Depending on the thickness of the clear coat spray, you might have issues with the buttons sticking
I always sand down the holes before I put the controller back together, helps with buttons not sticking
Is the clear coat even neeeded?
If so what should I use?
@@potatogym4980 it depends on the paint used,I usually put couple coats of clear coats ,wait couple days then wetsand it ,then polish it out
@@ReignofPain512 I’m using the Angelus paint
Sand your primer, guys. I did autobody for years, lots of experience painting. Something like this I'd just scuff the primer with scotch-brite and you gotta remember to clean it. In autobody we use a product called paint prep but you can use Windex or soapy water. If you're going to spray color on it sanding and cleaning is important.
How do I sand it? I've never done this
Hella dope idea. Love to see more tbh. Go nuts on old used controllers. Genius level 100 achieved.
This video inspired me a lot. I used to be a great great artist then stopped, so I want to see what I can create after years of not doing anything. I'm buying paints and everything right now lol
Amazing job Sophie your first time custom a game remote control this dope happy holiday
We are trying to just have fun with it! Our paint is used for controllers, murals, motorcycles, and so much more than just shoes.
Great job! Love the percentages on the screen! 👏
Glad you pointed that out. We will try to keep that consistent!
Bulldog adhesion primer is wise. Use 1500 grit WET sand paper. Dry will scratch. Let coats of clear flash for at least 30. Wet sand again, repeat accouple more times,.
Agreed and we missed that part of it with the needing "Wet" sandpaper. We will add it in the notes! Thanks for catching it.
@Nicholas Malovrh yes, most likely. I have always used Bulldog. Automotive stores carry that as well. Also in rattle-can. Allow for plenty of flash time. Always try new adventures on something that is a throw away item that isn't important.
@@veronicadeevers3246 Thank you! Going to do a custom LV controller. It's brand new...wish me luck haha
@@nickmalovrh213 Yikes! Best of luck. Make a video of it and share with us please.
@@veronicadeevers3246 Will do!
If you could create more "how to shadow with paint videos" that would be amazing please! 😊 I haven't tried shadowing yet because I'm not confident enough.
Loved it! Good job, nice presentation. Happy trials, Cheers!
Thank you!
C'est très satisfaisant !
Sweet custom Xbox controller Angelus!!!!
i made that design on my xbox controller when I was I kid and still into customising controllers, twas a fun part of life
Share some photos with us if you still have it!!
Very dope
If you put a layer of white first, and then put another color on it, do it like this, it will be brittle or strong.
Awesome!! I'm about to paint an acrylic frame, this was the perfect intro!! So if i have Too Hard, I can do without the primer? Thanks for the inspiration!!
Correct! however if this is just for a frame that will be hung and really not touched, you can forgo both.
@@AngelusBrand It will be used as a coaster, so it will be handled.
I want to attempt to recreate the Phantom Xbox One controllers. If I chose a clear plastic faceplate to paint should I still sand it down? Also, is it okay to not apply primer? I plan to paint some solid color on half and leave the rest clear, I'm not sure how to approach it.
Hey loved the controller and video.. was this inspired by Homer and the Simpson?
Do you advise priming in between painted coats?
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can you be more specific to supplies used here? Like the exact primer and finish spray brand?
Do I do wet sandpaper for priming too?
These are awesome! I am using the 2-hard right now on Air Force 1 soles, experimenting with the results. Does anyone have a magic suggestion on the best product to use for keeping custom shoes forever sealed(no future maintenance on soles needed)
Painting the soles is not recommended for shoes that aren’t going to be display pieces because no matter what you do, the paint will inevitably crack and peel off. There’s no true way to adhere paint to the rubber material unfortunately): For the leather parts of the shoe, good prepping and a few thin layers of 4-coat will do the trick!
We never suggest painting hard rubber soles. If painting rubber was easy you would see custom cars running around with bright colored tires all over the place. Rubber just does not have paint adhere to it at all.
What primer would you suggest for controller plastic?
Dupli color adhesion promoter I’d say
delicious 😋
on my red xbox controller, two lines fell on the floor after it slipped from my hand. Is there a way to fix the damaged part because it is the first controller I have ever bought. I mean, can I paint that part or change the frame of the controller?
Was this the same Sophie on instant influencer? I was rooting for her the whole time.
Correct! she is. She has been around a while. We really appreciate her work.
what paints did you use?
Hey do you want to see what I did with your paints especially the Neons
I wanna make this on my Xbox controller, but with airbrush but I'm wondering do I have to use 2-hard and 2-thin mixed with the paint? 🤔 Since 2 hard is used for hard surfaces and 2 thin to make the paint more liquid for the airbrush :'v
You can just use the 2-Hard within the paint.
Ive been using angelus varnish on hard surfaces all this time. Hmm is it not recommended?
It depends on the surface. This surface is rubbed so much our customer who do controllers for a living suggested to have it coated with a clear coat on top. Especially on a really hard plastic like this. We have had people do less prep and post work and have it turn out fine but we like to overkill in case.
Will the paint scratch or come off over time from sweaty hands?
It shouldn't. Maybe clean the controller often.
What clear coat brand and sealer do you recommend?
Totally up to you and what type of sheen you like.
Is the the 2 hard even necessary? If the paint cures properly and we add the clear this should help avoid chipping right?
Yes! The 2-hard is necessary, the surface is plastic so the 2-hard helps to paint to be durable in this type of material
@@xvxcarmona8990 isnt the primer applied to make the paint hold therefore bypassing any issue w the paint and the plastic might have orinally have?
@@norbzlopez7819 Hey actually no the 2-hard isn't 100% necessary. We just like to go over board if necessary. Some people do not even use primer or an adhesion promoter and it works great. We just like to go overboard so there is no question that it worked or not.
What grit sand paper do you recommend?
Wet 1500-2000 for fixing blemishes.
Hey Sophie do u have a website where Ican purchase some stencils from
Hit up her IG. I believe she does.
Yes I’ll order a bakers dozen please 🧑🍳 🍩 🎮
Look at this person with 13 friends to play with 😭
id like to try this myself, i know this is stupid to ask but what kind of paint are yea using to color the controler? sorry i just want to be able to do this the right way is all
Hi there! She is using "Angelus Brand". We have many videos to help you along the way!
@@AngelusBrand i checked out your site, it a lot of it reffers to leather products so they can be used on plastic as well?
I wonder how long the paint job lasted. Anyone tried it yet?
What's the name of the spray you are using as clear coat? 🤔
Sorry, we cannot see the name of that brand.
What clear coat do y’all use
We have a few choices form Flat to Matte to Satin or High Gloss!
How do you get the paint to look so smooth n flat 😮💨
Usually after 3-5 thin layers, the paint self levels nicely.
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Where do you get this kind of paint?
Try www.angelusdirect.com
Does the paint wear off over time? How has this help up ?
As with anything painted, wear and tear can play a part. It really depends on the user.
Hi, love your work. Would you be interested painting my remote control surfboard?
Guitar pic to detach side panels or debit card
Good advice!
I would never be able to do this
Never say never!!
😇🥰😇
What kind of paint is this?
Angelus Brand Paints. 😁
smh at artists not knowing basic color theory. this would look so much better if you wouldn't have used grey for shading!
Everyone starts somewhere. That really wasn’t serious enough for you to be upset enough to comment
@@dalylahpatrick2170 maybe I could've wrote it a little nicer (tried to be constructive), and I apologize if it came out rude, but if it's on angelus channel I assume it's not a starting artist, and if it's a tutorial - like this - then it's important for people to see this comment and do their own research
Hey we feature quite a bit of different artists on here who all have their ways of doing it. That is the fun part about art there are 100s of ways to attack something.
