  • Ben from the Living Survival channel guest hosts this look at the Heavy Cover Titanium Canteen Kit. Made from the thickest titanium you will find in a outdoor bottle type kit, The Heavy Cover Ti Canteen might not be common man affordable, but it is top shelf. Not something everyone NEEDS, but for those that always want the best of the best of everything, this is as good as it gets for your "container" in your 5 C's.

    It would be nice if they had a third piece which would be the nesting stove fueled by small dead fallen branches.

And in your well balanced review you were clear to show, that one can indeed be served well with standard issue. So good on ya!!!!!!!!!! I will now check out your channel. All my best from southern Arizona. Stay well brother.......

    Thanks for the review. It is interesting how all metal canteens are being made again.
    During WW the US Military canteen was made of aluminum. By the way when i drew my TA-50 when I was in the US Army sometimes you got the canteen cup with the butterfly handles and others you got the older WW II style that was the flip over " L " shape.
    Not sure when the butterfly handles came out but it was the " L " shape design that was form the 1940s.
    Haha...not that it matters.
    I like the wide mouth on the Titanium canteen. Not ready to replace my trusty GI issue canteen yet. To my knowledge there never was a GI isssue canteen cup cover but i wish there was.

    So I have been thinking about picking one of these up for a while I pulled the trigger on it and it's great the only thing that is weird is there an internal lip that stops the last bit of water from coming out like the neck of the canteen comes down past it's shoulders by almost a centimetre you can feel it with you finger (by feeling the inside the bottleneck, the very bottom part) , does yours have that or is mine a lemon? Keep up the good work

    A good alternative would be a SS cup and lid. Swap out the plastic (I'm sure not BPA free) canteen for a metal one. If you have the money to spend on this - great. If you'll be out using this 40 weeks a year. Cool. Will I get it for a BOB? Not hardly. Just saying.

  • @jamescarmean2701
    @jamescarmean2701 Před 8 lety +1

    Wow, that price tag REALLY turns me off. I mean it does look great, but too attractive to be stolen in the field. Why not do the conversion of the 1.1 liter to the 1 quart volume for the military canteen or do them ALL in ounces. Just being picky, sorry . Those military canteens with those style handles were produced at least into the sixties (mine was 1966), maybe even later. I preferred the fold under single handle personally. I never saw the canteen cup lid while in the military for twelve years. I guess someone may have had them, lol. Good idea though. Good review anyway. Thanks.

    It looks like solid well thought out gear. Oh, the molle canteen pouch is also a carrying pouch with the top flap set up like in the vid but you pull the "Y" strap out of the top flap and fold the top flap into the pouch when you use it as a canteen carrier. (I'm ex military). Weight does matter! Hump a 50-60lb ruck 20+ miles a day and you will hate every unneeded ounce! Back in the day there was a GI aluminum canteen cup and we'd use it instead of the stainless one to save some weight. Those not concerned with weight must just pull their gear out of the trunk of their car while camping?? LOL! What happens when your vehicle is dead and you have 200 miles to go during a shtf? You'll be dumping heavy useless gear within 5 miles and realizing you chose poorly concerning your gear's weight and uses. Just saying.
    Hint-n-tip= GI 2qrt water bladder mashes flat in ruck while not in use and allows instant storage of additional clean water cheaply and lightly.
    Good video btw!

  • @manuelvazquez8758
    @manuelvazquez8758 Před 6 lety +1

    THAT IS NOT AN OLD MILITARY STYLE CANTEEN CUP. WE DID NOT HAVE BUTTERFLY HANDLES BACK THEN.

    • @rokymessiah8288
      @rokymessiah8288 Před 5 lety

      In 1974 the canteen cup was redesigned as part of the ALICE LC-1 equipment. The cup was produced in stainless steel with a flared upper edge similar to the corrosive resistant steel cup of 1942. However, instead of a single folding handle, the cup had two steel wire handles that open out for use, and fold flat against the side of the cup when placed in the canteen cover (the "butterfly handle" or "wing handle").

    • @robcook6120

      Paintball tips and tricks Never heard of that. Titanium has a higher melting point than Stainless steel by about 200C. SR71 was made specifically out of titanium due to extreme heat at operating speeds.

    • @Thereal111t

      True it may be overpriced, but it works damn well and is well thought out, especially that lid and the wide mouth.
      Weather it's worth the price is each person's decision to make, but it's a lot better than the expensive fancy gear some people buy that doesn't actually have a use.
      I just bought it cause there aren't really any decent canteens over here in Britain, other than surplus MoD crusader kit, the rest are cheap "US GI Style" stuff that leak. I just got a pay rise so thought since I'm paying shipping why not splash out.
