You are so right about tip 10. I started gaining weight and losing muscle tone after I turned 60 and was embarrassed to wear shorts and short sleeve/sleeveless tops. Two years ago I moved to Arizona and saw women of every size and age wearing these, so I started to. At first, I was anxious about it, but now, shorts and short sleeved tops are basically my uniform. I also wear sleeveless on really hot days (so most of the year). My confidence went up in other areas of my life, as well, because I broke through this ceiling.
I have the opposite problème Darlen, but it is the same thing. I have lost weight and my arms and thighs are wrinkled.I have complexes. I.m 61… congratulations to you to overcome your problem.
I am in your exact position! 61 and finally gave in to the fact that I won't get back to a size 8. This past week I found denim shorts at a thrift shop, and been wearing it. I don't look as bad as I imagined and am starting to feel comfortable in shorts Actually wore it to breakfast today. Feeling confident now and not looking back.!

Kay, great tips. These tips apply to everyone. I can really relate to your first tip. The length of the shorts makes or breaks a look. I am 5"4, but like to dress modestly so I always buy mid length shorts. But they always make me look stumpy even when the waist and hip fits me well. One day I put on a pair of shorts with one leg folded up in the dryer and noticed that leg looked longer. I folded up the other leg and OMG, I looked taller and a lot cooler instantly. I shortened that pair permanently and wear it often. Now I either buy the shorter shorts, or when I find a longer pair with really nice fit and fabric, i will still by them , just shorten the legs myself. Great job, Kay!
Great video, Kay. I am 63 with very pale skin and in the past I would never wear shorts. Now, partly thanks to the advice of lovely ladies like you, I feel more confident in doing so. Confidence really is the key to everything and you're right....other people don't notice our flaws as much as we do.
I love Bermuda shorts. I am 52 and a few other CZcamsrs will say that it’s a fashion don’t. But you are right you have to know you body and have fun with how you style yourself. Love your tips!! You dress so beautifully and effortlessly! ❤
I am 61 & have been wearing Bermuda shorts for the last 10 yrs, they just look better on me, but if you wear them with the right tops, you'll look fine, a lot of you tubers say it's a no no, but again, it's all about your shape/balance.

I LOVED your tips today! I am 74, and I do wear shorts (bermudas). I always have, but many of my friends do not. You hit all of the most terrifying things about wearing shorts. Kay, you are spot on! Living in NC shorts are a staple for the summer. Period. I’ve had varicose veins since I was in my late20’s. I choose to ignore them and so does everybody else. I’m about 50 lbs overweight and although I would love to be thinner, Covid pounds are hard to lose. I choose to ignore that too and wear shorts that are proportionally correct for my 5’7” frame. Oh and I’m 69 and I’m ignoring that too! Keep up the wonderful work you are doing to make women feel and look great!

Great tips. I'm 52 (almost 53). I'm 5 foot even. This year, living in the heat of Alabama, I decided to buy shorts and actually wear them. I found a nice pair of 5 inch chinos look perfect on my body and I feel confident in them. Not too short, not too long. Your videos have given me confidence to wear things I wouldn't have worn in the past. I believe as long as I'm comfortable and dressed appropriately, I feel confident. Thank you.

Been here 22 years (raised in Bellevue though) & this is one of the only times I can remember people not starting their gardens by Mother's Day or so. We always have a short growing season anyway, but this year it'll be a flash. We live by a lake & there are almost no boats on the water yet. Our spring/mountain fed water temps will probably still be too cold for swimming by the 4th of July at this rate! My shorts & other summer clothes are hanging in the closet. Waiting. Forlorn. Only used a few times sofar. Haven't topped 75 degrees here yet & we're usually notoriously drier & hotter/sunnier than where you are. Thinking I'll need to use Kay's self tanner trick/link for my son's August 06 wedding!
I love this. Yes number 10 is the best. Confidence is the best accessory you can wear. At the end of the day, everyone is going to have an opinion however it’s your body and if it makes you happy, go for it. Be kind, be respectful and be bold.
First off let me say I love the new music. I wear shorts in summer and feel comfortable in them. The mid length is perfect for me at 5'2". A third piece is something I've been doing the past year or so and I recently got 2 kimonos I'm looking forward to wearing.

It’s so tough to watch my skin get crepey, including my thighs. I’m almost 63, and abused my fair skin in the sun when I was younger. I am not at all comfortable in shorts in public, so frustrating because it’s very hot where I live. Same problem with my upper arms. Look forward to the shorts-alternate video!
Loved the video on shorts! I was told many years ago that the perfect length for me would be where my finger tips land by my leg when I put my arms down by my side. Looking in the mirror while wearing that length of short was good for me. I am 5' 2" tall so this advice has helped me a great deal whenever I select a pair of shorts. Thank you for your videos. I'm 5 feet tall and live in Texas, so shorts are a must. I've noticed that my spider veins on my legs are more noticeable and have switched to bermuda length shorts. I really don't feel that comfortable in the shorter shorts due to the veins.

Great video! I was just thinking this morning that at my age, shorts are for weekend lounge wear. But I do think I will need to get those fabulous tangerine shorts from Talbots. Also- love the denim ruffle and denim linen- might have to splurge there☺️. You do a great job of phrasing recommendations in the positive- thank you. I agree about confidence- I see lots of ladies of all sizes and shapes wearing shorts and they look wonderfully comfortable and beautiful. And here I worry about every little detail of my legs and body- nobody is paying attention but me 😅.
My mother always told me no one else pays as much attention to me as me! Why? Because they're all just as focused on themselves. It's so true. And it would free us all up so much to keep this in mind. And then we could focus on others - in a positive way - more.
you make a great "shorts" model, you're lucky you can look good in different inseams, but I'm not crazy about folding up the hems. Also sneakers tend to look too heavy with shorts. Sliders the best. Thanks Kay for the "shorts" education I learned something new.

I wear shorts everyday. I just turned 63. I do wear Bermuda length. Some of them are too long, so I cuff them up a bit. I know I don’t have the best legs. But I’m no going to be hot wearing pants when it’s 90 outside. I like the idea of wearing a shirt over a tank. I usually wear short sleeve t shirts. No sleeveless for me. I don’t really care what people think I look like. I’m going to be comfortable no matter what.

A while back I watched one of your videos and you were wearing the printed shorts you are wearing in this video. I purchased the shorts because I thought they were so cute and was going to were a white t-shirt with them but am having a hard time finding one that isn’t see though. Thank you, Kay, for these very helpful ideas! Most ladies look best in shorts (any type of clothing really) that fit nicely. It's tricky to get the right fit because women's clothing sizes vary so much! When in doubt, add a little extra length and ease, rather than being "held hostage" trying to fit into an arbitrary "size". Let's enjoy the summer with our family and friends making memories!

I'm 65, almost 66 & I LOVE my shorts!!!! I wear the knit shorts at home, but wear nicer shorts when I go out. They are the longer shorts, but I that's OK. When its hot out, I'm in shorts. Come on summer!!!

I live in a hot climate but I stoped wearing the shorts because of health issues my legs bruise very easily and bruise doesn’t go away I have dark patches. I am 5.1 and 64 yrs young 😊. I am tiny frame so I do ware shorts in 3.5 to 5 inch length shorts. I feel absolutely comfortable in them.

Great video! I was just thinking this morning that at my age, shorts are for weekend lounge wear. But I do think I will need to get those fabulous tangerine shorts from Talbots. Also- love the denim ruffle and denim linen- might have to splurge there☺️. You do a great job of phrasing recommendations in the positive- thank you. I agree about confidence- I see lots of ladies of all sizes and shapes wearing shorts and they look wonderfully comfortable and beautiful. And here I worry about every little detail of my legs and body- nobody is paying attention but me 😅.
My mother always told me no one else pays as much attention to me as me! Why? Because they're all just as focused on themselves. It's so true. And it would free us all up so much to keep this in mind. And then we could focus on others - in a positive way - more.
you make a great "shorts" model, you're lucky you can look good in different inseams, but I'm not crazy about folding up the hems. Also sneakers tend to look too heavy with shorts. Sliders the best. Thanks Kay for the "shorts" education I learned something new.
Love your videos. So many great ideas and suggestions. I am 60 yrs old and certainly feel like you address all my concern. I like to dress properly for my age and feel joyful and still somehow young. I wear shorts everyday. I just turned 63. I do wear Bermuda length. Some of them are too long, so I cuff them up a bit. I know I don’t have the best legs. But I’m no going to be hot wearing pants when it’s 90 outside. I like the idea of wearing a shirt over a tank. I usually wear short sleeve t shirts. No sleeveless for me. I don’t really care what people think I look like. I’m going to be comfortable no matter what.

I am 60 and live in sunny HOT Florida and for me shorts are a must. I do get the long length, I’m also a tall lady at 5’10. A while back I watched one of your videos and you were wearing the printed shorts you are wearing in this video. I purchased the shorts because I thought they were so cute and was going to were a white t-shirt with them but am having a hard time finding one that isn’t see though. I like the color tee you have on in this video that match the shorts so well. Can you tell me the color the t-shirt is?

Thank you, Kay, for these very helpful ideas! Most ladies look best in shorts (any type of clothing really) that fit nicely. It's tricky to get the right fit because women's clothing sizes vary so much! When in doubt, add a little extra length and ease, rather than being "held hostage" trying to fit into an arbitrary "size". Let's enjoy the summer with our family and friends making memories!

I'm 65, almost 66 & I LOVE my shorts!!!! I wear the knit shorts at home, but wear nicer shorts when I go out. They are the longer shorts, but I that's OK. When its hot out, I'm in shorts. Come on summer!!!

Thank you for so many wonderful tips. I especially like the leg tanning lotion idea, everyone would rave about my slim legs. I live in a hot climate but I stoped wearing the shorts because of health issues my legs bruise very easily and bruise doesn’t go away I have dark patches.
