That's literally why I bought an iPhone 8 Product Red like 2 weeks ago. Had to trade it for a Galaxy S9 since I can't stand that how dumb Siri was 90% of the time. Not to mention ppl say 'it works better' despite me getting crashes on Kijiji and other various apps. I absolutely hated the stutter when scrolling through facebook/whatsapp etc that I never experienced on Pixel 2 phone which i gave to my dad

Well, actually IMO you actually get more Function, and more Style with high end androids. My S10e is much nicer looking than a crapple. Then you also get the ability to buy a cheaper "not so good looking phone" but still functionally better than a iPhone twice the price.

I like Googles UI and I feel like Google is more intelligent when it comes to routes and traffic and because it's always connected to Google, locating specific businesses is better. I've had IPhones since they came out, finally switched to android and it's works better and it's more customizable
I dunno, I don't think Apple's icons look better. I love material design! However, the problem I've had with Android is that Bluetooth music sucks (doesn't auto-play well and breaks up far more often) and battery life is just incomparable. Android is a battery killer compared to iOS.
ZacGaming depends on the phone. Spent a few days last week in Disney, my wife was on a portable charger by 3 every day with her X. I'd be in the mid to high 40's when I'd plug in at 11 that night with my Pixel 2XL. Basically same amount of use. Pixel 2 is insane with battery life.
That's good to hear. I'm looking at replacing my iPhone with a Pixel 2 XL now that I have a car that supports Android Auto. I find battery life is highly dependent on user and apps installed. I have a friend who had an iPhone who was constantly needing to charge mid-day. Meanwhile, mine tends to last me at least 48 hours before it gets below 30%. My primary use is music, camera and reading news.

I primarily use apple products but Carplay is clearly inferior. And Android is in many aspects better than ios. No problem with admitting that. To each his own. And as is the case for any popular tech and its supporters: Some are intolerable fanboys, some are decent folk.

The icons look so old school to me, and the Android UI is large and simplistic which is exactly what you need when operating a motor vehicle. Also if he would have just prefixed his address with "Navigate" or even "Nav" it should have fired him up into navigation mode quick and easy.

Thank you guys... it's exactly what am looking for. Heading to the dealer this weekend and test drive this Stelvio Ti sport. Most of the time, regular consumers don't have time to test their AA or Apple car playI let alone voice command. It's the real street busy drive and fly scenario. Proves that siri is a sorry help.
Personally, I think CarPlay looks bland and uninspired. They took too much of the phone interface and tried to translate it to a car interface, which has also led to poor UX design on top of UI.
Android Auto actually created a pretty car-friendly UX from the ground up (and I think the UI looks sharper as well). Five shortcuts (maybe even one too many). Access to maps, phone, audio. The smart suggestion cards are surprisingly helpful as well.
I know an Apple fan who is considering a burner Android phone just to use in his car for Android Auto because CarPlay is that inferior to him.

Never have I heard a valid reason to why Apple is better apart from "It looks better". There isn't a playing field anymore, the S8 has destroyed the field in looks and specs.
TenderGuitar because people love ready stuff, my 200$ android phone can do 90% of what an iPhone 10 can do, not in performance but in organizing your god damn life, you can access its files from pc or phone itself, you can root it( no need to unless you want to) and do pretty much a lot of things a real pc can do, what's the point of buying a 1000$ iPhone when you use it pretty much like a phone and nothing but that (not exactly nothing) but it's hardly felexible and you gotta buy expensive accessories because often only original ones work well... Ever told you about apple headphones stop working with Android phones? iPhones that brick chargers? Might not be believable but I've been through years as an apple user... Hardly something was possible beside gaming in it. Everything is strict, everything needs money (not talking about paid apps for free). Android is as capable as a computer and friendly to accessories and many stuff useful for people who are into business but nobody gives a fuck because they love shiny overpriced shit.
Yet again, I'm not saying that because I'm an Android fanboy or whatever but I had ALOT with both devices, android was always the more flexible device.

Lifelong apple user. Had every iPhone since the 3gs to the 6S plus and also little iPhone 7. finally decided to try out the Androids and so I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus honestly I am so glad I have finally made the change after years where I felt the Apple simply dominated all other Androids I can finally say that with Android nougat the roles have reversed. I like everything about my Samsung better hey. The screen, the form, the software. That's big as a really hardcore ex apple person

Android Auto is too much disturbing. Every now and than there are some notifications you shouldn't care about while you drive. Do we really need some image Apps while driving ? Or a browser ? Even Skype is useless while driving. Another Map - yes, would be cool. But it should be limited to essential functions. Thats what Android Auto doesn't do.
Er..I don't know which android auto that you use, Image app, browser, skype aren't usable in android auto unless you purposely bypass your phone screen into main screen of your PHONE to access those. Note that cap? Android auto by itself do not do what you said it does.

Lol I can so relate to this. I was an iPhone user for years and I got Apple Car Play with my last car but rarely used it because it was so frustrating. I recently switched to Android (Samsung Galaxy Note 8) and it's amazing how much more pleasant of an experience Android Auto is.

Same here, only on phone. Siri was useless 8 out of 10 times only most basic requests like whats the weather like worked every time. While on android i make reminders, set alarms, appointments, ask directions on foot or in car etc. And somehow google assistant feels more confidant it's not second guessing and asking like Siri ahhm uhmm did you mean this?
Absolutely. I didn't really think I would use Android Auto, but it is so seamless it is the best integration by a country mile.

TheIonited No one looks at their interior styling while driving the way they would have to focus on the UI of Car Play - which is as dangerous to use as a phone. If Car Play works as badly as in the video, it is too distracting to use and should not be allowed unless the driver is at a complete stop.

By more aesthetically pleasing Yuri means, he's more comfortable with the look of the Apple product. Which is the issue, being familiar with something doesn't mean it looks better, that's just an opinion. The clean interface in Android Auto is great, but then again that's just my opinion.

I have google pixel 2xl with kenwood 7704s and android auto. Works perfect in my garage on wifi. I leave the house and can't get internet on my phone 70 percent of time. If I disconnect the phone, the phone works fine with internet and reception. Any ideas Thanks

i’m been apple only since 2006. i bought a 2017 chevy silverado last month with apple carplay and android auto. the carplay stopped working and needed a driver update at the dealer. but the android auto was still working before the driver update was done..
just one more win for android there too, carplay stopped working after i updated to ios11

This is a pretty accurate video from my experience too, the Apple carplay may have a cleaner interface with the icons but Android Auto is just leagues better than Siri (Apple) in understanding what you're saying when you talk to it. Siri is just piss poor that it makes you wonder if it can even understand English

I've been an iPhone user since 1st gen, I've never used "Android Auto", but I still know it's better than CarPlay.
I hate CarPlay and I use Bluetooth to stream my music/calls instead because it's so obnoxiously bad.
Plus you can use Waze on Android auto, which is awesome.
I hated it so much that I thought about buying a new Galaxy just to use Waze in my car (plus I was just looking for an excuse to get a galaxy).
One more thing (totally off topic at this point) the reason I finally decided not to get a new Galaxy is because the iPhone 7 (even though it's older) still has a faster/better processor.
I feel like Apple is going the same direction it did when Jobs left back in the day, which is downhill. I miss wandering what kind of crazy stuff and awesome new technology they were going to put in the new generation hardware when it came out.
The processor speeds are not very noticeable unless you specifically need that much power. I have a friend who has an S8 and friend who has an iPhone 7. They both work pretty smooth and the in games the difference is unnoticeable.

Actually android voice recognition is amazing. Even Hindi or any other local Indian language it just recognises. Unlike apple which just sucks up to Americans. And I'm an apple user. Siri is just horrible. It's was a gimmick then it's pathetic now.

I have CarPlay in my car, and while I absolutely love it (especially with the latest version of Apple Maps, which has been a massive improvement), it's Siri's regular failure to correctly recognize voice commands that is my one gripe with it. I'm glad Android Auto is doing well in that regard - hopefully that will keep the pressure on Apple to improve Siri!

+brockjohnson100 I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, but I certainly had been using Google Maps for a long time and preferred it over Apple Maps. However, since I have had a CarPlay unit in my car, I've only used Apple Maps in the car, simply because Google Maps isn't supported in CarPlay. I was extremely annoyed by that, but I put up with it. Luckily with iOS 10.something there have been very drastic improvements in Apple Maps that have brought it much closer with Google Maps, if not on par in some areas. I'm happy about that, because now I finally have my good traffic info back and my options to avoid toll roads, and so forth. On the desktop I always still use Google Maps. Not sure why I need to "come on now", but I'm just happy that now we can all have driving directions in our car with real-time traffic information.
Frustratingly poor voice recognition is one of the primary reasons I only lasted a few months on an iPhone before going back to Android.

By the way, out of curiosity, why would anyone need more than 2Gb of ram on a phone? I mean... not even my iPhone which I use to stream from my DJI drone needs more than 2, do you really need that much ram to open whatsapp on your trashdroid? lol.

I recently used Android Auto in a rental car, and I absolutely loved it!!!!! It is so good for driving! I found Carplay to be rather lackluster and distracting while driving. Also, apple maps always sends drivers down the wrong way in one way streets, so apple maps is literally the death of drivers.
