  • Dare to think Biblically about God's Will. Pastor Matt Chandler the Village Church will challenge your thinking; take a listen. Note: At the very end the recording gets cut off and this is what Pastor Matt says "you've got two choices when it comes to the word of God you can read it and wrestle through and submit to it or you can rail against it or there is a third you can be indifferent but where there's indifference to the revealed word of God, I've got some questions about the state of your heart... so wrestle on."
There is not a part two to this recording... ~Reed

The Most High does have 2 wills a permissive will and a perfect will. I like this 😄 The points made are good and scriptural. Our Creator can do whatever He please when He pleases how He pleases. He can overturn human will if He chooses. Infact when it came to Abraham's wife Sarah He did this twice. I love this about Our Creator😄 Matt goes deep. Thanks Matt pray you are continue in living an overcoming life. In these vile evil days we are living in. Many are falling away. These are the days we are warned in scripture would come.

Thomas I finally figured out why people keep asking for part two. The last sentence got clipped off: "you've got two choices when it comes to the word of God you can read it and wrestle through and submit to it or you can rail against it or there is a third you can be indifferent but where there's indifference to the revealed word of God I've got some questions about the state of your heart. so wrestle on."

Those who turn to God through Christ's atoning work on the cross for forgiveness will be/are saved. Have you done this? If so you are elect. You do not need to think of God as a deceiver when Scripture identifies Satan as the Deceiver. One should test to see that they are in the Spirit (Philippians 2:12), and in doing so walk in assurance that God finishes what He starts (Gal. 3:3, Philippians 1:6). Canonwired/Douglas Wilson has some great resources/sermons (google canonwired/search youtube).

Chandler is typically a bit too charismatic for my taste but always seems to be sound and gospel centered. This, however, is a diamond in the rough that I cant deny. Very on point expositions. Easily the best sermon I've heard in the past few months.

    Scripture is clear.
It is certainly God’s will that all be saved (1Tim2:4) and God will certainly accomplish ALL His will (Isa46:10/Eph1:11)
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but IN ORDER THAT the WORLD might be SAVED through him. - John 3:17
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to CONDEMNATION for ALL MEN, so one act of righteousness leads to JUSTIFICATION and LIFE for ALL MEN.
19 For as by the one man's disobedience THE MANY were MADE SINNERS, so by the one man's obedience THE MANY will be MADE RIGHTEOUS. - Romans 5:18-19

This is not a question an unelect person would ask, I think. God says out thoughts are not his and our ways not his ways. So for someone to even understand, ponder, and know God personally is chosen for adoption, I think.

Someone please help me cuz now Im wondering what if God choose to not rescue me from sin but rather He chose to deceive me for His glory. Which is great and that He is glorified but this would cause me to go to hell. You know, now I feel like people dont have much of a chose in life anymore and some people are just destined to go to Hell for God's glory and it could've been. Someone please clear this up. thanks

      Hi Adellina,
Wow, this has been so long ago and I don't know if you're even still here or not but the despair or vexing that you feel is the very purpose for understanding God's sovereignty. In one sense, the true and highest praise and awe in God cannot be achieved with any other understanding, but those others can only be detractions of it... and then you asked, "what if he has chosen not to rescue me but deceive me for His glory? The two poles are God's intention when this doctrine is rightly understood... and if it is not rightly understood, that is it's own indictment... or the path to a cathartic release and total submission and dependence on him. And that dependence, in it's purest form, can only be achieved through this understanding and none other! The one pole of elation and awe at you being chosen is just to give you utter most humility.. but to some, indeed, anyone, it can puff up - so then the other poll (of reprobation) is meant to strike utter fear, which is the other side of humility, because the only difference between you and a person who is not saved... is God! And you owe it all to him. - any other understanding gives the person some credit for why they're not going to hell..but going to heaven... and that is what the Bible totally refutes! Whenever someone rales in anger at this doctrine (as some have done in these posts already), that should be the gravest sign to you and even to them (though they don't see it) because that shows that they are siding with evil against God and the anger may look like its at a preacher or doctrine, but it's really in defense of sin and anger towards God, and that is the other pole that should strike total fear, but it doesn't (as is seen in this post). Instead it brings more resentment and anger to the person which is indication of their reprobation even though they're masquerading as Christians in this life -- and that is the indication of why the two poles are there (so now when you see people's outrage and anger at the doctrine - like are in these posts, it reveals what's really going on in them (though it's cloaked in outrage towards supposed "wrong belief". So if you fear your not chosen, simply ask God (even beg), because that really is the only way to be saved! Some might even read this and be outraged at the word "beg", but then, that would be a strong indication that they are reprobate, because in the end, if a person is Elect... begging God is a wonderful, amazing thing.. that you could even beg him, but most American Christians could not even fathom begging God as amazing, because of the luxury that we live in, and that is really just showing a sense of entitlement - which is further indication of reprobation. So it's very relieving to understand these two poles. And in the end, there is a resemblance to Free Will and choice from the outside, but that's not what's happening on the inside, because it's not just the whim of the "decider" when the Holy Spirit comes... it's a paradigm shift, which goes to the analogy of the Matrix - blue and red pill. And though that has an unfortunate reference to Hollywood, it's a pretty good picture of the epiphany. I am a majority of the way through a dissertation on this right now, so that's why I'm answering and hope this helps because it is the biggest dilemma to work through... which is why the scripture says "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling", and also, "the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom"
God bless and Soli Deo Gloria!
PS. There is a small booklet called the, "The Practical implications of Calvinism" by Albert Martin. You need to get it off of Amazon - it's only 30 pages., but it is devastating - to sin.. that is.

  • @reederang
    @reederang  Před 11 lety

Delleisha, I believe God is working in your soul because people who are not His don't care about sin and do not even believe in hell. It sounds like you are struggling with sin. It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict the sinner of sin. If you are feeling conviction that is one sign that the Holy Spirit is working to save you. Fall on Jesus the only Saviour there truly is. Cry out to him to save you. Then read the 1st John. I will be praying.

I can’t say I’m on either side. I’m not Calvinist or arminianist. And I think that what ever you are we both believe that we should be doing the same thing. Maybe for different motivations. But we believe either way that God told us to spread his name for his glory. And I do believe that both sides have there holes. And whatever side I choose to believe I can still say God is good and loves me. But one hole for me on Calvinism is this. Is God the author of sin? Why did he allow Adam and Eve to sin. For his glory?

Romans 9:22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory

And this isn’t only a question for calvinists. If you believe God is all powerful and all knowing, He had to have a reason for creating anyone that would sin.

if you actually read the Bible and learn you would see that this is GREAT misrepresentation of God the Father. I challenge you to read the book from cover to cover and finished thinking this is a Great Sermon. I really doubt Moses, Joshua, David, Isaiah, Daniel and Paul would be in agreement with the content of this Message.
