    In case you're wondering how Shadowserg is going through the lasers at 5:43, the game is deliberately allowing this so knowledgeable players can defeat the final boss sooner. Here's what one section of the credits reads:
    "The King can be defeated much more simply if you stand just to the right of him when he fires his lasers"

    I wonder why Polly Pirate plays for all bosses in the Mega CD version. I’d imagine if all tracks were used, there would an electric guitar playing in Emperor’s New Clothes and If Looks Could Kill, as well as a piano in Flour Power.

      @@Stonex180 As someone that's been playing Puggsy for over 20 years, I can tell you for a fact that the laser trick definitely isn't a hack, it's an intentional design choice to make the boss a cakewalk for those who take the time to learn about and master it (the right eye lasers don't damage Puggsy and if you mess up something the lasers will go over Puggsy on the right side of the screen), if you look carefully at the floor you'll see a slight graphical difference on the right side of the the right middle tile, that's a visual cue telling the player the general area they need to be in during the laser attack, once you get the positioning right you'll never take damage during that attack ever again.

    • @Cyber_Akuma
      @Cyber_Akuma Před 7 lety +12

      I am assuming they used some kind of background or foreground layers for the bosses, since I am pretty sure the Genesis would not have been able to handle sprites that big. The downside to this though is that you can't really animate them like you can with sprites.

      16-bit games still weren't at that point of time where massive bosses can be sprites. Super Metroid's Kraid, despite the boss itself being a background object, had MASSIVE slowdown during the fight. Thunder Force IV's Stage 9 boss also had some issues as well, and the multi joints didn't help at all.
      That and the game was limited to 8 megs of memory
