There is something so soothing about this theme song. Like The Waltons TV series theme song in the 70s. I wish there was a full version of it. I love it.

Stirs the soul, so simple and captivating...I too would love to hear a full CD

I LOVE, Love, love this tune! It sounds medieval; for some reason I think of Scarborough Fair. I wish I could buy this and the whole version.

Thanks for that, it's nice of them to take the time to reply, but disappointing they don't have a CD. Due to that, I hope he won't mind me keeping this up on CZcams.

Fantastic theme song! As others have commented, there doesn't seem to be a full version released so I've made an extended version - Enjoy! czcams.com/video/bXnwqhqI8HU/video.html

I dont think he will mind, he was great about my email to him, and told me to ask the company Shed Media, who I think must who hold the copyright...maybe if we can get a lot of people to email them as well, they may decide to release his music on cd.

  • @denruthgar

I wrote to Mark and he told me to write to shed media who sent me this reply:-
Many thanks for your email and your interest in Mark Sayer-Wade’s music, Unfortunately Mark’s music is not available for release on CD to the general public.
    Best regards
I was gutted as his music is wonderful, and all the music played during WDYTYA is great...why cant they do a CD?

It's a beautiful piece. It vaguely reminds me of Loreena Mckennit too, this is just a bit more modern.
Perhaps you'd like the song 'the old ways' or 'mummers dance' or 'bonny swans' or 'Banquet Hall."
All her songs are a bit more celtic than this though. But it kindof has the same harp-sounds. I don't know.
Edit: Now I think of it, they're great songs, but don't have the same vibe at all. Just the harp is similar.

Agreed, it has power of its own, only reinforced by what we know of the content of the series. But the variation on the theme that is the music for the Australian version of WDYTYA is even more moving...

  • @SehnsuchtYT
    @SehnsuchtYT  Před 12 lety +5

Mark Sayer-Wade composes it, I think the name is just "Who Do You Think You Are?".

USA : absolute crap, doesn't even hold a candle to this one
AUS : near as close to this one but with a aussie whistle flute tune

      Agree 100%.
The Aussie one goes like; 'Ohh hello there, we have an intro too. Tadadadahda-dahdah.....dramatic music...this is us, but wait...we're not British, we're Australian, just so you know....tadadadadaaaaahhhh tadah....."
The USA version goes like: 'Whoooooooooaaaaaoooooooooohh Oh look at us. We're people. People from the United States. Here's a literal picture of a guy with a gun. A literal picture of a canon. And a shot of the statue of liberty. Yeeeaaahh we love being American. Here's a shot of a road filled with cars. Whoooooohhhh whoooooOOOooooOoohhh. Whoooooooaaahhh and we have grandparents who's names we don't know, but we're AMERICAN WHAAAOOHHOOHHHHHHH OHHH OHHHHh Ohhhhhhhhhh..."
The British goes like; 'Helloooo there, this is us. We're wondering what past lies behind us. And we're going to try and find out. Lalalalala-la la.
Mysteries might unfold here, we don't know. Lalalalala-la la.
Dramatic stories. La-la. These are the stories... La-la.
...sorry it's 2 in the morning, my brain does these kindof things when I get tired.
I fully stand by it though.

I'd love to know the guitar tabs for this one, ......otherwise I will have to try and work them out for myself. It sounds like it is in a minor key so that's a start :-)
