    Wonder if the vapour cloud that came up in the engine intake during takeoff was due to water injection for thrust augmenting or was simple condensation of the air at low intake pressure ?

    • @Pandenhir
      @Pandenhir Před 8 lety +2

      No expert on this, but I would guess since having seen this every time, even during test runs, I would say condensation due to low pressure ;)

    • @planedudea380
      @planedudea380 Před 8 lety +1

      Water injection wouldn't be in the fan area, so yeah the low pressure in the inlet causes condensation

    • @ysfsim
      @ysfsim Před 8 lety +11

      you are indeed correct. The front end of a jet engine creates incredible low pressure because of the sucking power. If there is sufficient humidity in the air, you will see condensation

    • @ysfsim
      @ysfsim Před 8 lety +1

      water injection is not really used anymore as modern jet engines are way more powerful than they used to be. No need for the added weight of the extra water

    • @williegillie5712
      @williegillie5712 Před 6 lety +1

    I saw several birds on the green patches there. Apparently bird control is not working as well as it should. Considering how little surface is covered by lawn, I'm wondering why they don't just pave those areas, too. (Theories: 1) Money. - 2) Visual helpers? - On the other hand, they have different tarmac colors, and then they wouldn't have to mow the grass. 3) To allow water into the ground, although, again, there are other means for that.)
    That airport size is insane, seeing three planes queuing for takeoff on the same runway. Definitely a wholly different challenge for ATCs and pilots than on small airports.

  • @JorgeLopez-lw9zj
    @JorgeLopez-lw9zj Před 7 lety +2

    Such a heavy aircraft, Boeing should consider upgrading the 777 engines to a much larger ones, even though the ge90 and the Rolls-Royce's engines are very powerful, the airplane still looks like it is doing a lot of effort to lift all that heavy weight, the Airbus a340 is almost the same size and it utilizes four engines.
    The ge90 engines from General Electric new design are much larger however they reduced the size of the compressors. this will allow the aircraft to utilize less fuel, on the other hand, this change does not make much of a difference in terms of power

    • @bobbarker7733
      @bobbarker7733 Před 5 lety
