No matter what Babymetal does, it's going to be epic.

The whole show was marking the end of the transition from Idol group sub-unit to independent metal band and Su's transformation from Jpop Idol to Metal Goddess.
This was basically the first act, making the offering of neck braces to the tune of Ave Maria and then the very obviously (no attempt to hide) lip-synced Night of 15 Mix of Headbanger. The next few songs had the Babybones on stage and the transition took place with the Kami Band coming on for the last 5 songs culminating in 'BABYMETAL Death' with Su finally giving up her human existence and life as an Idol and receiving the sacred neck brace to be reborn as a metal Goddess.
Oh, the dancers in the skeleton suits - they were 'Sister Bones'.

At Legend D, Legend Z, Legend 1997 (same as this video), Tokyo Dome, and Legend S.
Six times if you count both Legend S shows.

this is the resurrection of Sumetal. it was the beginning of the concert after the concert where Su was crucified.
I'm surprised you hadn't heard this before... But like you, I was conflicted at first too (headbanger is one on my fav Bm song too) and now I quite like this version as I'm as much into dance music (most of the genres) as I am into metal 😃

This isn’t the 16th, it’s her 15th. Same venue. But they obviously did not do the crucifixtion here.

Chris Harris I’ve been corrected. Always something new to learn and new videos to watch. I was going off the title of the video since it said 15 on it. I actually thought this was originally a fan made video putting the dubstep in and then I’m watching going “No wait, they REALLY did this”.

I think this Headbanger version is the only Babymetal live song I ever fast forwarded at the first listen. Couldn't take more than a minute or so of it. I just can't listen to this kind of music, gives me a headache. And I mean geniunely gives me a headache. But it definitely serves its purpose when watching the whole show.
From the start of the show, being an idol with this one here, to singing the cover of Tamashii no Rufuran, the end theme of the rebirth segment from the Neon Genesis Evangelion recap movie, then bringing out the Kami Band, to the original Headbanger, saving Moa & Yui's souls with Akatsuki and concluding in the crucifixion in Babymetal Death so she can be reborn as a Metal Godess. It's story wise probably one of the best music shows I've seen in my time.
In 2:45 you are asking what the hell is going on? While this is the beginning of Legend 1997 concert, it is also how Legend 1999 ended.
During the early days of BabyMetal concert, they like to make their concerts like a long continuations of performances . When how one concert ends, it will be how the next concerts begins.
This, in fact, was the first BABYMETAL video I've ever seen! And I thought: "Interesting... Let's see what else they have.". And the rest ist history...
But let me try to sort out your confusion a bit. This entire show ("Legend 1997) had an overall theme to it. It marks the transition of the girls from "mere" J-Pop idols to the metal band BABYMETAL. It starts showing the usual setting for idol shows without real musicians and with lipsynched singing to a backing track and ends with Suzuka Nakamoto being crucified and reborn as the metal queen SU-METAL we all love. And so the last song of this show was "BABYMETAL DEATH" performed in a very special way. You have a reaction video ten months ago...
P.S.: The backup dancers are the so-called "Sister Bones". They were used for some shows back then. Last time was during one of the Budokan-shows, I believe.

If you like it, you like it. Headbanger is my absolute favourite Babymetal song, or it might be Megitsune.
I really like this version. I know it's not most peoples preferred choice but it's different, and Su obviously liked it.

Not many people go and see the same band again the next night, if you just seen them why go again tomorrow!! Well if its a 3 night venue...the same song each night will performed differently than the night before at a BabyMetal concert.... best part of being a devise band with the best talented musicians ever!!
I like this version if for no other reason than Moa and Yui's dance moves, the stuff that has been added to the normal Headbangerrr routine.
As someone who didn't come from the metal world but rather the techno world before I because a Babymetal fan, I have no problem with remixes. Some of my favorite songs I have 7 or 8 different versions of.
I loved this version of Headbanger immediately. The original version took a little while to grow on me but now I love it too.
It's got good energy, I'm totally fine with it.
I come from an electronic rock background before metal, so I immediately loved this! It just works really well. Nothing beats original Headbanger, but I prefer this remix over some Babymetal songs.
it's okay neon, i kinda sorta like it too xD. i have it mixed in on my babymetal playlist next to the megitsune tekina remix and iine vega mix, but i still just listen to it once in a while.

The song is Schubert's "Ellen's dritter gesang" (Ellen's third song) from his Lady of the Lake sung in German. Yes, popularly known as "Ave Maria" but is not the same as the Latin prayer.
Just another example of their creativity and genius.. If that's released as a dance song its a huge hit too esp in the clubs.. It was fun and very well done!

I sorted out my confusion over this song by putting it on my phone and playing it just as audio - it's a totally banging Dubstep classic that Skrillex could only dream of making! This is the concert where they played Headbanger twice - this one at the start and the second one is where they arm Yui and Moa with smoke cannons. The concert ended with THAT version of Death.

It's an excellent remix. Ever since I heard Uki Uki Midnight I've wanted more BabyDubMetal. This satisfied an itch I never knew I needed.
This is an exellent opening for the show although original my favourite .
Love this for the energy, imaging this is just the start of the show . How hyped are you going to be. My favourite bit is the pose Yui and Moa do when they freeze like statues part way through the song exactly in time with each other . It justs looks so cool .

BABYMEtAL have made me like a lot of things that I had never cared for before. But this is very much on the edge. It's OK watching it being reacted to once a year, but I don't need more.
Get into the hardcore beats, nothing wrong with it! I grew up with both hardcore and metal in the early 90s, it's all good. Japan has well embraced the UK hardcore sound and given their own amazing take on the genre. I can imagine how metalheads might be confused, but as a hardcore raver Im happy to hear this. 😊

Any kind of purist will have problems with Babymetal, because their work is so diversified. What are they? Heavy Metal band? Pop idol group? Party dubbers? Glam rock balladiers? I don't know. What I do know is that I like them :)
I don't think the purists would be a problem. If they did, the FiXT bands would've already gotten it from them.
Not the most popular opinion in the community, but I really like this version (don't tell Loon, haha). They mix metal with all other genres, so why not dubstep as long as they do it this well? :)
I don't prefer it to the original Headbanger, but if I had heard the dubstep-version first, that might be a different story - both versions are amazing in my book :D
