  • Bis zum Abzug 2008 waren die Anderson Baracks Dexheim Standort der 123rd Main Support Batalion (1. Panzerdivision) und 501st Military Intelligence Batalion (8. Infanteriedivision).

I was there in 1974-77. Remember torgenson and I were the star racer's when the race field was going. We had a blast racing those VW's. I screwed up by leaving, loved every minute that I was there. Still remember the rhine river bridge we done there. River rat's forever!!!!! Sgt. Schutie ( sorry if I spelled it wrong )Sgt. Brown, Sgt. Kahihikolo, the baumgardner's, the louden's, the Martinez's, etc., really miss you all. I was injured there, got squeezed between to M.A.B.'s by accident and now I'm suffering because they have no record of that incident and the V.A. will not give me 100% disability because I have no proof. I had to have emergency spinal surgery due to that in 2014 and now diagnosed as having spinal stenosis. Wish I knew where everyone was at so that I could get statement's from them as witnesses to that incident. Oh well, god bless you all if you're still around my friend's and be safe.

I think I remember you, as well as all the guys you mentioned. I was the PLL Clerk for E Company from Jan 1973 to April 1975. I worked with Velasco, Joss, Tucker, Ferreri, and Jack Richard (TAMMS clerk) down in the mechanics bay in the Motor Pool. I had my own parts office, as well as a parts trailer pulled by a 5-ton tractor. I think SFC Sylvester was our platoon leader and Cpt. Ryan was the CO when I ETS'd. SFC Steffan was also in our platoon. Depending upon when you were injured, and if there were any witnesses, you may be able to contact some of these guys on Facebook. If you went to the dispensary, it should be in your medical file, which you can send for free of charge. Some of these guys are also on the Echo Ribbon Unit page on www.military.com. I can be reached at ralphabos@gmail.com. Good luck.

I don't know if it was you but I did see someone get squeezed between two MAB's, I don't remember if it was in the field or the motor pool. Were you climbing the ladder when this took place and the MAB pulled out and the driver had the wheels cut to the right? I was there between 74 and 75. I also was behind McCoy (I think that was his name) when he ran into the back of another MAB. He had the windshield laying on top of him, lucky for him he didn't get hurt.

@@mokane54 it happened in the motor pool. I had just finished checking for oil leaks inside the compartment and did not realize that the MAB next to me was being pulled out for engine exchange. I climbed down the ladder and before I knew it the MAB started moving out but slid right trapping me in between my MAB and the one that was being pulled. The reason it slid was due to the break was still engaged. It took them 15 min. to figure out to pull out the MAB on the otherside out and then have someone slowly drive out my MAB with the wheels turned all the way toward the right. Luckily no bones were broken but my chest and back was sore for a few day's. It was after that I was assigned special duty at the tire @ battery shop in the motor pool. If you remember that then you was there when that accident happened.

I was married there 51 years ago, in the Chapel, by the German & American preachers! This must have been the place to get married, not Los Vegas, if you wand it to last! Got married in town, first, for the legality of the German Government! I didn’t want to get married anymore times! Still going strong @ 72! Airborne, All The Way! It was a Great Little Post!

SSG Howell is the Staff Sergeant that told me welcome to hell in 2003. Seen her name still on the door. lol can't believe after all the restoration work that the US government did before handing it over has turned into this. What a waste. If the Germans had half a brain they could have used the facility to house and screen Refugees coming into the country, but that would have made too much sense. That last unit was the worst unit I had ever seen in the Army. Discrimination and retaliation against fellow soldiers. I remember the girl who refused the Anthrax. Colonel on base was trying to Court Martial her. She said no because she had heart issue and they couldn't prove to her it wouldn't cause a life threatening problem. Anyone getting a medical discharge was treated like they were leaving the Army under bad conduct and stuck on every shitty job and detail. People were told to sign papers to say nothing was wrong with them and deploy which would have screwed them with the VA. The medical clinics on base were purposely destroying and loosing personnel medical files. This place did everything to destroy soldiers lives. They wanted you to lip off or fight back so they could try and court martial you knowing a bad conduct discharge would screw you for the rest of your life on every job application. IF YOUR KIDS THINK ABOUT SIGNING PAPERS REFUSE THEM. GO COMMISSIONED OFFICER OR GO HOME. Enlisted Recruiters are like bad car salesman. ROTC Scholarship or don't bother.
