    Your videos are awesome! My 2013 Accord threw the CEL with a code of P2101 and I was in a panic thinking it would cost a small fortune to fix. Thanks to your videos and $15 for two cans of cleaner (Mass Air Flow Sensor and Throttle Body) my problem is solved. I followed your instructions and when I started up the car the idle was high, but after letting it idle for about 10 minutes is settled back to normal. Keep making the great videos - they are extremely helpful!

I had to remove the throttle body and then i tried the vacuum cleaner to suck it out but that didn't work and in the end i got it out using a length of wire coat hanger with some really sticky tape on the end.DON'T do what i did and use the pipe that fits on to the can.

    May I ask a question? If I don't remove the throttle body (TB), only plan to remove the airbox and clean the TB, do I still have to reset the TB? If yes, then why?
    The 09 Civic LX stopped when at idle. Originally I had a P0102 code. Cleaned the MAF sensor (MAF cleaner), no change, then replaced. No change. Idle got rougher and threw a code related to MAP sensor. I checked the pressure, seemed ok, but as already 12 yrs old, replaced (kept the old one). No change. If I spray carb cleaner anywhere, does not change, no leak it seems. STFT is like 40+, LTFT is 0. Lean... If I start the car, seems ok at idle, but it goes up and down a bit. If I push the gas pedal and rev up, when falls back, idle gets really rough at ~650 rpm and stalls sometimes. Checked and cleaned the EGR (no P4xx code though), measured resistances, engaging if 12 V applied. I run the car for 5 min at 3000 rpm, fan started, let it drop, but stopped. So learning idle, I think, is not the problem. I was thinking TB cleaning... After that, I might just take it to a real mechanic... Rough idle.
    No error code now.
    One more thing: I am not sure, but I might became worse when I cleaned the original MAF sensor.. I used MAF cleaner, waited maybe a min and put back. Also, sometimes I forgot to plug back the MAF cable when started the car. Also, did not disconnect battery when removed MAF , MAP or EGR cable... The car was OFF in all cases. Maybe I messed up the ECU?

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  Před 6 lety +4

      If you have idle problems, hesitation during acceleration, etc. I would clean it at 50k miles. This civic had 36k miles and it wasn't that dirty but cleaning it earlier doesn't hurt anything. Just make sure you reset the throttle position with a scantool after you clean the throttle body. I have a video coming out soon for the TP reset.

    Have to ask, what happens if you move the throttle plate while cleaning it? My sons car needs to be done and I'm sure its going to be filthy inside there. Can the throttle body be removed to do this? On my tercel, I had to remove the whole thing and scrub it with a soft brush and tb cleaner it was so filthy. Also, I couldn't tell, but did you fully start the car to open the throttle plate?

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  Před 6 lety +6

      If you move the throttle plate, it might mess up the internals of the throttle body. Best way to clean is to remove the throttle body but still open the throttle plate by using the car to open the throttle plate, don't manually open it. If you absolutely have to open it manually, then slowly open it. I did not start the car, you can't start it up, it won't run and you will probably create more problems. You need to turn on the ignition/accessories, NOT the engine.
