I bought this bow for my son when he was 14. He has won numerous bow comps and 2 state championships with it. Sat Matthew’s , Hoyt, bowtec and elite down numerous times . He is 16 now and still shooting it. Just changed strings and put a good fall away and good sights and you have a great bow

My 1st bow was a Bear whitetail 2.
Had it since 1989 or so.
    I still shoot it.
    I upgraded 2 a Cruiser G2 last season.
Man , it's night and day difference.
    I couldn't be happier.
Thanks for all the reviews and info Steven. It helped me out a lot choosing.
    Hope you are well.

Hey Stephen, I dunno. Yeah there’s tonnes of insane bows out there and that’s a good deal but I brought a 2021 PSE Stinger max, set it up properly and honestly I really don’t know what people want more than what that can deliver bar a few IBO fps numbers. Roller cable slides maybe and good strings and this thing will outshoot anything if the shooter can

The Alaskan is a pro shop only bow in the US, but I was able to mail order the same Bear Resurgence bow in RTH package. It is a great bow with forgiving specs, smooth draw, nice valley and hold, and good speed. I had 5 minor issues that were all easily correctable. 1. The fit between the riser hole and string stop was loose and can vibrate loose and if you overtighten the two grub screws, you risk crushing the carbon rod. I tightened the fit with layers of aluminum foil wrap around the rod and considered Blue Loctite on the screws, but so far the aluminum wrapping alone fixed it. 2. I corrected a right nock tear by shimming the cams with more shims on the left and a couple of right yoke twists (nothing extreme or unusual). Overall, very straight forward to tune and the hybrid cam yoke allows tuning of the top cam which generally needs more attention due to the cable torque angles. 3. I found a slight gap under the axle E-clips that I corrected by adding a thin 0.02 shim to the shim stack top and bottom to eliminate cam play. On some bows the E-clips can fling off and go missing, especially if they are damaged and loose fitting on the axles. To prevent this, I orient the open gap of each E-clip facing out so that the shot inertia will force the E-clip into the axle shaft rather than away. If the E-clip rotates with shooting, you can apply a dab of Blue Loctite. Oriented this way, an undamaged E-clip will never fling off with shooting. 4. To mitigate some mild after shot vibration I attached a pair of Limbstop stabilizer heads to the lower riser quiver mount hole, which worked great. A string leech helped calm some of the twang. 5. I and others have found the actual draw length to be 1/2" longer than the stated setting. My draw length is 28.5" but I set it to 28" setting (7 setting on the cams), rather than 28.5" (7.5 setting). The Alaskan riser is shared on the Resurgence, Resurgence LD, Adapt, and Legend XR. It is a great riser, fairly light, metal limb pockets, a recess for your thumb knuckle, and a comfortable 32" ata. I held an Adapt bow with the plastic grip that will fit this riser series, but it felt kinda fat and the bare riser grip is just fine. Once I confirmed cam timing, I pencil marked the cams at the cable crossings so I can check cam timing at brace, and the cam timing has remained stable. My Bear Resurgence/Alaskan is very accurate and pleasurable to shoot. I highly recommend it.

Hi Steve , just found your channel! I stand in an agreement hope for a speed recovery ! Also vey fair review , i shoot a Matthew’s V3X , but just bought the bear Alaskan, I like bows, way too much, my wife made me sell four of them in 2022…. That knocked me down to just three bows😂😂😂, I have a small thread of land in the southwest United States , but I can shoot out to 250 yards😂😂, but I don’t. Anyways, God speed on your recovery and straight shooting!

Welcome back mate. Great review, agree with your assessment. I have a mate in the US that swears by the Alaskan. He posted a short video of his groups in my Facebook group @ 90 yards. I was eyeing off either the Elite Enkore or the EVO NXT 35, I noticed you had one each in left hand.

I have an opportunity to buy a Bear Alaskan or a used Matthews Triax from my local shop. I've watched all your videos on this series and have heard some say that these new budget bows might be better than older flagships. Which one would you recommend? I really appreciate your input.

My input about this bow is that it is amazingly fast! The speed advertised is actually correct, Butttttt I had issues smacking my arm as well, no matter how I adjusted my grip it would still hit my arm, I’ve shot plenty of bows and this is the first one I’ve had that issue with. My only other issue is that the cams are massive! Axel to Axel is irrelevant when the cams stick out 3 extra inches on each side, the bow is extremely long and I have concerns that the cams sticking out so far will become a problem, the likelihood of damaging them is too high for me. I wanted to love this bow but it just missed the mark when it comes to design.

When I fletch my arrows , I clean the vane with nail polish remover then isopropyl alcohol, there is a film on the vanes from the manufacturer, I then clean the arrow with isopropyl alcohol as well, it’s a process , BUT! , all the vanes never separate from the arrows.

One more thing I use q tips on the vanes and cotton balls on the arrow.
