  • How does one learn to be a parent? You can read all you want, but when your child is born, no one can be totally prepared. What’s the balance of nature versus nurture? Watch the latest episode of Scott Baio’s Take On Life, and hear Scott liken parenting to being a doctor-you’re constantly practicing-while Mark Jones wonders why when you get older, your parents get smarter and George Saadi is happy to admit that his children are better people than him.

Daughters are naturally more emotional. Their father's approval means everything to them. When they're young, they really can't tell the difference between you being angry FOR them or you being angry AT them. Hang in there. She adores you. If she didn't, she wouldn't care about your reactions to things.

Daughters with great fathers absolutely hate to disappoint them. Any criticism is usually taken badly initially. They do always realize that they are loved beyond measure and both moms and dads want what’s best for them even if their approach isn’t ideal lol. It’s going to be ok ❤

Parenting is the hardest job you'll ever have. No matter what happens, remain supportive of your daughter & always provide encouragement. Don't criticize because it's the criticism that your daughter will always remember. If she plays well, fine. Point out the good aspects of her playing. If she plays badly, again, refer to the part of the game that she played well. "Honey, that shot you made on the 7th hole was amazing" is more encouraging & supportive than criticism or"you should have won". Focus on her strengths and keep telling her you love her and that you're so proud of her no matter what.

My Dad 👨 never cared about me he's just a man in a photograph 📸 he never cared about me! I hated myself because of it ❗️I thought their was something wrong 😕 with me and that's why he hated me! But it was my Mom's fault she never allowed me to have a relationship with my Dad's family, and she didn't care about how it made me feel ❗️😭

Awww Scott. Do not worry and don't forget she is in those teenage years....very difficult no matter how good of a parent you are. Bailey is growing up so fast seems it's hard to keep up. Just keep loving her as you do.

Females are sensitive. It is important to think before you speak. Or just give a hug and don’t say anything at all.
Pray and ask God to help you be more sensitive to your daughter. 😇
All of us get some of our parents character traits whether we like it or not….🤣

We're just from different times as older parents...to say, having a late in life child. My daughter will soon be 16..but I was born in 71...it was a very different time when we grew up compared to the last 15 years. In fact a whole lot of changes have happened in the last 3½ years. Kids now haven't the capacity to understand the world we came from..

Scott, as someone's daughter I can tell you, she won't be a copy of you. She looks like you yes but most likely she will be a mesh of both you and Renee. The best of both of you. Just do they best you can. You're raising her right. God is the only perfect parent and Adam & Eve still made mistakes. I still call my dad Daddy.

lol about Scott’s dad always being right, I joke about men always thinking they’re right or knowing everything,my dad says but the difference is he does know everything.
It’s inevitable we become some version of our parents but with their own identity.
We do the best we can with what we know.

Scott try not to beat yourself up too much! My daughter is so much like her Dad! He is the high strung one of us. My son who is also grown now is just like me. He is very laid back and doesn't get mad easily. I think kids are born the person that they are meant to be but they also learn things from us as parents that are really good things but also the bad behaviors. It is just in girls to be much more emotional.

More proof of how completely different men and women are. I don't have daughters, but I have nieces. From about... 10 or so up they believe all men are idiots, you're the butt of every joke? You're the enemy. Made worse by the mother. Daddy/uncle/etc... is a joke. And we try to fix problems it upsets them cause they don't want it fixed. We get upset for them, it upsets them cause they think you're upset at them cause they're emotional and you end up apologizing. It's frustrating as hell.
