Boyfriend girlfriend relationship is not allowed, but have the parents, siblings, and friends investigate and test the person. By asking around neighbors or seeing them actually going to masjid and pray, test and see how they deal with people by testing them with some they haven't seen. And invite them to meet your parents and ask them questions directly. If they don't want to see your parents than they're probably not serious.

Whatwaa, from what you mentioned that man and woman needs to be dating to know each other. You can't imagine just how many of my Muslim friends are getting married without even knowing each other, not to mention having couple relationship. That's the beauty of Islam.

Islamically you can date each other as long as the parents are present or at least someone in the family present with you so that adultery doesn't take place. It could be in a restaurant for example where u have your own table but the family members are a few tables away making sure that the two people that are dating are keeping their limits.
This way you can get to know that person in the intention that if you like each other.. you'd get married.. if not you can go your own way without commitment, in a halal way where there was no holding hands, touching, kissing or any sexual contact involved

Salam Alekom , hey Mr Whaatwaa , concerning about your talk of couple dating to know each other before marriage , actually dating is not allowed in Islam , but there is "Engagement" which is allowed and mentioned in the holy Quran ( Surat Al-Baqara , verse 235) , it's for the same sake of dating but more serious , the man takes his parents and go to the girl's parents in order to "get engaged" after that they spend time to get to know each other and then marry if they found themselves suitable . ( But there are limits of course in engagement , for example they aren't allowed to be alone where is no one seeing them , also romantics is prohibited by islam in this period) . So it's a period of knowing the other not love and romance (that's come after marriage 😊)
