I've only played 2 Dragon Quest games: VIII and this and they both had moments that I absolutely loved and felt the most emotion. For VIII, it was when for a brief moment the magical spring made Madea human again and watching Trode hold back tears that his daughter is back to her normal self again, despite it being temporary. For XI, it was this. The pain and relief in Rab's voice as he mourns his daughter and son-in-law and yet he still has his grandson. His family's not entirely gone like he must've thought all those years.
Man. I remember always wanting to have Rab and Jade put in the same party since Jade and the Luminary may as well have been siblings. Not to mention Rab literally being the Luminary's grandfather

Those are my main 2 Dragon Quest games as well.
Such an amazing plot twist and the ONLY time i've ever cried to a game's story, rab was a top tier character fr
I definitely cried when I got to this scene, man the feels were strong
Def one of the top emotional scenes with the butterflies, litteraly it was a mass genocide and thousands died and their souls were finnaly free
Thank you so much, I played through this last night. But I was half asleep.
