  • A Power Clean Complex that I use in the "GO" group to make my rugby players more powerful. Especially during the early preseason. Leaving the “Pocket Clean” or “High Hang Clean” at the end means the load stays reasonably light for the first 3 weeks as we build into it.

I couldn't quite work out what you're up to there. Terrible socks too...

@@CoachFmt Thanks for the response. I wonder if you could break this down some more. I've watched (and liked) lots of other videos of yours. It's only through watching another video yesterday [czcams.com/video/mPsxlNjv7Aw/video.html] that I've learned the various movements you're doing are variations on the clean. But there must be a reason why you do what you do in that way - making it a sort of giant set of these various types.

Ben, clean combinations (or snatch combinations) are used typically in volume blocks to build up/ into a more intensified phase of training (relative to 1RM). They’re not essential, as ever, there are many ways to taper into higher intensities. However, I’ve found them to be an extremely useful method.
They’re also useful for refining certain position that need work (so you can use a number of combos depending on what you/ the athlete needs). Placing the high-hang clean at the end is brutal, as there is no momentum. I have 3 “go-to” combos I like to use.
I’ve also noted hypertrophy benefits around the traps and upper back when bringing these into my guys training, which makes sense due to the increase volume. However, that could be multifactorial because we typically add these into the “neural group” during preseason.
Lastly, everyone needs a pair of lucky sucks 🤷‍♂ 😂 @@BenRelle

@@CoachFmt Thanks - useful. I'm trying to get a bit more up-to-date with this stuff. Lucky socks - yep - we all need a bit of luck now and again, no matter what the motivational posters say 😁
