I think they really need to bring out that Bronx. That would be a great way to bring in the younger crowd. Especially if it has the same motor and spec as the pan america.

That would make too much sense, but not for Harley who has doubled down on trikes.

I live in NE Pa. Very humid and wet here. Rode my PA Special right up until Christmas Day. No rust or corrosion of any kind. I am suspicious of those claims being real. Rode it thru some heavy rain in the summer also.

@PeterAngles-ks9fp buy and ride what you like and I wont put it down.
If you hate HDs just say so.
I've owned and ridden Harleys for over 40 years and I know that your statement that "Harleys are trash" is based an ignorant hate of the brand and not on experience .
More than likely the corroding Pan Am you saw was ridden on the beach hence the corrosion.
I ride mine until the snow flies.
      Zero corrosion.
I have also owned and ridden , Hondas, Kaws, Beemers,Guzzis, Yamahas, and Ducatis.

Hey, you don’t owe anyone an apology. Life happens.
I agree that a 975 would be a hit. I bought the Tiger 900 because the Tiger 1200 was just too heavy for me off-road. Same with the Pan America right now, so a lighter one would probably be a great spot.

I'm not sure about the Pan America 975, it would want to be 200kg or 440lb, or I don't see the point of making it with a smaller engine. I have the Pan America 1250, it is fantastic, but if the 975 was not smaller and lighter, there is no point. The 1250 off road, just needs more restraint and not trying to use it as a trail bike, it is a big tourer and capable of dirt roads, but it is not a hard core trail bike. Regarding it weight, I've been riding a 1988 Lowrider that is 300kg or 660lb, so the Pan Am feels a lot lighter at 260kg or 572lb.

Harley is definitely missing out on the most popular segment in all of motorcycling. Spot on about weight. My Pan Am 1250S is about the same weight as my 2016 Sporty, but the Pan Am feels lighter.

I wish H-D the best with the Pan Am. After a year and a half I couldn't fight it any longer. I'm loving the KTM 890 Adventure that I replaced it with.
The power plant is amazing in the Pan Am and the frame, minus the placement of the side stand.
My one piece of advice to the MOCO is get the electrical gremlins under control and don't release this one until it is reliable.
I'm not a hater as people like to say, I gave the Pan Am one Hell of a long term shot. My dealership treated me great in buying it back and most of all...
I still love my Ultra Classic with the M8 power plant. I will pick up an Evo Sportster one of these days.
P.S. Maybe somewhere along your journey this year I can meet up with you and buy you lunch or dinner. I need to head back to Illinois this Summer to see friends & family our paths could cross.

Two totaly different riding experiences. Will be getting an EVO or early Twin Cam this Spring to round out the stable. Keep that Sporty. They dont make em like that anymore.

Wont lie, a lot if questions from a viewers perspective. But, you tube isn't life. My curiosities more lay within the uuum. How does one say this. The Coxx Effect. Kinda like the Butterfly effect. Only with Motorcycle styles. ;) if you don't see what I did there.
My opinion on the 975 is. Just like many ADV models. There is always a small medium and large. HD obviously wanted to release the large first. As its the bigger ticket item. 975 will be medium. And in a few years will release a small displacement one. To compete with "beginner" styles. Like the Himalayan for example.
Rome wasn't built in a day. And Harley needs to become the everyman motorcycle. Not just the 60 - 100k a year high end tradesman market.
IMO as a Honda rider. Imagine if HD made a version of the CT Trail 125 that not even Honda can keep on the showroom floor.
They have too many "sport cruiser" or variations of "cruiser tourers" . That when I look at them. They seem so damn similar. Like they are Frankensteins of each other.
I hate the front fender on the long in the tooth road king. But, actually love the look of the discontinue softail deluxe.. And actually the Softail slim too.
But, that's my rant for now. I like your research tho.

  • @FranBunnyFFXII
    @FranBunnyFFXII Před rokem

I'd LOVE a Pan Am base 1250 or 975 if it's wha tI think it's gonna be for a "Track" bike. A bike I can put some relatively slick tires on, and go and use all that Lean angle and TC and power on a Track. I love my Fat Boy to death, but I want a 2nd bike for a 2nd experience and one that can reasonably taken to a track without many modifications.
Versys650 is my top candidate for that but a PanAm is... a really hard bike to say no too for the same purpose.

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret  Před rokem

That’s the beauty of the Pan America 1250. It like a sport bike, that you can put bags on and go touring. That Rev Max is a screamer.

I mean no disrespect but these bikes are too dear and people spending a lot of money on one made cheap is not something I can let go.
I had an Africa Twin AS DCT 1100, on a 2020 , in 2022 I traded in for a BMW GS Adventure 1250,
My AT had 4500 miles on it and was immaculate.
On buying the GS I rode to a bike meet where I saw a HD Pan Am on a 2021 plate 12months old 4000 miles .
I couldn't believe it , all around the light was rusty bolts , the hardware all over the bike was rusty , the exhaust was very shabby , oddly one side of the bike looked worse than the other ??
I spoke to the owner and I could actually feel his loss and disappointment 😔
      Shameful build quality, unforgivable
