Not bad! I do own that 85mm myself because the proximity to f/1.2 is negligible and the added IS is a nice bonus. I will say that having the zoom Trinity is also a lifesaver because of the versatility of having glass that can capture the moment as opposed to risking missing the shot when youâre reaching for a prime from your bag. All in all, great recommendations.
I'm doing sigma 24mm 1.4 on one body, and 70-200mm 2.8 II on second body. Only problem is when you try to carry them all day on your neck, tends to be a tough task...
70-200 is the problem. 35-85 combo much lighter
Great shots đđđđđđđđ
Great video for us who did invest in mirroless but are still using EF lenses till we get established.
Good video, enjoyed seeing some of the shots and the differences with the different lenses. I've been asked to take my camera along to a friend's wedding to take some of the photos particularly in the evening. I have an aps-c camera rather than full frame so for that reason would you suggest the 24mm over the 35mm because of the crop factor then making it closer to the 35mm? I am also on a budget but realise I need better lenses than I currently have so am looking at the second hand market but I'm also wondering if because I'm on a budget should I consider the sigma 18-35mm f 1.8? I saw your review of that lens as well and it seems like a great buy and maybe more flexible; especially given you said you normally shoot at f2 to f2.8 most of the time so I wouldn't need that extra f0.4 that would come with the 24mm.
Hi James, nice video. I am R6 shooter, and I think 24-70mm F2.8 suit me better to replace 24mm and 35mm prime. Go for 3rd party Tamron G2 or Sigma Art, IMO. While for 85mm and 100mm mavro, I totally agree. Your views, pls.
cracking video, very in depth and practical advice
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Can you suggest for me wide lens for canon m50 mark ii?
Sir what about sigma 24-70 2.8? Its not good for wedding photography?
Hi! I use the sigma 35mm 1,4 on my R6, and I notice that the exposure is different than on any of the other lenses I use. I would have to change the exposure to +2 to get the same exposure as I get with other lenses on 0. Do you have the same issue? Or do you know why it is happening?
Great video!
Can you please let me know your aperture settings on taking 8-10 people for portrait?
I'm using 5-5.6 and even if I have flash I feel that the picture sitll grainy.
I can't see my self shooting at 2.8 for Group shots.
BTW im using eos R
Nice info, i just consider how about sigma 24-35mm f2? Do you think will be better that lens then have two prime lens 24mm f1.4 & 35mm f1.4?
great lens, you're trading 3 typical primes (24/30/35) for just over 1 stop of light, well worth it. Use that with an 85mm during the day and then i typically switch to the 35mm 1.4 at night/darker receptions for the light gain.
Here are my top favorite lenses for wedding photography:

Nice video! But now I'm absolutely lost.. Maybe somebody can help me out? I shoot on Canon 2000D, I have two lenses: EF-S 18-55 mm IS II and EF 75-300mm III-lens. I am looking at some new lenses: Sigma 150-600mm 1:5-6.3 DG OS HSM, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM or Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN ART Sony FE-Mount. Does anyone has some tips?
Also I have all these lenses and the 24-70mm I got second hand for $550 canon version and itâs very nice and surprised me even in lower light settings and the versatility is worth it .
85mm 1.4 i got second hand for $700 and itâs great but honestly the 1.8 is a great bargain as well for under $300 second hand I see them all the time .
70-200mm I went with a sigma G2 and honestly Iâve tested the canon and itâs very similar and I canât justify spending a twice as much for it
good collection. but if you hoping to jump in to the weddings you must have a 24-70 2.8.
35-150
28-75 2.8 is what I use with 35 macro
I have started my career as a wedding photographer and i bought sony a7m3 with kit lens 28-70 f3.5-5.6 and i am planning to buy a new lens because i have some shoots so i am bit confused which lens to purchase price lens 35mm f1.8 or 85mm f1.8 or should I buy tamron 70-180 f2.8 ?
I've shot weddings for 5 years with 2 lens 50m and 35m
Iâve been shooting weddings for 15 years and Iâve never needed my 24-70. 35 & 85mm are what I use. I also have a 16-35 for wide shots and a 70-200 for when I canât get near. But I could shoot the whole thing with a 35 and 85 if I needed to.
Brought vs bought.
You bring something. You buy something.
So youâve bought these lenses, not brought them :p
Maybe he stole them.
Zoom lenses are always softer than primes. Toss that 70-200 and get a 135 or 200.
Hy, according sigma,do y have any problems with focus like speed and out of focus ,that y can not fix it?
Basically you like every lens
Did he like the:-
14mm
16-35mm
24-70mm
28mm
40mm
200mm
No.
Questions let's say I want to take some photos at a band that is playing at a restaurant. Stage has lights and gig is at night. Which is the best lence to use
