What is in your opinion the ideal battery for this car in combination with the EP Starter Pack? I just ordered this car and the EP Pack :) Thanks
A slim 2s Lipo will be perfect. Something along the lines of a 4000-5000mah hardcase
Are you going to get video of this build running?
Yep....This will run once - just for CZcams and that's it......on the shelf it goes!
Thanks!! My two are coming in the mail tomorrow. It looks like the blue trim sticker and pinstripe is super tricky to put on. do you recommend an experienced person put those on if possible?
Brushed motor? you've got some catching up to do.
This was a show item...just ran it once for the channel
Oh give me a break. Not everybody wants to destroy their buggys with a top end motor.
Would've looked nice with machined aluminum parts.
The price would have sky-rocketed
At least as an option.
why not a cheap ebay brushless combo. i have one in my rustler and right now it does 81kms
Nicholas Coucoularis I've never done "cheap eBay" and this vintage Scorpion doesn't need to go 100mph. I think it will be fine with a brushed motor
The RCNetwork well i have mine geard up. anyways nice rig
First!!!1
Hanz Montecillo thanks for being here first! 👍👍👍
