The man that introduces Di Caprio at the end is the real Jordan Belfort.
Yeah because that guy needs a break right?
Aunt Emma is played by Johanna Lumley a legendary British actress that has been famous since the 1960s
One of my favorite things about the Qualude scene is when he falls down the stairs. When he’s rolling it asks like it’s a full flight of stairs but after we can see it’s only like 5 steps 😂
Shanelle: "I don't know what 'T&A' is."
Me: Checks comment section.
"Trades & Acquisitions" of course!
It’s transport and entertainment. Costs you can expense to the company. T and E .
@@patinho5589the joke is that Donnie does say T&A instead of T&E.
@@AutoPilatewhat’s the joke?
@@gabrielleroux2333 Do you really not know what T & A stands for. Think strip club.
My mom worked as an account manager on Wall Street in the late 80s when she was in her 20s and has some pretty crazy stories that aren’t far off from some events in this movie. I remember one story where my mom said nobody could find her boss for like 3 days and she was sent to his penthouse to see what was going on. When she got there she found him completely strung out on blow and also found a Chanel purse in his fridge when she was getting water to sober him up. My mom has a lot more stories like that. She’s still an account manager for a different company and doesn’t work on Wall Street anymore, but she says that all the crazy parties and shenanigans were still going on into the early 2000s.
Fun Fact !!! Rocky Aoki the founder of Benihana is DJ Steve Aoki’s dad. Steve Aoki’s sister Devan played Suki in Two fast Two Furious
I bet they both got a lot of “Aoki Dokey” responses growing up.
30:32 - THAT'S the best part! _"Not a scratch on me or the car."_ 🤣
Fun Fact: That was a real Countach, not a replica. It was restored by the owner and later sold for over $1,000,000. 🤑
@@crazyman8472 😲
I graduated high school in '85. The 80's were pretty wild and chaotic. It has been called the decade of decadence due to the selfishness and rampant narcissism. Bright Lights, Big City and Wall Street are two more good examples of what was going on back then. Wild times!
The fact that this is significantly toned down from the real life story is the best part of it.
that's just sad and depressing. These people ruin entire economies.
@@Vendrix86 They don't run anything. They LEECH off of the entire economy. They do have an effect on it but it's all negative.
Maybe compared to the book, but overall HE told his own story, and if you trust Jordan Belfort to be an honest man about himself after seeing this, you're dumber than the poeple he scammed as they at least didn't know him.
Several former employees of his company said that although Jordan really held these daily inspirational speeches, he was often wasted and not nearly the charismatic leader that is being portraied in the movie - also no newspaper gave him the name Wolf of Wallstreet, he himself did. It's an entertaining story and movie but never trust a conman.
causti9744 I mean those people are also content and conwomen as well. With stories like this we'll never know 100% the truth
I saw a clip of Belfort after the film was made where he explained the "pen question". The answer isn't to "sell the pen", it's to ask the customer questions like "what kind of pen do you use now?" or "do you have a favorite color of pen?". Part of is figuring out if they really do want to buy, because why waste your time if they aren't serious, and the rest is getting the exact idea of what the person wants so you can tailor your product and pitch.
That was a real goldfish Jonah Hill put in his mouth. There were animal handlers present, and per guidlines he could only have it in his mouth for no more than 3 seconds, and obviously not swallow it.
(I know Shanelle reads it in the IMDB trivia in the end, but just for anyone who doesn't get to watch that part.)
Don't believe everything you -read- hear on the internet.
@@-.._.-_...-_.._-..__..._.-.-.- - Jonah Hill has told the story live, but whatever...
Its super gay that its illegal to eat a fish
Lol Jonah said he was mentally prepared to swallow the fish but he just had to spit it out. Also the fish peed in his mouth
Matthew McConaughey would routinely do the chest beating chant as a vocal warm-up before a scene. DeCaprio suggested they incorporate it into the actual scene.
A little more trivia for the film-that was Jordan Belfort at the end of the film doing a cameo also his cellmate Tommy Chong inspired the Wolf of Wall Street
Shanelle because you like movies like this I suggest the film "Blow". It's a true story based on George Jung (Played by Johnny Depp) Jung was a major drug smuggler in the 70's-80's. It is an amazing story and the music in the film is equally great.
Leo got an Oscar for the revenant when this exists???
Redemption
The guy who won that year shows up to thump his chest in Leo's face before disappearing 5 minutes later
Margot Robbie in this movie may be the most beautiful woman of all time.
Your opinion. Then again I'm a straight woman the way God intended for everyone.
And u r amazing @@summerrose8110
You've been hitting absolute home runs with these reactions! Keep up the excellent work!
2:50 - First time I saw a scene of this movie with him I thought that too (oh, it's Rob Reiner). Then, in the comments of these videos, everyone's all like: "No it's ". But no, as Obi-Wan Kenobi would say, your instinct serves you well! That IS in fact Rob Reiner.
Great reaction as always. You're fantastic, keep it up.
12:57 "I don't know what 'T & A' is..."
It's a song from "A Chorus Line" which you should see, but at the very least, google the song and it will explain the joke in the movie...
Great reaction Shanelle, like always. This movie stands as a testament to the storytelling power of cinema when it intersects with real-life events. Its basis in truth allows the audience to not only witness the extremes of human behavior but also to reflect on the broader implications and lessons that extend beyond the screen. And there are some fun facts about this movie, Jordan Belfort was inspired by Tommy Chong to write the book, of all the people to thank for the existence of The Wolf of Wall Street, actor and stoner icon Tommy Chong is the guy who ultimately made it happen. Chong served a jail sentence in the same Californian prison as Jordan Belfort and the two were cellmates. And according to Business Insider, Belfort told Chong stories from his career on Wall Street during their jail stay together and Chong encouraged him to collect those stories into a memoir- which became the basis for the movie. Before Martin Scorsese became interested in the project, in a interview a producer reported that Ridley Scott was interested in directing an adaptation of The Wolf of Wall Street with Brad Pitt playing Jordan Belfort. Leonardo DiCaprio had been desperate to play Jordan Belfort since reading his book, Jonah Hill took a pay cut for the opportunity to work with Martin Scorsese, On an episode of The Howard Stern Show, Jonah Hill says that he was so desperate to work with favorite director Martin Scorsece, also saying Goodfellas is his favorite movie and that he was willing to take a pay cut for the opportunity to work with him.
One of the most iconic scenes in this movie sees Matthew McConaughey’s character thumping his chest and humming, which wasn't in the script. In fact, it’s McConaughey’s own scene preparation ritual and he does it before every take. And according to McConaughey, Leonardo DiCaprio suggested including it in the movie and Scorsese decided to throw it in. Since this was just the second week of filming, DiCaprio claims it set the tone for the rest of the shoot. Whenever one of the characters in the movie snorts cocaine- which is almost as frequent an occurrence in the movie as someone dropping an f-bomb, the actors are actually snorting crushed-up B vitamins, Jonah Hill revealed that he contracted bronchitis from inhaling so much and had to be hospitalized. Most of the dialogues in the movie was improvised, the scene in which Jordan tries to get home from the country club as the Quaaludes set in was entirely improvised on the day. It was DiCaprio’s idea for Jordan to open the car door with his foot, though that had to be the only take, since he sprained his foot doing it. And in that scene where a female employee of his firm has her head shaved in front of hundreds of men hooting like animals so she might get $10,000 for a boob job. I watched that scene thinking, "They didn't fake this. This woman was absolutely shaved." And i later found out that her name is Natasha Newman Thomas. She's a Los Angeles-based stylist, and this beautiful women gave up her locks solely for the cinema. Keep up the good work.
The reason Margot likes doing this accent is because it's very easy for her to do being Australian according to an interview she did.
4:28 - I'm suddenly reminded of the comedy bit Jason Mews sometimes does on Kevin Smith's stand ups.
Love this!! More of these!!! Scorsese reactions are always amazing
14:31 - I *SO* knew you were gonna clock that accent when she showed up! Yeah, I "heah heh". I was so waiting for this moment! 😂
Very professional job, Shanelle 🎉🥂🍾
Well done 🎉 keep up the good work 👏🏼💯😌💐
Hey Shanelle! Loved your reaction to this! The Lamborghini and Ludes part was the best! Have you seen Shutter Island yet my Marin Scorsese? That's a good watch! ❤🤍💙💛
Ah yes for another episode of "soothing cadence vocal fry & pretty face"
wait you were watching one of my fav movies in the background the whole time lolol!
You're the best movie
I worked IT for a private investment firm for about 12 years 2008-2020. It was a small company of about 40 employees when I joined, and was about 220 employees when I left. They had a trade desk of about 20 people.
Yes the trade desk can get extremely loud with salty language during busy or frantic days.
Many of my fellow workers were traders during the time frame of this movie - and told me the trade desk scene was pretty accurate, but the debauchery scenes were much less over the top at their own firms (at least that is what they said).
One detail I think a lot of people miss is that, during the ludes seen where he is crawling out of the country club, it shows him falling down over a dozen stairs but in actuality, there are only 4 or 5 of them
This movie along with 2015's 'The Big Short' is when I first saw Margot Robbie. The thing that does not get emphasized frequently enough is how terrific an actress she is.
Great movie.I always love your reactions
Great reaction. Jonah Hill volunteered to only be paid scale because that is how much he wanted to work with Scorsese
That was a real goldfish he put in his mouth! They had an "animal handler" on set to make sure it was safe lmao.
top 20 film for me. I saw this when it came out in theaters with a group of friends. the 3+ hours flew by and was pretty popular amongst my age group (18 at the time)
Can't wait for this reaction! Gonna be hilarious
5:49 - I know! That's why I knew you'd get all giddy when that came up. 🤗
I’ve seen all of Scorsese’s films, and I personally rank it at #4. Arguably DiCaprio’s best performance to date. Some of the physical comedy in this movie and the shit he does with his body is insane. I had no idea Leo had that kind of athleticism and physical gift.
I remember those commercials
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
6:50 - Yeah, like The Last Supper! 🤣
Yes Shanelle RICCIO, we all knew you were from long island and had alot of family members named Rocco. In other BREAKING NEWS, I , Domenico Violi have more than 1 uncle Tony and i know who has the best cannolis in Philadelphia
Wait, you telling me there are spaghetts in Philly?! Well that just came outta left field! 😁
Great reaction...i recognize the dude next to leo in your thumbnail. Its like looking in a mirror. 😏
Always hilarious how much you and my former roommate look alike. East coast meets Chicago.😆
Love your insights as usual!
Wolf of Wall Street is a perfect example of why you need a director like Scorsese for projects like this. Anyone else would have kept reminding the audience that Belfort is a bad guy. Scorsese trusts the audience to figure that out and just wallows in the depravity.
The people who miss the point and idolize the bad guy will do that no matter what, just like with Fight Club.
Oh I'm only a min behind. That's a first for me. Hello from UK
2:24 - Like one of those old news reels, the sponsored kind.
I find it hard to believe you ate sushi after this excellent reaction, I think you had Beni Hana.😂
One of my all time favourite movies
8:06 - LOL, he got you good! 🤣🤣🤣
Is it wrong if I just skip to the end for Shanelle's trivia?.. ..(just kidding, I watch the whole thing)
love this one
The wedding dance scene to Bo Diddley’s Pretty Thing is my favorite part!!! I want to marry the choreographer for that dance! Also Bo Diddley is epic, add some to your playlists!
No one ever mentions that this movie was financed using stolen money from the citizens of Malaysia. Somehow that little piece of trivia never makes it to the light. Netflix has a good little documentary on it in an episode of Dirty Money.
I love this movie! "American-made" is also a good one to react to.
The honest trailer for this movie is really good.
The chest thumping was improvised by Matthew McConaughey. Leonardo DeCaprio looked at the Martin Scorsese and figured out to just go with it.
29:09 - Me too. That actually happened to me as a kid.
Scorsese has the reputation he has because of the many films he has made for the last few decades. Please react to Raging Bull for its photography, Taxi Driver because it's iconic, The color of Money because you seem to like Tom Cruise. Please read about Scorsese and learn about all the films that influenced him.
I love this movie
Hair is Bangin'
This movie gives me anxiety, but when I watch it I can't even look away.
Hey Shan
Fun fact! 12:02 This is Steve Buscemi’s only appearance in a Scorsese film.
Actually, Scorsese directed him in the pilot episode of Boardwalk Empire, which was created by the same guy who wrote this movie
That's right, which is why this is Steve Buscemi’s only appearance in a Scorsese film.@@kylewestlake982
The real jordan Belfort has said that real life was much more insane than the movie and yed the yhat scene was real insane as it is
5:45 that was the mother from HIMYM
This is one I haven't yet seen as it came out way after I stopped watching TV. Oddly enough we have the DVD laying around here, and since the days I watched movies on cable. But I've seen enough reactions to it to get me hyped up enough that I'll probably put it on tonight. 😊
[UPDATE]: I've now watched it all the way. 5/5 ⭐
18:35 - Ugh, there's no pleasing you, is there shan! 😆
the real Jordan introduces him at the end
Yes! You pay someone to transport it. A yacht that size would definitely require a full time crew anyways, and they're already getting paid, so they'd do whatever the owner wants within reason. Smaller boats, you could hire someone to deliver the boat to wherever you want to. Happens all the time, and that's how some people make a living. In some circumstances, they could even put your boat on a much larger cargo ship, which is expensive and slower, but sometimes makes more sense for whatever logistical reasons.
The goldfish actually did crap in his mouth too during the take. This is the one film where I recall at least 10 people walking out of the theater.
11:23 - Exactly.
Hi shan! Ah, what a wonderful morn...holy shit! Who posts at 1 p.m. at the crack of dawn?! Oh well, we're all here, let's check this out. 😁
Best reaction I’ve seen to TWOWS Shan! Your rags to riches…to rags take, is spot on ::chef’s kiss:: I’m not sure anyone of this generation (the generation of most reactors…as opposed to my generation, being 56)…could possibly get Raging Bull; but SR might be closest. Shan…some argued Scorsese made the best movie of the 70s, with Taxi Driver…90s, with Goodfellas…and 80s with Raging Bull.
17:22 - "Starting"?! 😂
8:43 - Well, I mean, he DID just say that! 😂
Thanks, Shanelle! 🏦 Mr. Scorsese knows how to tell a story, doesn't he?
The Italian version of the song Gloria predates the Laura Branigan version by three years.
quaaludes was most searched word on google when this movie released…
..2 french movies: "Amelie", and Intouchables"(2011)based on true story .. 2 fantastic gems and awarded movies! ...also, "Malena"(2000 italian) movie with Monica Belluci.. 3 gems!
You may know this but director Spike Jonze plays the guy at the low end firm that offers Leo a hummer if he sells $10,000 of the penny stock
the scene where Jonah Hill eats a goldfish was filmed with a real goldfish with animal handlers on set - he was allowed to keep it in his mouth for 3 seconds but obviously not allowed to swallow it / eat it due to animal cruelty laws
Wow
25:00 - I know, I said the same thing at that point in the movie! 🤣
Its not a flaw, Shanelle. You can do anything as long as you don't give up. Giving up is The Flaw to avoid.
Did you catch the cameo from the real Jordan Belfort in the final scene?? Ie intruding lio as him at the sales. conference. Great reaction as always 🙏
I have tried to explain what a low blood sugar is like for a Diabetic to friends and family. Leo's Quaalude scene at the Country Club is almost exactly it. Semi conscience, no motor control, memory blackouts and severe cognitive function lapses. If that is what ludes were like, skip them.
This flick was Scorsese saying “I haven’t had cocaine in 30 years, but I really, really, REALLY miss it.”
I always think back to the American Dad episode where if Scorsese quit drugs then Russia would have won the Cold War
Jonah hill was fantastic in “Wardogs.” I love that movie!
31:07 Yes... He's responsible for the MCU 😂😂😂
To think Leonard Dicaprio made his film debut in critters 3 and look at him now.
I have a new ring tone "No Bush No Bush"
so with the Jonah Hill paycut, Jonah said that he himself wanted to take the paycut just so he could have the opportunity to work with Scorsese if i’m not mistaken
I think you would really enjoy any of Scorsese's eclectic movies like After Hours or Hugo. Maybe him directing Tom Cruise and Paul Newman in the Color of Money (though this is a sequel and you would need to watch early 1960s Paul Newman in The Hustler first.)
I went to see this in theatre with my mom haha
fun fact...In the scene when the Character Kimmie starts Crying while Jordan is telling Her hardship story the Actress Stephanie Kurtzuba playing Kimmie provided her powerful Theater Acting skills in providing deep wells of sadness emotion (In Scene acting and not Off Scene) that afterwards Leo thanked Her for being there in person which helped gave him a hand in figuring out how to move Jordan's Character in that scene emotionally
19:33 - Well, I can *somewhat* vouch for that. I only heard Kayla speaking, a tiny little bit, and the audio sounded muffled so... 🤷♂
Makes money on commissions; buy or sell win or lose they get their rip!
35:41 Rocky Aoki, father of world famous DJ Steve & actress Devon!
I'd love to see you react to Layer Cake if you haven't seen that film yet!
