Thanks for good vlog. V apt as picked up our van yesterday after first Hab check. Dealer had It for a couple of weeks as Manufacturer insisted dealer get what I am told is new carbon monoxide testing kit, blue tooth case put in van for few hours with doors / windows shut and oven / gas running. Passed importantly as we and kids sleeping in there ! Needed some warranty fixes done like internal window seals come loose. Looking forward to winter run outs now. 🥶
You can't be too careful with these things and although as I said it's not a legal requirement you can't put a price on the safety of your family, Thanks for the comment. 👍
Hi Ian. Really good informative vlog on hab checks. Not sure, but guess it would be the same for campervans/motorhomes as it is with caravans, annual service and hab check are essential if you have a new vehicle in respect of the manufacturer's warranty. No hab check or service within the specified time frame could mean that any warranty claim for work could be declined. Would also suspect that the vehicle's insurer would also expect annual service and hab check schedules to be complied with, or any issue arising in a claim might become a problem if insurer decided to be fussy about things - as if they would ! The safety check is only as good as the person doing it....and believe me there is a lot of cowboy's out there... your right make sure they are affiliated...
Just got my CV60 habitation check done last week for £170 so looks like I got a bargain. Given copy of all checks done and Elddis service department updated to cover warranty.

I know it's not a legal requirement but as I said your insurance might insist on it once a year and if the vehicle is still under warranty you may have to get the habitation check done to keep the warranty valid. You should check with your insurance company and your dealer....just to be sure. Everything I say is only my interpretation of what I read so I would always do my own checks just to be sure. Like you say...it can get expensive. 👍
