Sir Leon voices his concern - they cannot abandon their quest, for though Merlin might live, thousands more will certainly die.
Lancelot offers to take Merlin back to Gaius whilst the others continue on without them. Arthur reluctantly agrees. But Merlin is fully aware that Arthur intends to sacrifice himself on the Isle of the Blessed and begs the Prince to take him with him. Arthur refuses, leaving Merlin powerless to stop him.
As Lancelot leads the stricken Merlin off, Arthur watches him go. It is a painful parting, for the two friends know they will never see each other again...

But he died as a respected, powerful knight, i think the character was well introduced, did its part well and the ending was proper. That's what i love about merlin series, audience can get to know the characters and each of them get their proper ending

I adored Lancelot and Merlinâs dynamic, with one of the respected knights finally knowing about him. That scene where Lance is like âyouâre meant to be. . . dyingâ and merlin goes âsorryâ is a favorite of mine honestly. (I believe itâs the same ep as this w Lance & Merlin riding back.) Itâs so precious to me for some reason?? Idk Iâll stop my rambling lol I just adored their friendship & was so sad when he couldnât be there for Merlin anymore :(
Agree. His relationship with Merlin was a breath of fresh air for the show, with the only confidants until then being Gaius and the dragon. And that's a top-quality actor. They could have included him in much more content.

I missed the beginning of this episode earlier today, and somehow it feels like CZcams knew that and put this in my recommended so I could see it. I'm grateful for that.

In the previous episode, when the doroccha was about to attack Arthur, Merlin moved in the way instead to protect him and got the full blast of the attack

Good and kind souls are both Merlin and Arthur.... this scene is one of my favorites..... the eyes of both of them speak of the true love that has bonded them together and it is indeed very painful to hold once tears when one can sense in one of the corner of one's heart that you ll ever meet the person you love dearly. I have seen many series, films or read books but these two characters are indeed true,real and pure where I could connect with them. Truly both are wonderful souls not only in the series but in real life. God bless both of you Colin and Bradely. I wish to have brothers like both of you. Love you both.....

honestly, the show did mostly great in portraying their relationship - and the actors were just phenomenal and a godsend. in this scene Arthur has to assume he won't see Merlin alive ever again and it is about to tear him apart. yet when Merlin makes a surprising comeback next ep all he does is clap him on the shoulder. king or not the Arthur we know would show his relief and be overjoyed. he hugged Merlin that one time when he thought he'd lost him before when Merlin emerged from that bog full of mud. imagine what he'd do this time.

I suggest you to look for, and read the script of the sixth season. You can find it with a quick Google search. It's not official, it was just written by professionals. I think it's very good and it provided me some closure.

it reminds me in season 5, when merlin lost all his magic and he needs to get to the crystal cave to get them back so he made up a lousy lie said he has to obtain supplies for gaius. the way he says this to arthur is just so desparate, yet sadly arthur thouht that merlin is being scared...:(

I knew nothing about this show but CZcams suggested a bunch of Merlin compilation videos to me at like 3AM one night. Now, 20 videos and 10 hours later, I still don't really know what's happening but I'm trying to find a way to watch the whole thing w/o a Netflix subscription
Oh my gosh... the same thing happened to me and i am now on season 4. I will definitely watch till the end, even though i already know the ending.
The characters are absolutely great, such wonderful actors, honestly!
And the script is so good as well. All the jokes and interactions are so well done. But really, it's not even the writing of the show, it is how the actors DELIVER.
Merlin is without a doubt one of the most charming tv shows i have watched and that is not because of the story itself, but the deep and complex characters. It is so unique in my opinion, the feeling that i get when i watch merlin, is like with no other show. It is just.. so precious to me.
As are the actors themselves! The cast is absolutely lovely.
