Today, I'm swatching my top 10 favorite watercolor colors by Roman Szmal. I thought this would be a fun little series to show my favorite colors from some of the brands I own, why they are my favorite, and just enjoy some swatching bliss with you. What are your favorite watercolors?

i love roman szmal watercolours so much. from the range which is phenomenal i love potters pink, caput mortuum, perylene violet, buff titanium, hematite { violet shade}, przybysz's grey, transparent oxide brown, hematite, quinacridone gold, green gold, autumn green, green earth, vivianite, ultramarine intense, misty morning, pyrrole red, transparent pyrrole orange, lemon yellow. but to be honest i have almost all of them in different palettes for different subjects and seasons.
Yeah I really do like Roman Szmal watercolors. I know they are supposedly coming out with tubes, but I worry how that will impact them. Plus, I worry the price will drastically increase when they do release those. So, let's hope they don't haha
@watercolorwanderingwithk yes I managed to buy my paints mostly before big influencers got their hands on them. I do hope they bring out the tubes but I als equally worry about price increase. Hopefully they think about the small budgets as well xx

I wonder how many people had Aquarius Green in a set and thought, oh wow, I need more of these paints. Because it was the case for me. I don't have Ocean Blue yet, but I need to fix that, it is absolutely gorgeous!

Beautiful paints! I LOVE that Ocean Blue. Going to add that to my wishlist. The Aquarius Green is what got me into conveniences mixes, too. ☺

Wow!! I know this is a super late question on this video but I thought I’d give it a try…. What is the name of the stamp company that you got your double rectangular stamp from that you do your paint color swathes in? I really like the way it looks 😊. Thank you and I really enjoy your videos!

Misty Morning by RS is my favourite light blue/grey, as it works well by itself, and it not only separates into teal and rose with a little more water, but it has the hard edges framed with these two colours as an outer lining. Photos of swatches on Jacksons, do not do this colour justice. It isn't a granulating colour.
Put it down quickly, leave it. Buy more. Changes on different texture papers. My all time favourite grey.

@@watercolorwanderingwithk Yes I recently bought two more full pans, so I can use one in my studio palette. I can't recreate it with the same pigments. Put it in your basket, then in your favourites, and wait till the sale!
Waah I missed this. Oh well I found it now. My Roman Szmal collection keeps on growing. I have some RS pans coming from Jackson’s. I had a good think about which colors I wanted from the new collection. I chose strontium violet, Aquarius violet, urban grey, and two older colors, ocean blue and autumn green. I can’t wait. I still have a RS palette and some other full pans which I haven’t opened yet! 🤪🤣

Can I ask where you got your swatching stamps? I love the rectangle, paint tube and the jar. Makes swatching quicker and more fun. Also, having a black line can show the opacity. Thanks!
Awe well thank you. I got them from iritlandgrafartist.com/ but I don't see the option to click on her store anymore, so I don't know if she's still selling her stamp sets or not.

Such beautiful colours for different reasons and I LOVE them all!
The ocean blue and shadow violet light are particularly unique- the ocean blue is almost like a Phthalo turquoise from some brands but with a bit more… I’m not sure how to describe it. So much depth and rich.
The quin pink is stunning too- so vibrant!!
I really love all those colours you chose . No way I could pick one I love. I’m actually a sucker for blues in general- with all art supplies and colouring .
Those greens are beautiful- so many watercolour greens are a bit iffy.
Mineral violet is beautiful and deep!
Now I need to go thru my watercolours… 😅

So I actually purchased my stamp set from Irit iritlandgrafartist.com/home but they are no longer in her store. You can definitely message her and ask though!
How do these paints compare to the W&N professional ones? Any one out there who could help me?
So, it's really preference. Roman Szmal offers full pans for all of their paints (they are working on tubes), but have a great range of colors, pricing is great, lightfast testing and payout excellent. W&N Professional offer half pans, tubes, also have a great range of colors, lightfast ratings, etc. These, for me at least, feel like they rewet easier, are smoother, and I like the colors in their palettes more than W&N Pro, BUT there are some W&N Pro colors I have in my palette because I prefer their version of that color or pigment variation versus RS's version. Really, you want to try different brands, but you can stick to one if you only want to as well. For me, I mix and match brands to get the colors I want :)
