Lovely haul, can’t wait to see you play with these in future videos 😄 I love that you don’t buy more than what you need, I see so many hauls that are totally insane. Your hauls are great and much more relatable 😅 definitely interested in what you think about acrylic gouache, I haven’t tried it myself. I have recently been trying gouache and loving it, so hope you test those in a video 😄💖

I love this so much!! I was so surprised by how cheap things were when I went to Japan! I somehow lucked out and went to Sekaido on a day when they had a 20% off sale!!! Thanks for sharing your haul!

You will love the sailor Fude pen for its amazing versatility and ink flow. It’s also so light weight for urban sketching. Inexpensive on Amazon too. I got two in order to have different inks. Thanks for sharing your haul 🫶🏼

@@KatieMoody I’ve used platinum carbon black ink because it’s waterproof so I can use watercolors on top. It’s a very rich, quality ink and the bottle last a long time. But it doesn’t have as many color choices at least not on Amazon. I recently tried a sample sized 3 pack of Pilot iroshizuku ink and the colors are so lovely! The ink is rich and smooth too. It’s also available on Amazon. I learned a lot about fountain pens and ink from Yoseka stationary videos. With the Pilot iroshizuku ink you can take a water pen and spread the ink to create the shading and color. I like monochromatic sketches so with such vibrate colors i think it creates a wonderful result. So far that’s all the inks I’ve tried. I have other on my wish list to try. But like you I don’t like to over buy art supplies until I use most of what I have. Have fun trying the Suailor fude pens! It’s great for urban/plein air sketching because it can get so many different sized lines. 😊
@@atcreateartworks This is sooo helpful, thank you so much! The pen comes with a couple of cartridges but I'm not sure if they'll be waterproof which is what I'd like! I've also been looking at getting the converter for it, but again would need to use waterproof ink! Thank you for all your help 🥰

I love Acryla Gouache and i bought the Sailor Fude Fountain pen from Amazon for urban sketching after watching Taria Dawson enthuse about it. l havent used it yet though, so again looking forward to hearing your thoughts😊
Oh and regarding the Kuretake Gansai individual pans, i did managed to buy some from Buddly Crafts for around £2.99 each, not quite sure how that compares with Japan but worth knowing if you ever run out before your next trip🌸

That price difference is amazing! You got a huge haul and real value for money. ❤️ Though over here the Talens sketchbooks are cheaper than what you paid in Japan, it's strange you can't get them cheaper in the UK as well. 🤔
I really want that Kuretake watercolour set. However, it's so expensive everywhere I've been able to find it! It looks like a perfect palette for me (landscape artist but with a hate for green & blue and love for pink & purple 😂) so I keep hoping I can catch it on sale somewhere.
Most surprising thing was the Amsterdam acrylic gouache. I didn't know it existed. However, I assume it's actually acrylic paint with matte properties like the Liquitex ones, but I'm excited to see your first impressions video!
Yes I'm not sure the sketchbook was a good choice 😆 I've had a look and it was around the same price as here so could have been worse! That Kuretake palette really is lovely, hopefully you'll be able to find it on sale soon - it sounds perfect if you love pink and purple too! 😄 I also had no idea Amsterdam did acrylic gouache! I'll be sure to compare it to the others I have in a future video to see what the difference is from their usual acrylic paint!

Wonderful things! MT brand are the ones who invented decorative washi tape and started it all. Their tape is high quality.
Holbein is amazing quality. I love their gouache and acrylic gouache. It’s one of the best acrylic gouaches you can get, no drying shift!
It was on our list to visit Kurashiki and visit their shop there but sadly we ran out of time! I've not tried the Holbein regular gouache but I'm very impressed with the acrylic one, I can tell their range is super high quality!
ha, i got the same kuretake palette but got it from amazon japan because i got sick and had to leave sekaido. great haul, its almost crazy seeing the difference in price of stuff like acrylgouache here.

Nice! I just bought that Holbein Acryla set of pastel colors, too. I had no idea the Gansai Tambi ones came in so many different colors. Thanks for sharing!

lovely demo, thoughtful choices, & ty for simplifying a distinction ii've been overwhelmed by: Journaling as one genre, & sketchbooking as another. lumping them together has felt confusing, some days paint, other days collage, in one book which is fine for a mind dump but not for developing an idea over time. Too many notebooks & none have been peaceful & ii couldn't put my finger on why the past 3 months feel uninspired...too much of anything became too much of everything, & you just helped me sort it out...duh...that's another really important part of community: simplifying communication, w_one's self, & w/others. Well done!! & yes, vicarious thrills sharing yr adventures. Ty.

You can get tombow glue pens from Jackson’s but maybe not the one you have. I have the bigger one of the two I found on their site and it’s really handy!
Aaah thank you, Kama! That's really good to know they sell similar on Jacksons too -- it feels much more precise than a chunky glue stick!

wow! what a great haul. I dream of going to Japan- I had no idea you were a stationery lover! I have 4 travelers notebooks- can't resist and each one serves a different purpose which is why they are so great! will be very interested to see your take on the acrylic paints- I bought few tubes to try but I am lazy and found the cleanup and the fact that you can't re-wet them too much for me- I do love the matte finish they create tho!

Wonderful things to remember Japan with. I love using my glass dip pens but the paper matters and the nibs are quite fragile. I recently invested in a Fude 55 pen and love the different weights of line it delivers. And I’d noticed that Jackson’s doesn’t carry all the colours I wanted too

Did you happen to notice the price of Holbein colored pencils while you were there? My daughter is heading to Japan in the fall and i am wondering if it is worth it to have her bring sime oencils back for me. What a fun haul you got, thanks for sharing!
Hi Christine! I'm not sure on the price of them I'm afraid but in general, all Holbein art supplies are much cheaper in Japan as they're a Japanese brand. I certainly noticed it with the gouache there so I'd imagine it's the best place to get them! If your daughter is heading there I reckon it's a good bet 😄

Wow you got amazing stuff! I wish i had a good stationery store near me in my little town in ohio lol but there's not even a travelers company partner in the midwest haha Great Haul! Could you by any chance tell me the brand or name of the letter sized paper pad around 10:10min mark? I saw this on another haul video and tried looking everywhere on the internet for it haha so any info would be amazing!

japan is really bad with environmental things. businesses will big note themselves for being ‘eco’ about some small things while ignoring major issues. eg. i started at a hotel with signs up everywhere about their eco plan, only doing room cleaning every second day yet their breakfast was rice balls, each wrapped in plastic and served on plastic plates
