    Like another commenter posted, I have the board with the flaps and the main use is to quickly cover the puzzle to keep the cats off of it. My furry helpers absolutely will take the pieces and bring them to me in another room in case I wanted to use them there. I have the 1500 size, unfortunately no handle, and the table I use with mine has room to have one flap extended and the other one hangs down over the edge of the table. It takes seconds to fold up the flaps, which is the main goal. I've had a puzzle in progress stored in it in an upright position, with loose pieces on the trays, and the puzzle did shift a bit, but it was easy to fix the slips. I certainly wouldn't travel with it though, unless I could lay it flat.
    Thank you for showing off the various mats and boards. I find it wonderful that we have different needs and goals and there are different products to suit all the various situations. I hope your head is OK after being whacked by that tube.

    I do my puzzles on a large piece of bristol vellum paper. It holds the puzzle well, is white, I can move sections, and when I'm done I can use it to funnel pieces back into the box. Cost me less than $1.00 on clearance at Michael's. And this paper is more like a heavy cardstock, and is made by Strathmore.

    I use puzzle mat with inflatable tube, it's very light and easy to use. It also came with those foldable sorting trays, a carrying bag and a pump for easy inflating (I inflated it only once as I use it constantly). Works perfectly for me, as I need to always put away my unfinished puzzles, and I can store it vertically behind the curtain. The felt is nice and thick (I had the thinner mat earlier - it was way too grabbing on puzzle pieces and often left it's fiber on them).

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I do think the thickness of the felt really matters. So many comments like yours that the thinner felt just grabs onto the pieces. My thicker one is so much nicer as well. The inflatable tube is smart! Never saw one like that before.

    Sorry, but that was funny 😆. The tube is used to store your felt mat when you don’t use it, just like you would a rolled up map.
    It is not my favorite but it is practical for me to bring my puzzle with me to the cottage as is does not take too much room in the car. But when you unroll it you have to flatten it a bit. Not perfect.
    My favorite is my puzzle board with flaps to hide it and keep the cats from sleeping on it…I put the flaps under when I puzzle, I don’t use it all spread out, it takes too much space on the table.

    Hi Donnalouise, I have that 3000 piece grey felt mat and I liked it too. I know what you mean about the tubes as I have another where they are too large in diameter and hard to assemble and pull apart. I have a neoprene one that is black on one side and red on the other, so if the puzzle is dark you can use the lighter side. That one is nice. I also bought the black puzzle board - like you, I love those 2 sorting boards inside but like you said, that 1500 piece one is too big for on laps in bed and awkward to carry, very unwieldly. I also paid $109 AUD for it and don't use it much. I love the Sunix one you are showing but again it is quite expensive.

  • @Laserstormelpies
    @Laserstormelpies Před 7 měsíci +1

    I recently got a puzzle mat that came together with a puzzle. I used the puzzle, which was rather dark, to assemble it on top of the puzzle mat, which was rather dark - so uhh, that wasnt the best idea by the company, to make one that doesnt fit to the puzzle it came with. But what I noticed is that I would still prefer (by a lot) a ground beneath a jigsaw puzzle that is more... "slippy"? cause i like to slide around my sections as i often assemble them in front of me and not already where they belong, so i found that these puzzle mats slow down my puzzling by taking away my ability to quickly move sections around. What i use to build puzzles on are these older desk pads, not sure how to describe them in english, they would cover the entire [mouse + keyboard + section where your hands are] area and i have multiple of these, so i just lay those out on the ground, however many i need to fit the puzzle on, and thats usually the best for me.
    For the 18000 piece puzzle with magic bookshelves that ive done, i used the back side of a wardrobe that we threw away. The 4500 piece sections fit nicely on there and had enough room for pieces around them. It did however take up the entire space of the floor in my room, which was fine for the 3 or so months i spent on it. :D
    Regarding the LPG company name: I guess it just says "Lets Play Games", so they call themselves Lets Play Games and LPG Essentials is the company name they can be found under (since i assume looking up Lets Play Games is not gonna take you to the company but instead, i dunno, some youtube Lets Plays maybe :D).
    I mean, i dont know the company, but thats my assumption about whats happening there.

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I wonder if you mean like a neoprene mat - that would be good to puzzle on and the piece would be easy enough to move around. And you are so smart! I never even thought that LPG = Let's Play Games! Right over my head! That's a good assumption and probably what it means.

    • @Laserstormelpies
      @Laserstormelpies Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@fortheloveofpuzzles I looked up neoprene mats and I think they are not it, the ones I have can't be bent because the material is too solid for that. Probably just very plastic'y. If I need them I grab them from under the bed and if I'm done and un-assambled the puzzle I just slide them back under the bed again.
      I use their back side which is just black and looks kinda matt, where as on the other side there's a picture, one has like a beach, the other a dog, and there's some thin transparent plastic layer going above the images to protect them, but I don't puzzle on that side.
      One of these mats is large enough to fit the pieces of a 500 piece puzzle to spread out on. And I put 2 next to each other to make 1000 or 1500 piece puzzles on.

      I’m glad you haven’t had an issue with a puzzle slipping down the board. I wonder if that also depends on the backing on the puzzle. Perhaps mine was a smoother paper backing which didn’t help it stay in place. I do see the appeal to be able to fully close it up so pets can’t get to it. Is yours 1,000 pieces? It's nice and relaxing in the evenings when I'm chilling with the pups.

    I’m so sorry for laughing but my goodness I just laughed so hard… this is TOTALLY something I have done! I have a cheaper roll up with those cardboard tubes you have to stack together and I used it ONCE… never to be touched again. I can’t stand the feeling of puzzle pieces on felt… 😬 I like to be able to slide the pieces and move sections…
    I have a “stand n go puzzle easel” from Ravensburger that I LOVE it. easily can move it from room
    to room and perfect for puzzling in bed or sitting back on the couch! Only downside is they only make them in 1000 piece… highly recommend it though, and it’s cheap! I’ll have to checkout the Sunix mat… that might be a great option for bigger puzzles I do!

      I laughed my butt off rewatching it - so did my hubby so no need to be sorry. I'm such a clumsy monkey! I've not heard of the "stand n go puzzle easel" - I shall look it up.
