More information for consumers is always good in my opinion but I think this app deserves more scrutiny than you’re applying here. When it comes to most chemical agents, the dose makes the poison. Many of the in vitro studies referenced by this app study chemicals in concentrations 100x or 1000x higher than their presence in consumer products. While these studies can *suggest* a possible effect of a chemical on our bodies, they do not provide enough evidence to assume a correlation to human health. These types of studies have been used for years to investigate a link between artificial sweeteners and cancer, but there is still no clear evidence that there is any carcinogenic effect in humans. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking a conservative approach to the kinds of foods you consume or products you apply to your body, but in reality I think there are other environmental exposures that have a much greater impact on our health such as air pollution, car exhaust, PFAS exposure, micro plastics, etc.
yuka is inaccurate unless you’re scanning food…. please stop this misinformation like your stuff in soap isn’t going to do bad things to you if you rinse it off, it’s telling you they’re bad in products you leave on which might make no sense but in yuka there are *only* 2 categories; food or beauty (like so more ppl can see) also you can swipe up on the scan result to see details… low results in food are mostly from the nutrition information that gets compared to something generic so look at the numbers yourself but more importantly the additives… or u can just read the label edit: some people mentioned the concentration and that’s true, something marked “hazardous” could be 0.0001% of the content plus the ratings are actually yukas opinion, they say it in the help page or something i forgot
Everything depends on the concentration. Take Sodium Lauryl Sulfate as an example. It can irritate skin and is even used in scientific studies as an irritator. But when you use it in very low concentrations (Less than 0.01%), it just becomes a cleansing agent! Companies use it because it's cheaper than some totally safe chemicals you'll have to add in a 10x amount. SLS is just way too good at the job, same with most others.
i might seem like a nerd right now but PLEASE READ ALL OF THEM (even the low risk ones) BEFORE JUDGEMENT yes, they're chemicals, but its always good to have knowledge about them and what they do its like food and cooking, sometimes an ingredient tastes unbelievably good after you've stopped judging its shape, or a really nice looking ingredient that tastes abhorrent i do agree though that those hazardous ones that are proven to be actually bad need to be removed, thats disgusting honestly

It's still better to be on the safe side, even IF it's a super low dose.

Can the long term exposure of minute doses adversely affect one?
@@gameratortylerstein56360.01% makes 1 usage of something with 1% in it every 100 days so probably not
It’s not always fully accurate and sometimes it’s not true but it’s useful

I wonder how bad products that are meant to be full-on health products are (e.g., toothpaste).
Absolutely true ❤

My favorite shampoo that I have used for years scores zero out of 100 with 3 of the worst scoring ingredients.
My body wash was 0/100 bruh 😅

all you need is the most generic soap. Real soap. Like a bar of soap with the sole purpose of cleaning mildly. who coined the term body wash, anyway?
Same bro mine was head and shoulders 😂
Thanks
Weird upload time, but anyway.
If it improves my skin or whatever it's supposed to do, I'll gladly take the chemicals icl
