A lot of people are asking about the fan noise... I am using about a dozen POE devices and consuming 45.7W out of the 250W limit. I ran the "AndroSensor" app and held my phone a couple of inches away from the switch and measured the ambient room sound level at 41.00 dB, then on start up it went up to about 59 dB. Then the sound level stepped down a couple of time before finally resting at about 51 dB.

hahaha I just ordered one of these, and then thought "oh I can't have that noisy thing running in my rack a few feet from me - I was praying it would throttle down after it booted, and it did :)

Omada (pronounced like the word armada) is a Greek word which means team. I don't really know if it's named after the Greek word but it makes sense as it's used to manage multiple devices. :)

I just got one of these for free. Looking to use it for a small home setup. I'm sure there are better options, but you can't beat free. All it's missing is the ears, but I don't have a rack anyway. It'll be sitting on a shelf or stand.

Is it possible to turn PoE for specific ports on or off? My old PoE+ switch has an option to do so, even something like failsafe - when the device does not respond to ping for specified amount of times, it will turn the power off and back on to reboot the device. I'd like to know if the TP-Link has similar feature.

Thank you for showing the webinterface in detail. I was wondering whether it was possible to see the CRC errors that occurred - to check whether there might be a problem with the cabling. Your video was the only one I found that actually clicked on the the statistics page at 30:38. There is a stat called alignment errors which according to google is at least repeated, possibly a subset of CRC errors. Probably enough to diagnose a bad cable.

Nope - you need a separate hardware or software controller to manage it.

Hi there. I know someone’s already asked the question about the fan noise. But just to be clear after initial turn on and the fans are on what appear to be full steam, do they actually quiet down some or do they stay like this all the time? I’ve just hooked this switch up and after a good 10 mins maybe more they’re still going fast and loud?
Any idea if they can be adjusted in the controller software?

I don't have the switch, but I assume that it doesn't provide or interact with passive power at all. If you are using a power injector (for passive PoE), it will probably disconnect the active PoE power contacts. I think you won't face any issues
