    Bolt the seat to the aluminum angles and use velcro tape to mount angle to kayak. This allows seat to be secure and easy on off removal

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      That's what I did in the video I showed how I did that. I sure it with velcro wraps. It's super fast. Although I haven't been able to take it out it won't stop raining and the wind won't stop blowing in louisiana been steady for three months. Until the weather straights up for a good week or longer where I can go out every day and play around on it I guess it will just sit.

    • @jeffreyulery2182
      @jeffreyulery2182 Před 3 lety

      @@RollingCajunOutdoors no I meant fasten the angle to the kayak with velcro tape. You fastened the seat to the angle with it. I said to drill a hole and put a bolt thru seat tube and angle.

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      @@jeffreyulery2182 Yeah that would work too but the angle isn't really in the wall even if you wanted to flip the kayak upside down and put it on a rack the angel wouldn't scrap anything. Both angels are far away from the edge. I think the angle iron bolted down is a more secure way it seems like it would be more stable. Especially since the angle only touches about 1 inch or so on each side you'd have a very small piece of velcro holding each corner.

    • @jeffreyulery2182
      @jeffreyulery2182 Před 3 lety

      @@RollingCajunOutdoors the velcro tape is only there to keep the seat from sliding. Your weight will keep it down. When your not using the yak you would easily be able to pull it apart and the angles would just stay with the seat.

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      @@jeffreyulery2182 Yeah but if you have the entire thing on with velcro and you flip over guess where that seat is going? It's coming with you because your body will rip it off that velcro as you are falling down and then you lose your seat. The way I set it up that can never happen unless you some how snap the velcro ties that hold the chair to the angle which shouldn't ever happen flipping over.

    Great video! I have the same kayak. Biggest issue I've found is water easily splashes in at the front when going over waves then pools in the cup holder / side compartments

      When I had it didn’t like going out in any kind of wind since new to kayak I only took it out on really calm days. So I didn’t get to experience that but it makes sense

  • @toddolatheks.1328
    @toddolatheks.1328 Před rokem

    You should put the rubber grommet on the plastic, so put the rubber underneath the metal cause it’ll leak underneath the bar you screw through!

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před rokem

      The tiny amount of water that could possible go through such a tight small hole is completely minimal compared to the waves etc that will find their way inside the hull no matter what I always have a little water in the hill after a good trip out. There are a lot of different screws attaching all the stuff to the hull that can leak as well. It's hard to make them completely waterproof. I guess every little bit helps though

    Man that was the simplest mod I’ve. Very good! I’ve been looking around for ideas and everyone else seem to be going for the most complex mods. Thanks for posting this!

  • @dotco5210
    @dotco5210 Před 3 lety

    I have the exact kayak and when I did my seat mod i used angle iron with the holes in it and I just basically zip tied the chair into the angle iron pieces and used a bungee cord round that back bar of the chair and I hooked them into the little eyelids for the rod holder which makes it easy to unhook and lift the whole chair and angle iron pieces right out of the boat this way I did not have to drill anything permanently to the boat it actually worked out perfectly no need to remove the angle iron pieces from the seat ever just unhook the bungees and lift it all out.

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      oh okay I see what you mean you made it so the whole angle and all can be lifted. I've taken it out 4 times and the seat hasn't moved on me once it stays right where I strap at it. So far so good. If it end up having issues with the seat moving I'll probably do something like that.

    Highly recommend screwing the seat to the bars or it’ll scoot to the left and right, making the balance off.
    I did this, I just set my seat w bars on top of the front rail behind the track. And the rear bar above the rear tracks. No probs.

  • @shanegordon1636
    @shanegordon1636 Před 3 lety

    You could screw angle iron on either side of the seat from front to back on the existing angle iron to stop it from sliding.

      yeah I thought about doing that too but I have taken it out twice already and no sliding I didn't have any issues but the water was really calm. I'll be editing those and getting those videos up soon of my first two trips on the kayak was a fucking blast!

    It’s easy to see when someone hasn’t really been working around things like this lol so yea the screws have rubber washers on them but it doesn’t do anything for between the aluminum and the boat itself lol

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 2 lety

      that really doesn't matter when tightened down tight like I did there is no way it will leak between the plastic and the aluminum. They are both flat surfaces so it definitely has a seal. The kayak is stored outside in the weather gets rained on every time it rains and it still hasn't leaked after all this time. It's safe to say the seal is just fine between the bracket and the hull.

    Congrats on the new toy! A couple of things ya may want to consider would be to use stainless steel screws just because of the saltwater and the second thing would be to put a nut driver in with your tackle just in case you get into some rough waters and you want a lower center of gravity. Beautiful yak and I know you will be loving it for years to come!

    • @RollingCajunOutdoors
      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 3 lety +1

      I've actually already thought about the rough water and honestly I never leave the house unless I know what the wind is doing. I won't be out in any rough water if I know some wind over 5mph is coming I'll just leave and go home. I don't even like being out on the water in a boat when the wind is crazy. I prefer to fish when it's calm. It's a really stable yak people stand on it and fish so even with a raised seat I think it would hand some rough water anyways but that is a good idea. I was going to use stainless but I couldn't find any rubber washers to fit them. These had the washers already so I went with those. I did want stainless just had an issue getting the washers I wanted separate from the screws. I will probably change them out in the future though and put stainless because I do plan on doing some saltwater fishing.

      @RollingCajunOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      If the screw is tight enough it should create a seal between the plastic and the metal but it wouldn't hurt to put it there

    Hello this was a great video you put together. I really enjoyed watching you doing that. I really need to do the same thing to mine. It's not easy for me to getting my fat 300 pounds out of the seat that low. I like how simple and easy it is to rise the seat up 5 inches. I just found your Channel Today and this was a good video. I also would like to say I like how you did this project and your flip flops. I am a huge fan of flip-flop because i have big very very wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE wide with very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My foot out grow shoes , socks , and boots 33 years ago leaving me barefooted 👣 Style so this is why I'm now a huge fan of flip flops which barely and I mean barely will fit on my foot because my toes are Wider than the flip flops straps. There are some days where I cannot get my flip-flops on my feet & i have to go barefooted 👣 for the day. It really really sucks having a huge extremely wide foot with very fat wide toes that are equally straight across that they don't make a wide enough shoe for. They have caused so much embarrassment that it's not funny. Again thank you for your video I really enjoy watching it. Look forward to the rest of your videos. Happy Father's Day to you.

      haha I love flip flops I use them all year round. Even most of the time during the winter I got them on even if my feet are cold. I'm just a flip flop man it has to be super cold for me to bother putting on shoes. I have to buy a new set of flip flops every few months because I wear them out since it's all I wear. I appreciate your support this was a super easy project. I also just did a rudder mod and today I finally finished the trolling motor mod which will be live sometime next week. All in all this is my first kayak and I'm already going nuts with it so the fishing is going to be awesome soon!

      @@RollingCajunOutdoors man that is awesome to hear. We are the same when it comes to flip-flops. It's the only Footwear that will barely fit me so I am forced to wear these in the winter time to when it's in the 20/30 degrees outside I am in flip-flops. Same thing I have to constantly buy flip-flops but I can only buy certain kinds of flip flops because they don't sell them in sizes 15 alot. Which really sucks on me. I also love flip flops Because they keep your feet cool and with me having very very fat wide toes they stay warm a lot and I can't stand hot sweaty feet. I guess that's because I'm a fat boy I guess. I'm doing a lot of kayaking to try to help me lose weight. "LOL" that's awesome man I'm going to check out those videos. You will be able to get out and explore a lot on the kayak. My family ( wife , 5 boys , and granddaughter ) & her co-worker and family is taking me out right now on a kayak camping trip for Father's Day. We are kayaking 24 to 30 miles on the river. I'm having such a blast between kayaking and doing a little bit of fishing it is awesome man you going to have to try this you will love it. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the videos. Happy Father's Day to you.
