  • Hi CZcamsrs, here we have a 7Kg wash washing machine from Indesit (IWC 71453).
    I chose this washing machine because of the shorter wash programmes available, as most machines seem to take over 2 and a half hours for a standard wash. Originally purchased from Currys - PC World for £249.99, and has a "B" rating for energy consumption. Another great feature of this appliance is the "extra rinse" option, which is great for making sure the deterrent is out of heavier items of clothing such as jeans and towels.

    I have an 8kilo machine, bought by my landlord. Every standard wash takes 4.5 hours - it takes in effect a whole waking day to do two loads. My elderly parents and sisters Don't have Indesit-brand washing machines - they're all able to select one-hour wash cycles, and have been baffled that mine takes so long. I see now that lots of people complain online about Indesit machines, it seems.

The Currys guy who delivered it put it to that setting 8 and speed 1000. Its entirely up to you.

      use good detergent and probably a hotter wash, modern detergents are designed for colder water but the washes should take much longer if using cold water, pre treat any stains, I use vanish spray on all the kids clothes with food stains and everything else and they come out spotless ( different machine )
      Usually if you want a quick wash it has to be hotter water, colder wash takes longer.
      For energy saving, a machine that has proper load sensing uses only the water it needs based on the load and load type, heating the water is what costs the money a 2 hr cold wash uses practically nothing compared to a 1hr 30 min wash at 40 degrees.
      Another, often overlooked issue is that hard water needs a lot more detergent. Use the recommended washing powder and liquid based on the load amount and hard/soft water.

    • @o00scorpion00o
      @o00scorpion00o Před rokem

      Modern machines are designed to wash at lower temps with detergent designed for lower temps and if using colder water the wash needs to take a long time for the detergent to do it's job. Try a hotter wash on a different setting, the manual should tell you how long washed should take ? Using hotter water will use a lot more energy especially in machines that have no proper load sensing, if you can see the water in your machine up along the door then it has not got proper load sensing and will cost you a lot more to heat the water.
      A cold was for example may take 3 hrs but all it's doing is turning the drum via the electric motor which uses considerably less energy then the element does to heat the water.

  • @o00scorpion00o
    @o00scorpion00o Před rokem +1

    Running twice as long doesn't tell the whole story, modern machines that use cool or cold water take much longer to wash because where in the past the heat did the main work now it's the detergent. The main difference is heating the water, this is what costs not the overall time the machine is on and another reason you have less and less control and options for each wash so it can sell as A or B rated. So a machine that takes twice as long to wash might only heat a fraction of the water and heat it only to 30 degrees, 15 degrees etc and the rest of the time it's only turning the drum which uses very little energy, heating is what costs. This will use much less electricity than a machine that washes in half the time or even less but heating twice the water or even more, could be 3 times the water if there's no proper load sensing.
    Here's another example, fill a kettle half way and it will cost half as much than heating a full kettle, you wouldn't boil a full or even half a kettle for a cup of tea.
    Modern machines with A rating are based on water usage and total Kwh, it doesn't matter how long the wash takes, if it's heating twice the water ( and more ) than it needs, a machine with proper load sensing uses only the water it needs this is why they are more expensive but since I got cheap night time electricity and a Well for water I couldn't care less about water usage or about energy ratings that mean nothing if the machine only lasts 4 or 5 years tops going 7 days a week anyway.
    The reason washes take a long time is because People are washing at lower and lower temps and detergents can't work so good at 1 hr washes in cool water so the wash has to take a long time and modern washers with A ratings are usually set so you can't change the temperature and you might find that the hotter washes show less time to wash and 30 min washes are only for clean clothes that need freshen up not for kids clothes that are often filthy with stains.
    This Indesit Looks really easy to use, we got this Samsung and it's got smart apps and everything but very complicated to use and the washes take absolutely forever, you can't beat simplicity as it should be, you can't beat manual controls and having individual controls.
    We've paid a lot more for washing machines that don't last more than 4 or 5 years so not doing that again buying smart machines with internet connectivity and for what ? you save energy bla bla, well, the cost to save the earth means everything is getting too complicated to use and the quality can be crap and more expensive but designed to be eye candy with "digital" used as marketing.
    I won't be spending 400-500 + on a washing machine again. Granted, our machine is going 7 days a week with 2 Boys getting mucked to the eyeballs every day.
    The moral of the story is that you can't beat water, suds and heat to clean clothes in a short time and all the wizardry in electronics mean that the machines get more complicated to use, don't last as long and are all digital nonsense with apps to do stuff you can both do without and do from the machine anyway but used as marketing tools to make the machines more expensive

      A wash needs 3 hrs or more to be effective in cold water, the detergents can't clean in cold water in short washes unless they are clean going in and just need to be freshened up. Heating the water is what costs, the electric motor turning the drum uses very little energy.

      Try not using eco mode. I find that eco mode doesn't heat the water up nearly as quick as normal mode. I've found this on pretty much every washer I've used

    • @o00scorpion00o
      @o00scorpion00o Před rokem

      A lot of people get caught thinking their machine can heat the water properly with a very short wash and don't realise that a cold wash will take 3 hrs or more as the detergent can't do it's job in cold water in a short time.
      If you set your machine to 40 deg and don't set the program for long enough that it can heat it it will not heat to full temp.

      @@danhutchinsonbackup I'd say didn't even reach 15 deg, if a wash has to take 15 mins in total I doubt it can heat the water at all ? Even if it did it would probably only just barely have it up to temp when it has to empty the drum.
      a 15 min was will have short spins and 1 or 2 rinses, I need more rinses due to sensitive skin.
