She has said that her German-Mexican dad was always singing these Ranchera songs while she was growing up, that's why she titled the Rancheras CD as "Canciones De Mi Padre" (Songs Of My Father). She was the Queen of Rock, Folk and Country music during the 70's and 80's and she was also top notch singing Mexican Rancheras. .

La potencia de su voz, el vibrato, el control del falsete, y el rango tan amplio de su voz con el cual puede interpretar desde rock hasta light opera. I love the way how the Mexican eagle so symbolic of modern day Mexican culture and our Precolumbian Native American roots is on display and embroided on the back of her outfit at the beginning of the video. Those who know anything about Mexican culture know that there's nothing more Mexican than the Aztec/Mexica eagle, and Linda embodies and embraces it! Linda Ronstadt is shouting out to the world that she's a proud Mexican American!
Much of our Mexican culture also comes from our European forefathers as well… nothing is more Mexican than tequila, carne asada, queso, mariachi/banda/ranchera, etc. which come from them.

You are indeed wrong that Mexicans are natives however, since 80%+ of Mexico has ancestors from Europe, whether they are currently white/criollo or Mestizo, the largest group in the country. That being said, the average Mexicans ARE definitely European descendants, and several scientific genetic studies show it. As a Mexican myself, I have also done my genealogy, and every single grandparent in Mexico (from several different states) have ancestors from Europe. I can trace almost every line to the 1700’s, and many lines to the formation of modern Mexico itself in the 16th century. I’m a descendant of both Cortez and Moctezuma themselves. That most Mexicans trace to Europe is basic knowledge for anyone who knows Mexican history and anthropology.

SURELY Linda Ronstadt is the most accomplished singer in the western world ? What COULDN'T she sing ? Folk, rock, country, country rock, folk-rock, cajun (with Ann Savoy) and no relation (!) the Savoy Operas (Gilbert & Sullivan), big band swing and The Great American Songbook (with Nelson Riddle) and mexicana / texicana (songs from her childhood with her parents)................. she is, quite simply nonpareil (unique). Folk, rock, country, country rock, folk-rock, cajun (with Ann Savoy) and no relation (!) the Savoy Operas (Gilbert & Sullivan), big band swing and The Great American Songbook (with Nelson Riddle) and mexicana / texicana (songs from her childhood with her parents)................. she is, quite simply nonpareil (unique).
There will NEVER be another singer as magnificent and so humble as Linda Ronstadt.
Although it's so tragic she is unable to sing anymore, thank goodness she has recorded so much for OUR personal enjoyment!!

She DOES speak Spanish with an accent. And she can "feel" the songs as a Mexican because she learned them while growing up from listening to her father singing the Rancheras, that's why she titled her CD as "Canciones De Mi Padre".

That is the reason Linda grew up listening to Mexican music her father and grandmother used to play and sing, and she titled her 1990 Mexican songs CD "Canciones De Mi Padre" (Songs Of My Father). The song in the video is one of the songs in that CD, which I bought when it was released.

Linda has said in interviews that her father used to sing Mexican rancheras in SPANISH which was the music he grew up with because of his father's and grandmother's love for rancheras. And Linda recorded that ranchera music CD as a tribute to her father and titled it: CANCIONES DE MI PADRE.
Noticeably, for some reason, in your "research" you completely ignore Linda's father, as if he had never existed, you don't even mention him, and he was Linda's biggest influence as she was growing up, and the motivation for Linda to sing and record "Songs Of My Father".
