Culver Fire Tower: Not as Good as Remembered

I had been to the Culver Fire Tower lookout many years ago and unfortunately had a false memory of the viewpoint. Still a great location, but not close the the best trail vista in NJ.

Just for my understanding, were you showing the view from the top of the tower or the base of the tower? I am looking to do a hike from Sunrise Mt overlook to the fire tower at some point soon. By the way I love your idea of doing a series on the best viewpoints in the state, I need to catch up on some back episodes!
Hey there Walter. My footage is from the ground, made the arbitrary decision for the series not to climb man made structures, and wanted to point out the best natural views. Enjoy that hike!
Bearfort fire tower has the best view of the NJ towers in my opinion. Just need to. Get the Newark watershed permit at echo lake office to hike there.

Yeah check it out but for your series here. There is no view at the base of bearfort tower, you have to climb it to see the view but it’s a great 360 degree view and the hike is pleasant. If you do the loop from the P1N pull off you can take the fire tower ridge trail to the tower and the hanks west trail back and visit hanks pond.
Excellent. I think i was supposed to do this hike with a group last year but weather canceled it and we never went back
