    This is GOLD! Thanks! YEARS AND YEARS of wanting to do this and finally!
    I actually tried it in 2 ways and both are fantastic:
    1-Using the plugins in the actual track in the Environment (prints the track with effect applied)
    2-Using the effects in AUX channels just to monitor the tracking, hence leaving the track pure.

    So, is this where you would set up a compressor on say, a vocal part, to keep the levels a little more consistent. Pre-compressed to the DAW. Right?

    Wow! Finally someone who actually knows what hes doing in logic. Thanks! So the point of channel strip objects is to control is for routing...Or record with your own FXs. ....Id like to know (and maybe youd think this is crazy) but Id like to record the same instrument once through two separate tracks (reason being I want independent tracks but one is miced and one is an amp sim and I want them separate to change throughout the mix)...Sure I could double the track or add it too bus (which Im unsure if I can use automation with a buss or not or if I should) but I want to hear it while Im recording. Im micing a Bad Cat drive with S-gear amp sim together...or Id like too and sure I can play them together but not record without putting it all on a bus which to me makes things more difficult when Im making drastic changes throughout the mix using Automation. Come to think about it I guess I could use automation with a bus (not sure ill have to try it) but Im not overdubbing. Im actually using a pitch shifter on the amp sim on certain parts ill bring it down or off via automation so I want to record it at the same time on separate tracks. Was wondering the best way. Thanks for the info...I subscribed. Yeah whats the proper way to record one guitar (without doubling it to another track after). on separate tracks using the same input or is there a way to use another input but I don't see how. Its not like Im micing both..Im micing one, and the other is to thicken up the tone on some parts using an amp sim overlay with a pitch shifter also with gain to thicken the tone on single note riffs. Not sure the best way to go about this or if its even possible. I can here them together but they don't record together obviously...Unless I use bus. I mean I can't split my guitar cable signal..not with what I have anyway. Any thoughts? Id love to hear it. Ill def. be listening to your stuff and sorry for the long post. Hope you have an answer for me without recording the same part twice. Been using logic for ten years or more whenever it was originally a german company before apple bought them out. Anyway..Im using S-gear plugins..SOme are nice. Probably kill it off when I switch from focus rite to UAD. Nonetheless..Id like to hear it while Im recording both somehow. Ive been overdubbing but rather not.

    I have an idea: put the vintage preamp/eq on the input before it is "printed".

    Hello,
    How can I control something with an external fader/knob and have it apply to every channel strip though not simultaneously?
    So it would be, THIS fader controls volume no matter which channel strip I am on and THIS knob controls panning no matter which channel strip I am on.
    Thanks!

  • @cbmtrx
    @cbmtrx Před 2 lety

    FYI: If you don't see the options to disable automatic management in Project > Audio, you have to enable advanced options in Logic's main Preferences > Advanced Tools. At first I was puzzled why I wasn't seeing this.

    I am having the very issue that you are pointing out here in the 3rd way to monitor inputs. I'm trying to help my daughter route the signal through 2 PreSonus, FireStudio Projects. I set everything up but I was getting no monitoring on the output, just as you have described? I'm not sure why though? This is a brand new software download. Is it really this difficult to set up? I have all of the input channels routed. Just not sure how to get that output? Thanks, Dave

    i have a question, one microphone is considered a mono signal cause its only one sound source, and in pro tools if i create a stereo track and put input 1+2 the micrphone will only be in one side of the stereo track Right or Left, but in logic in the stereo track it comes on both side Right & Left, why and how?

    • @guyincascade
      @guyincascade Před 4 lety

      Dogmonkey you have to change the output of the aux from stereo out to a bus, say Bus1, then on the audio track set the input to Bus1.
      So...
      Input on Aux set to interface
      Output of Aux set to Bus1
      Input of Audio Tack set to Bus1
      That being if Bus1 is available

      David Skerritt Absolutely. Create an Input channel strip and have all of your plugins/processing you want to use on that channel. Then route the input channel to an audio track and record in real time.

    What about audio from my microphone I’m not getting a signal in my Logic Pro X DAW from the UA Interface and for the life of me I can’t figure out why?
    Software?
    I just updated my Mac to the latest to see if that helps, not sure how to get the most recent software for UA?
    I’m using an SM7B and it’s not getting a signal on the channel 1 strip for audio and not outputting and I do have output and input settings under preferences in logic selected to use my UA Interface via thunderbolt connection and all it says is failed I’ve tried closing and re opening UA and Logic no dice please help someone?!! 😩

    I am making some research and I ended up watching this video - do you guys think through this Environment Window we could create something like the Cubase's Control Room? here's a video in case you are not familiar with it: czcams.com/video/u9uS1btVSgY/video.html
    I would love to have a "parallel master bus" so I could add the Sonarworks plugin on it. It is so annoying to use it direct on the master bus because you have to turn it off all the time when you need to record something or when you need to bounce some sounds in place so it would be interesting to have a master bus just for monitoring like in the Cubase's 'Control Room'.

      Dusan Roncevic Sorry you didn't get anything out of it. Signal flow is actually one of the most misunderstood parts of audio recording and many have found these lessons very valuable.

      Maybe many have found these lessons valuable because they have to master this feature, nothing disputable here. My point is that there is no need for this feature for most of us. We just want to record a few channels and mix everything together. It doesn't have to be rocket science. One could spend years figuring out Logic software. Often, what should be a simple task cannot be accomplished because one hasn't mastered all the intricacies of the software. Why do I have to spend so much time figuring this out? It is a waste of time, for what I want to accomplish here.

    • @aceyage
      @aceyage Před 8 lety +1

      +Dusan Roncevic I found the video very helpful. But I get what you're saying. A lot of things in Logic are great, but the routing and the whole environment feels like something from 1999. I wish they'd get rid of this complication and just make it very straightforward.
      Multi input effects are another thing that doesn't seem possible. Only stereo + side-chain.
