THE SECOND VIDEO FROM DETROIT HIP- HOP PIONEER AWESOME DRE, MADE IT TO #6 TOP 25 HOT RAP SINGLES CHART IN BILLBOARD MAGAZINE. RELEASED ON PRIORITY RECORDS.
OH HE IS!, anyone that was graced with his words have never forgotten, I listened to him because i had an older brother and we always remember what was right and true in our lives especially the messages when we finally get grown enough to get it fully. He never got the mainstream attention he should have cause they dont want us smart or proud of ourselves!!!
Yeah I mean, I absolutely agree with you, and I've been into hip hop (not rap) since the early 80's, and I absolutely love Awesome Dre, but I bought his album because of the photograph on the sleeve, which is him with two guys kneeling on the floor with their hands behind their backs, with Dre pointing two automatic weapons at their head 🤔 Still one of my favourite albums though, but the whole album used samples from Scarface, talking about selling drugs and killing people. Brilliant album but it definitely didn't have a positive message 😂
I LOVED this song when I first heard it back in 1989 on 1580AM KDAY & saw the video on Yo MTV Raps!! I couldnt find the album here in LA at the time but I bought tbe maxi single cassette single with both versions! LOVE it!!
WOW!! Haven't saw the music video in 24 years and it was originally aired on Yo! MTV Raps from back in the day. A tight classic jam now on You Tube. Thanks 4 hookin' up your music video on You Tube. Peace.
Jumped on da Dexter bus when I was bout 11 went to musicland in Northland grabbed dat single when it dropped. I still have da cassette in my tape case I'm 44 today. Wow and look what radio has come to. Shout-out to da legend once again🙏💯
Damn, you just took me back, bro. Used to love strolling through Eastland, going to Belle Isle and of course Boblo Island. I'm old!....haha...those were the days though.
Yo!!! Awesome Dre I'm a HUGE fan... I'm geeking out right now because I remember meeting you (with a group of kids)when I was very young down at your relatives house (I don't remember if it was your mom or grandma, but it was a relative) on West side of Detroit (west grand Blvd and Woodrow Wilson) This was back in the early 90s. My Grandma had a house on Woodrow Wilson too! (Up the street from hitsville U.S.A.)You were very nice to use kids and very humble and here it is almost 30 yrs later.... I still remember that. I'm geeking out because I'm watching you and other lengdary Detroit rappers in this documentary talk about Detroit hip-hop narrated by Chuck D. I even remember when you went on tour with Chuck D, heck I even remember when you boldly diss my favorite rapper LL COOL J... still trying to figure out why you did that 😂😂😂 LMAO. Anyway... I'm just so excited to see that Detroit's hip-hop history(Detroit's TRUE hip-hop) is finally being told by the ones who actually lived it and that's what's up!!!!
The Real Awesome Dre 313 I bumped this in Louisiana in 89. Senior year in HS. Brother just moved to Southfield. Spent a lot of Time up there. Memories.

2023 and his songs are still strong and never will weaken.
I long for the days when rap had a message and made you think. Those of us who grew up in the 80's "we really knew what time it was".
Listen to Kendrick Lamar
Yeah I mean, I absolutely agree with you, and I've been into hip hop (not rap) since the early 80's, and I absolutely love Awesome Dre, but I bought his album because of the photograph on the sleeve, which is him with two guys kneeling on the floor with their hands behind their backs, with Dre pointing two automatic weapons at their head 🤔
